Surprised I like these
I thought I knew what I wanted in a motorcycle boot, but what I have on my feet right now suggests otherwise. I started riding in my Justin cowboy boots. Great feel, style (of a sort), no real protection.

So I wanted a boot that had some more protection, but that could still pass in a business casual environment. I looked closely at the Gasolina Classics, but the protection was mediocre. Same thing with the Bates Fast Lanes. The Triumph Gratham is neat, but impossible to find and the protection is also questionable.

Then I found the Alpinestars Soho. It seemed like the perfect combination of style and protection. Hard protection at the ankles, toes, heels. They are even waterproof. They are also discontinued and out of stock in my size. So, no dice.

Then I decided, why compromise on safety for style? Dress for the crash. I focused on Sidi, since they seemed to fit the best. The Sidi Adventure looked like a solid boot. Great protection and reasonably stylish. The fit was perfect. I bought them. I returned them.

The Adventures are so thick, I had to crank my shift lever all the way up to get my toes underneath. Then I didn’t have enough ankle articulation to downshift without lifting off the peg and stomping on the lever. The boots felt solid, but lacked the feel I was used to on the brake and the shifter.

I considered the Sidi On Road, the Canyon, even the Crossfire TA. Then it hit me: I was still trying to find a boot that looked right, not one that felt right.

That is when I tried on the Sidi Cobra Air. I had dismissed racer-style boots as too garish. But when I looked at them objectively I saw the perfect boot. Hard shin, calf, ankle, heel, and toe protection. I don’t need a toe slider, but having my toes covered in plastic can’t hurt if some road debris flies toward my feet or I end up on the pavement. Peel away all the plastic bits and you have basically a rubber-soled cowboy boot with a zipper and velcro. Great feel on the controls, super articulation. And the perforated leather allows just the right amount of airflow. The toe box is a touch narrow, but nothing serious. Walking is fine; I have worn them all day around the office.

As I rode with my new Sidi Cobra Air boots I realized what really matters in motorcycle gear: (1) Comfort; (2) Control; (3) Protection; (4) Style. In that order. If you aren’t comfortable, you won’t wear the gear or feel at ease on the bike. If you can’t control the bike, you are in for serious trouble. If you aren’t dressed for the crash, you will regret picking style over substance when the bike is on top of you. And finally, as long as all the other elements are there, the boot should look reasonably good.

Major air flow, but a poorly sized design
As others have mentioned, I bought this as my first motorcycle boot and went with SIDI as I have used their bicycle shoes and they are a good trusted brand.

I'll start with the pros. So far I have put about 2,000 miles (3 months of weekend rides) on them. They are holding up great! I have had no problems with anything even looking like it is going to wear out soon. The term "air" is spot on. I have been riding in 80-100 degree weather and never had a problem with my feet sweating. It was 65 the other night and I wish I had thrown on some wool socks. These things breathe!!! They are also, a fairly comfortable boot to walk around in. I have had them on for an entire without thinking, "Man these boots are irritating".

Now the cons. The biggest concern I have is sizing. These things run about one full size large. I had to send mine back in and exchange them. The second ones I got fit fine in the foot length. Moving up the boot to the ankle, feels pretty good, and I am not too worried abot rolling my ankle in them. However, these are made for people with large calves. For a reference, where the top of the boot is on my leg, I measure a 14 inch circumference. But, as you can see in my picture, I have a full inch of extra room in front of my shin. This makes for a horrible fit, even if I stuff my pant legs in there. Due to the way the zipper is run up the side, you cannot pull the velcro area tight to fit your calf. At this price point, I would like to see some type of cam buckle, or even velcor strap around the top of the boot which allows you to make it fit properly. While this is the only con I have found with the boots, it is one big enough to have me looking at what to replace them with.

Unfortunately, due to this major issue, I would not reccomend them, unless you have exceptionally large calves.

Great Boots
I love these boots and I'll tell you why: I wear a size-14" and Sidi is the only boot manufacturer I have found that can truly accommodate a large American sized foot in a race-style boot. Trust me, when you have a large foot, finding a high quality reasonably priced motorcycle boots is difficult. Most manufacturers only size to 13". The Sidi's fit great out of the box, have excellent venting and are comfortable enough to walk around in. I really like these boots and will be a Sidi buyer for life, not just because they actually fit, but because of the great quality & pricing too. One last note, I purchased their largest boot for my size-14" foot, so you might want to go a size up when purchasing. As usual, Revzilla was great on delivering accurately and quickly on my order. No tax, no shipping costs, low prices and liberal return policy (never had to return a product yet because I do my research).

Great pair of warm-weather boots for the beginning rider. Lack of lateral ankle protection is an issue.
These were my first pair of riding boots and I loved them at first. After getting the SIDI ST Air and TCX S-Speed, I don't think I would buy these again. The biggest issue is the lack of lateral ankle protection (if you can bend the boots sideways, that's bad). If you pay $50 more, the Sidi Vertigo are the best bang for your buck since they work on the street and the track. These Cobra Air are okay for street purposes.

What I really like is the air-flow during humid and hot summer (95 degrees plus). Also, they are so easy to take on or off versus the extra 45 seconds for my ST and Mag-1 boots. Also, they are more comfortable to walk in and wear for extended periods because they bend more easily. My other boots are very stiff - yet that protects you more. Decide what you want.

I usually wear 9.5D in my dress shoes. I got the 43 and they fit very snug at first. However, after a week they fit fine. You don't want these to be as roomy as pair of comfortable running shoes. That being said, I thought I could get away with the perforated synthetic leather for my region in the winter by wearing thicker socks. First, the thicker socks made these unbearably right. Second, my feet became too cold below 50 degrees at 65 mph. You can buy a 44 to accommodate thicker GORE-Windstopper/GORE-Tex socks, however.

SIDI should add reflective visibility panels/piping at the back and front for added safety in low-light conditions. I added some tape, but the gunk from the road sticks to the tape's adhesive so it's messy. If stitched on from the factory, the appearance wouldn't be compromised.

Solid boots, can't beat 'em
I bought these because I like to do aggressive street riding and in the near future I'd like to start doing track days as well. These seemed to be a good balance of both, with adequate protection in case they see some track time. At this price point I felt they offered the most protection in comparison to other boots. The quality is top notch and they look and feel great. Easy to put on and take off, and the air flow is surprisingly good for leather boots. Once you get moving above 40mph you'll feel the air really start to come through. I can easily fit my pants over top of them which was another selling point for me.

I wear a size 10.5 in most shoes, went with the size 10/44 in the boots and they fit just right. They aren't tight on the toes, but they feel secure. Especially when you're in the riding position you'll have enough toe room to be comfy, without them being loose at all. My feet are average, a little narrow in width and these boots fit very well. Hope this review helps. I'd recommend them.

Great 3 season boot.
I've had these boots for about a year and a half now, and have found them to be my favorite boots in my closet. 2nd pair of Sidi boots I've had, and the quality is excellent. Very warm in the summers here, sometimes 100+ when riding, and I've found these boots comfortable in the hot weather, and also fine in the cool fall and spring days. Great protection and fit. Highly reccommend.

Sidi Cobra Air
Sidi boots are simply brilliant. The feel through the boots to levers and pegs is superb and the fit is great.
The Cobras are a great street boot that would be happy doing track days too.

Comfortable on/off bike.
This is my first pair of motorcycle specific boots, coming from steel toed timberland boots. Definitely take a little time getting used to walking in and one the controls on the bike. Better feel for the controls, and you can feel air flow through the boots when on the move. I can walk around all day in them, but definitely no my first choice for that purpose, but a reasonable trade off for the protection level.

Great quality, consistent fit
I've been consistently a 46 in Sidi, both for motorcycle boots and cycling shoes and these didn't deviate from that fit. Like most Sidi stuff they are a bit on the narrow side, which works reasonably well for me. I found that for my feet an aftermarket arch support was desirable, but that also is consistent with pretty much all footwear I buy.

They're well made and provide good protection. Certainly adequate for my sport/sport touring riding. Comfort off the bike is not their strong point but they're nowhere near as constraining as hardcore track boots, I can walk around with them for a while during breaks in reasonable comfort.

I got the air version and airflow is excellent at speed. My feet tend to heat up in many boots, but no problem with these. Obviously not for use in the rain or even damp conditions, but great here in Southern California.

I wish there were a few reflective surfaces on the sides and heel, but that was easily fixed with some black reflective tape without ruining the boots' lines or look.

Would be great for an occasional track rider who also wants above-average protection on the street or even for limited sport-touring situations.
