Olympia Women's Airglide 4 Pants

Quite possibly one of the most versatile and rider friendly pants on the market, the Olympia Women's Airglide 4 Pants are the latest design iteration of a pant that has been a staple of multi-season riding for years. With a tough 500 denier Cordura and Ballistic Airflow mesh, the Airglide 4 Pants can be worn by themselves or over your regular pants depending on your application. The removable waterproof rain liner can also be worn in the interior, over top or by itself to allow complete versatility of a pant that already sets a high bar for utilitarianism. Full leg zips on both layers allow for easy on and off with or without boots on and the adjustable CE rated knee armor ensures you are properly protected.

Note: If primarily wearing the Airglide 4 as overpants, especially over jeans, we recommend going up 1 size from what the Size Chart suggests.

Features:

  • Outer shell constructed in 500D Cordura fabric with Ballistic Airflow mesh panels
  • Waterproof over or under rain pant
  • Full side leg zippers extend to waistband
  • Removable and adjustable height CE Motion Flex armor at knees
  • Cool mesh airflow lining
  • Removable EVA compression foam at hips
  • Custom Fit detailing at waist, hips and bottom hem
  • 3M Scotchlite reflective piping from waist to hem
  • Relaxed tailored fit
  • Two storage pockets

Comfortable, high quality, but very long for short women
I purchased these pants because they were one of the only products I could find that were high quality, offered decent protection, and were available in sizes above 14. Why don't manufacturers think women over size 14 want to be safe and comfortable?!

These pants are comfortable to wear, easy to get on and off, the ventilation is adequate, and they offer added protection at the hips and knees. The construction is durable and they are well made. They seem to be true to size in the waist and hips. With the liner inside, I should be able to extend their wear into the cooler months, when worn over jeans.

However, they are extremely long on my 28" inseam legs. I will have to hem them several inches. Even though they are advertised as EZ-hem, buyers should beware. I am a sewist with a lot of experience and the proper equipment, but these will still be challenging and very time consuming for me to shorten properly to look good. Anyone who can't sew and who will need the pants hemmed should factor in significant labor charges into your purchase consideration. I have worn them on a couple of rides (as a passenger) by folding under the excess fabric, but that is not an acceptable long-term solution and they definitely will need to be hemmed.

In my opinion they are worth the money because the quality is good, the ventilation works and they were available in the proper size, but I wish they would come with different length options.

Perfect choice
These pants I LOVE. They fit great. And I love the full leg zippers. Also, the rain inserts can be worn separately or over the riding pants. The staff memeber Joanne gave great advice and picked these out for me. I only sent my measurements and poof, DONE!

I chose these product over a few others for the great features
Another rider recommended Olympia riding pants based on her great experiences with the products and customer service. I traveled 150 miles to try to purchase women's mesh riding pants and the store I went to didn't carry the Airglide 4. After doing extensive research I wanted the Airglide 4 because of the ability to wear the wind/water proof liner on the inside or outside of the pants. I didn't want to have to completely take the pants off to put the liner in while hopping on the side of the road trying to beat the rain. t was able to try on the Airglide 3. I am short waisted with longer legs and the other brands came above my rib cage. I also didn't want black mesh pants because I felt they would be hotter than a lighter color so I was happy the Airglide 4 had pewter as an option. I wore them for the first time today and am very satisfied. The temperatures were in the mid 80's in southeastern OH and typically humid. I stayed very cool while we were moving and comfortable at slower speeds and stop lights. The full length zippers on the sides are wonderful and made taking the pants off for stops a breeze. My next purchase will be a pair of the men's for my husband.

Not as great as I expected
I bought these as over-the-pant pants with a waterproof aspect. The size is pretty true but can be tight with heavy weight jeans. They work best with jeggings or thin skinny jeans. It has been really hot this summer and these pants do not breath enough to help me tolerate the heat at all. I'd much rather wear my Kevlar denim instead. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I keep finding the zipper creeping down.

The adjustable knee pads and the pewter color are awesome. I also like the built in protection. The long zipper on the side helps so much with getting them on and off over clothes and boots. The removable rain gear part that can be worn over the pants is a great idea! This way, you won't have to take off the pants in the rain to put the liner on underneath. It would be helpful to have a strap for under the boot though. And they did keep me dry in a half day ride in the rain.

These will probably be my go-to long ride protection pants. I'll probably stick to my Kevlar jeans for shorter rides.

Great for commuting and touring
I use these all the time when riding to work. They go on over my pants - the side zips work nice for easy on/off. The air flow on these is very good. I only wish I'd gotten one size smaller. I have to wear a belt to keep them up!

In love
I measured for a size 6 in these, and at their suggestion, ordered one size up because I plan on wearing these over jeans much of the time. When I got them, they seemed to be a bit too big, even over my jeans, since they are fairly thin jeans. My suggestion...order up a size IF your jeans are bulky or if you're at the top of your sizing range. I contacted Revzilla about exchanging them, and was super pleased with their customer service. I just got my new size, and I absolutely love how they fit. This overpant checks all the items on my list: flexibility to wear whatever I want for meetings and still be protected for the ride, easy removal when I get there (opens hip to ankle!), and a good look (love the pewter). I also like that the water protection shell slips on over the pants, so I don't have to take them off if I get caught in unexpected rain. Obviously I haven't tested their durability/safety yet, but everything is as I expected. I like that the knee protection is height adjustable. I may get some hard hip armor in the future, as it only comes with hip pads, but we'll see. Right now, I just can't wait to take them out for a ride!!!

keeps this leggings & dresses girl safe on her commute
TL;DR: great commuting over pants, you might not need to hem them as much as you think

I wear leggings & dresses or extremely stretchy pants just about every day. I commute just a few miles through town, mostly under 30 mph, so for a while I tried just wearing sturdy jeans every day. Nope nope, not my style, not my comfort, but wearing only leggings just felt like I was asking for injury. So I bought these over pants!

I love them. I love the zipper that goes all the way up, making it easy to take them on and off really quickly. I upgraded the hip protectors, and once zipped they stay in place fine. In jeans I'm usually a 27 or 28, and I ordered a size 4. They fit fine over anything I own, but are a little bit big. There are belt loops, though.

I have a very short inseam, and my local tailor hemmed them about 4 inches for me for $40. Maybe because he's a leather specialist? But it wasn't a problem for him, even though I looked at the pants and wondered how in the world these were supposed to be "easy hem." He even kept the velcro detail, just moved it up. HOWEVER I wish I had tried them on ON MY BIKE. Once on my bike, they hiked up a lot and my ankles were completely exposed. Good thing I wear boots. Also, wearing them over clothes (and sometimes over a dress which is scrunching up around the waist), makes the waist ride a little higher. Now I kind of wish I hadn't had so much hemmed. Oh well. They're still great.

Great versatile overpants
I'm a newer rider and wanted a good pair of overpants. These have been great - the tall zippers make getting in and out with boots on pretty easy, the armor feels solid (though I did add some CE rated hip protectors to the foam ones), and the waterproof liner works great both over the pants and under (if I want a bit of extra wind protection). The zippers are beefy and durable and the pockets are useful. They don't look quite as stylish as a nice pair of fitted riding pants, but for the utility they're exactly what I wanted. I'm 5'9" with 30" waist and 38" hips. The size 10 fit me great.

Comfortable and Versatile Pants
I'm very happy with my purchase of the Olympia AirGlide pants.
I think that they fit true to size. I am 5'6" and 125 lbs. and usually wear a size 4 in pants. I ordered the 6 because I wanted to have some extra room to wear jeans underneath and still have room to move. They fit fine, especially with the rain pants on the inside, but with the rain pants out they are roomy for me around the waist and they don't have any way to cinch the waist up. That would probably be my only gripe about the pants.
I love the zippers on the sides which go up the full length of the pants. They make it very easy to put them on without taking my riding boots off. The rain pants have a wide bottom as well, and I was also able to pull those on over my boots during a ride when it started to rain.
The airflow in the pants was great. I wore them the other day with temperatures between 60 and 90 and they were comfortable when I was moving, even in the heat.
They are also overall just a comfortable pant to wear. The knee armor hits me in just the right spot and the pant fabric is soft and flexible and doesn't feel bulky.
I haven't tried them out with the rain pants on the inside, so I don't know how warm they will be for me in cooler temperatures, but for summer riding they have been great.

These run really big!
So, I ordered the size 12 based on the size chart. I had also heard to order on the bigger size if you were in between, since these are overpants and will cover another layer. That said, I tried them on and even with another layer, the size recommended on the size chart is much too big. It might be no problem if there was a more secure way to cinch them down, but there isn't. They are lovely pants and I will try to exchange them for the next size down. I am 5'10 and 155 lbs and am swimming in the size 12!

Picked this because had so much luck with the 3. The 3 was still in excellent shape, but the handiness of the waterproof liner being on the inside or the outside was a no thinker. Many times on the trip last Summer, we had to stop off on the side of the road and place the liners on on the outside. They are great. The size is true to form, and with all the adjustments it will fit as though it was made just for you.
