Perfect riding jean, IMO
Stylish and comfortable. Tapered leg, so they look good with boots AND low-tops.

The thinner knee armor is a big deal for me. Other jeans I tried on had huge knee pads that affected the comfort, fit, and made them less than stylish off the bike.

Sizing was dead on for me. I'm 6'0", 170lbs. 31/34 fit perfectly, which is what I normally wear in any other jean. I'm also a cyclist and while I don't have the worlds biggest thighs, many skinnier cut jeans don't work for me. The cut on these makes room without getting frumpy.

On the bike, the cuffs did ride up and expose more ankle/calf than I'd like. I ride a Multistrada, so this is always a problem it seems. The good news is that the tapered leg kept the flapping to a minimum. Boot cut jeans always seem to get flapping like crazy at highway speeds.

4 stars for airflow and also 4 stars for protection. They are slightly stuffy in 95 degree heat, and the protection is not going to be what you get from a touring pant. If these were a touring pant, I'd rate them lower, but since they're jeans, I think airflow and protection are expected to be less than ideal.

Great Product for Normal sized people
My only gripe is that I ought to have ordered the "long" version

I usually wear a 32- 34 jean and my Rev'it Lombard jeans with Knox knee armour fit perfectly. These however, the knee armour sits way too high up my leg in the riding position. There is no adjustability in the armour pocket at all. If I had ordered a 32 -36 I might have been in better shape.

Best Riding Jeans!!
These are by far the best riding jeans I've had. The comfort is just excellent, and they fit even better than my most regular jeans. Do not look much like motorcycle jeans when off the bike. They do run slightly larger in waist I think, I wear 38/32 in Levis 501, and these feel about size bigger in the waist, perfect in my big thighs and calves tho. I could've gone for 36/32 easily but they out of stock, if I put hip protector in might be just right. Or belt. Length is on spot, and the knee protector sits where it should, does not bother me at all.

Great Looking Jean
The Jean is very comfortable and has some stretch, therefore the size is a little bit large. I originally purchased a size 34 waist based on the sizing chart, but it was too large and returned it for a size 32 waist, which fit perfectly. My first order was a 32" length, but had to settle for a 34" length since they were out of the 32"x 32". I just roll up the legs for a cafe racer style. I am 5'-8" and 166 lbs.

Great Pants
I'll start with that the pants fit large. I measure 36 at the waist and I ordered a size 34, I could have went 32 and I'm guessing it would have been spot on. Nothing a belt didn't take care of and perhaps with the addition of hip armor it will be perfect. They do have about an inch of stretch to them so take note of that. The knee armor is barely felt and with the correct length they should sit right where they need to be. Otherwise this riding jean is exactly as described. Perfectly comfortable while riding too. Much better than a pair of normal jeans.

What is the fit difference between these and the rev'it seattle?
Konrad B on Apr 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Color difference only. Austin is a bit lighter shade.
Will cordura denim melt if it comes in contact with exhaust pipes?
Don M on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Although I don't have personal experience with this happening, I would have to guess that the fabric would have to be in contact with the exhaust pipes for some length of time (more than just a few seconds) before it would melt. It's pretty durable fabric and these jeans fit great and are comfortable to ride in.

Welcome to our detailed breakdown of the new Rev'it Austin Riding Jeans available at RevZilla.com.

Here is the new Austin, part of the Rev'it technical riding jean collection. It's actually replacing the Vendome. When I say replacing meaning it's slotting in as your medium, stone wash jean, that's going to be full Cordura denim. But the beauty of it is the fit, it's a little different, the style's a little different here. And you can see, it's going to be more of a tapered leg. It's going be a normal waist and leg and then it slims and it tapers at the bottom. I don't want to call it slim fit, I want to call it more city-inspired, more of a tapered leg. And again, maybe that's where they got the inspiration from, Austin, which is a stylish town.

Now if we look at it, out of the box, you're coming in at just over that $200 mark. Again, 12.5 ounce Cordura denim, meaning this is actually Cordura which dramatically beefs up the slide rating to it. Instead of just regular denim but it's woven in a denim style. The other great thing about the Austin, we're seeing this as part of the new collection within the Rev'it jeans, is they're now using Seesmart CE-Level 1 armor. So we saw Seesoft before, this Seesmart is now soft, flexible. It's going to be CE-Level 1 rated, really low profile and it doesn't throw off the line on the jean. You're going to get that in the knees. Those hips, however, are still going to come, or the Austin rather, is going to come with a pocket that's prepared for Seesoft hip armor.

The other thing to keep in mind when we think about these jeans is the inner lining. And again, something like the Rockefeller, which is over that $300 mark has that full PWR shield knit all the way through. Here on the Austin, you have hips, you have seat and you have the knees. And again, it's going to be a big step up over something like Kevlar but it's really what gives you that full on abrasion resistant second layer that really allows these jeans to get to that next level. So again, outer shell, Cordura, done with a great style in mind, and the inner PWR shield knit is where you're getting an additional boost in abrasion resistance along with your Seesmart CE-Level 1 flexible armor.

Now, quick note on sizing. The Austin is going to come in 32, 34 and 36-inch lengths. Buy the one that best suits you and then you buy your jeans waist size and you should be good to go. And questions use the size chart, it's going to be there.

And remember, the Austin is going to be more that slimmer tapered fit around the leg. The fit along the different Rev'it jeans is going to be different. You have the Jersey, you have the Philly, you have the Lombard and then you have that more 501 cut Rockefeller which is the big beefy granddad with all of the protection baked in that just takes everything to the next level. Remember too, we're going to ship for free over 39 bucks if you're concerned about size.

Now, coming back into some of the nuances here on this jean. If we look at it, one of things that kind of ties in with fit so we should hit it early, is the gusset up the inside of the leg or the inner thigh. That expansion of that seam is going to allow it to be more comfortable in the riding position. It's a really nice touch. Some of the other creature comforts. Notice that Rev'it went with flat rivets here. Again, now a full rivet will scratch, a flat rivet gives you a better chance of not scratching your bike. They are matte black, they have some style to them. What I like about this jean, its got that lighter stone wash to it and instead of the yellow stitching that we're seeing in some of the other jeans, they went with a white stitching which kind of pulls it together and has a great flavor to it.

Now, if you move down, we have the right side cuff. I want to show the outside of that right cuff. Notice that it is cuffed over top of his Regent boots and there is about 6 inches of reflectivity on the outside too. So you can hem these and then get away with the fact that there is a little bit of a difference there or there's a little bit of extra room to work with. But again, the fact that it comes in three sizes, which is some overhead for those guys to do that many sizes of jeans. Again, gives you the best chance to get it spot on. And notice from the side here, tapered leg up to the side.

The backside here, basic in the seat. The pockets have a nice Euro inspiration to them, but they're not over the top, they don't have pleather worked in or any different panels. They're just classic European-style stitching which is going to fit nicely within our expectations. If you think about the Euro jeans that are non-riding jeans that you wear in the States like a Diesel or something along those lines, a G-star, you see this type of shape and design. Then moving up, basic belt loops across the top.

So remember, if you're looking Austin, you're not making that north of $300 investment because you're saying, "I want the PWR Shield at the knees, at the hip, and at the seat". You're going with the Seesmart armor for the first time in the knees here as part of this new collection. And you're really looking at this from a style standpoint and saying, "It's Cordura denim, I want my tapered fit". And that's one of the big selling points here within the line. Because again, in that 2 or 300 dollar range from Rev'it, you'd see a lot of jeans that have similar components but they'd have different styles and they'd have different fits. And that point, that's where you're kind of gravitating towards.
