Looks great, gonna be hot.
Ordered it a couple months ago and it's just getting warm enough to use it here in the Philly area. Style is bang on, fit is true and it's comfortable. Looks bad ass and plan to wear it often. For a vest, protection is average to good if you leave the back protector in place. Used it last week on a 70 degree day, vest isn't perforated, and I got warm even while at speed on the highway. It bottles in the heat, perfect for springtime gonna be hot in the summer. Overall I like the vest and glad I bought it. In my opinion it looks good while on a sportbike or on a cruiser if your lucky enough to have both. Stay safe, ride often!!

Great vest for 2017
Bought this vest to upgrade from my previous speed & strength vest which made me feel like I was playing paintball! I'm 6'1" 260 lbs and I got a 2xl which fits me perfectly. Finally something that hides my gut lol. The stretchy material helps to keep it snug and stop it from riding up. So far I've only rode wit a polo tshirt under it on a 70° day and I didn't sweat under it. Has a ce back protector thats removable but I don't recommend doing that. Its light weight and flexible enough to not even notice! Revzilla delivered it faster than I could receive the tracking info. Thanks for that! Definitely worth the money. You wont be disappointed. Sick looking vest too.

My vest friend.
So! Summer time hits in Texas, and that means totally sporadic and rapidly changing weather patterns along with the typical 105-110-degree heat days. As if God were sitting in the sky looking specifically for motorcyclists to fry with his giant magnifying glass, I began looking for a way to stay a bit cooler during these less than stellar days of commuting back and forth to work.
As I got home and went through my daily ritual of peeling off my Speed and Strength riding jacket from my back and arms, it occurred to me that I probably needed to switch to my summer jacket, or find an alternative. My summer jacket was gifted to me, and it does fit my chest and waist, however the sleeves are a bit short, so I avoid it most of the time. I thought briefly about removing the sleeves of the jacket entirely, which then gave me the idea of purchasing an actual riding vest for the summer.

Enter the Speed and Strength Critical Mass vest. While I have NO IDEA what this vest has to do with nuclear chain reactions, I do know that I like this vest A LOT!

I am 6’ tall, and around 225lbs. Not very large around the waist (still larger than I’d like) but I am broad shouldered and slightly barrel chested. Coach said I should have played football, but I liked nerd stuff and motorcycles… still do for the most part. I based my size decision off the speed and strength jacket I already have, and again bought a size Large. Again, it fits like a glove!

With the adjustable straps along your mid-section and waist, you can loosen or tighten this bad boy up to your absolute tolerances and desires. I have mine adjusted pretty snug for a few reasons, one because I like to feel like I’m wearing a hug, and the other because it makes me look like I have the mid section of the young body building Arnold Schwarzenegger. I began to understand why some women enjoy wearing these “fat suckers” and corsets, mainly because of the inherent compression and support it gives your back and stomach. Perfect time to snap some new FB pictures…

Alright! It’s time to wheelie off into the sunset with my bitchin’ new vest! The pockets, although a bit smaller than I’m used to, do hold my folded wallet, and the napoleon pocket even holds my Note8! There are what appears to be abrasion pads located all over the vest, and the usual vault armor along the spine. I specifically ordered the camo version, to which I found looks differently in different types of light. Pictured on the website it’s VERY dark, in reality it’s much lighter, but not a deal breaker at all. I ride a CBR1000RR, so the whole Urban Camo thing works well for the look and feel of the whole thing. The last thing I’ll note, that won’t apply to anyone but other red heads, is how painfully aware you’ll be of the fact that the sun will now be able to burn your delicate skin, specifically parts of your arm that doesn’t usually see sunlight due to how you’re holding the bar grips. Stay strong my brothers and sisters…

TDLR: Great vest. Large will fit a 6’ tall 225lbs broad shouldered, slightly barrel-chested man child. Not the best choice if you specifically want protection for your arms… Wear sun screen. Makes wheelies even better. Adds 40 HP to your bike.

Runs short
I ordered the XL and in a standing position it sits at my bellybutton level. I'm 6' and 215 lbs. Not sure how much it would protect my lower 'exposed' back if I were to fall off the bike and slide.

Padding seems a little cheap. But better than no padding I suppose.

A little tight over my gut. If you're a chubby dude or gal, you're going to struggle with this bad boy.

On the upside, it is a super cool looking vest and comfortable to wear.

Best bang for your buck!
I just purchased and received my vest last week. Went on three long rides with it and am very pleased. Quality is great. Fitment is true and the styling is nice and aggressive. Only thing is airflow isn't that great but other then that id highly recommend.

vs Icon Brigand. Both great, I kept the SS for my purposes
I purchased both this SS vest and an Icon Brigand to compare the two side-by-side. I kept the SS vest but mainly because it fits best more my wants. I wanted a vest to use as a stand alone back protector. This and the Icon Brigand is comparable in price, but that's about it. The Brigand is made to fit OVER a jacket or thicker clothes and is sized a lot larger than this vest.
I kept the SS vest because it fits more true to size and it fits similar to one of the armored hoodies I have from them. It has a lot of padding for a vest (chest, ribs, and shoulders) and a true CE rated back protector (removable) and has extra padding on top of the insert. There's 3 pockets - 2 front, 1 inside chest - the two front ones are pretty small, but the inside one if made for smartphones so it's larger. I like the SWAT styling. The shoulders are a bit narrow compared to the Brigand (better for me). Also the arm holes are smaller and are sewn closer to the armpit, which I like.
At freeway speeds the vest might start to ride up IF you're doing a full tuck on a sport bike or something (I ride a cruiser so it doesn't do that. I tested this because someone mentioned it and I tried leaning, but I had to lean pretty far for it to start catching air.) I think that's the only advantage the Icon vest had was a longer drop tail.
There's small patches of reflective material on the front and back, which I also like (If I could've gotten it in a "hi-viz" look, I would have.)
This vest is great for my style and purposes. I would recommend it.

I liked the materials compared to other vests. Also, I tend to get hot easily, so this offered more breathability compared to vented jackets.
Nicolas M on Jun 28, 2017
I chose the this vest because I had the alpine star vest for over 5 years and it was time to get a new one. What drew me to this vest over the others is the simple design with minimum branding not to forget the stretch material with the underlying belt loop to prevent rising of the vest. Fingers crossed it fits me....

Wanda K on Apr 18, 2017
This vest is really a great looking piece of ridding gear. I purchased the urban camo version and was excited to see what it looked like in person. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looks, how well it fits on me and is pretty cool looking design. I am very impressed with this vest. I think this is a much better alternative than the normal Icon vest. I got tired of walking into places and having the "laser tag vest" jokes all the time. I have gotten many compliments on this so far.

It has a removable back protector. Can I put a D3O back protector in it? And if so which one do I need?
Jonathan D on Mar 8, 2017
How is the breathability? Would this be comfortable in 90 degree weather? I'm considering replacing my Icon because I don't trust the straps keeping in on during a crash (as they sometimes open up with just the wind).
Cody C on Feb 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I've had this about 2 weeks, maybe a little more. But living in south florida, this time of year its high 70s into the 80s. So far on a hot sunny day in the 80s it very comfortable with slight sweating only along my back but that might be expected for the weather or it might be the back protector retaining heat. Either way its alot better than the jacket i own and should be good come the summer months.
What material is it made from?
A shopper on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: a stretchy polyester material
any way to add ballistic panels to make it a true bullet proof?
A shopper on Jun 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. The pads are actually stitched To the outside of the vest. The pads aren't removable like other vests or jackets. Marketed as a "1-accident" vest.
