Olympia Airglide 5 Jacket

The Olympia Airglide 5 Jacket is the latest generation of a multi-season touring juggernaut. The ballistic mesh and 500 denier Cordura shell provides industry leading abrasion resistance and a hurricane of airflow when the weather is warm. When the temp drops the Airglide 5's three layer system tailors your comfort to any season or weather condition. The two layer liner offers both a waterproof / breathable barrier against the elements and the Termolite insulated liner keeps you nice and toasty. Olympia has even gone as far as to make the rain layer so versatile that it can be worn over or under the jacket, as well as by itself. The thermal layer can be worn both in the jacket or inside the rain layer, for the ultimate destination liner.

Along with true 3 to 4 season riding comfort, the Olympia Airglide 5 boasts bountiful protection. Removable CE rated Motion Flex armor covers your shoulders, elbows and back. 3M Scotchlite piping wraps around back yoke, arms, shoulders and collar to boost visibility at night and low-viz weather conditions. For riders looking for multi-season comfort and protection, the Olympia Airglide 5 is truly one jacket to rule them all.

Features:

  • Outer shell constructed in 500 denier Cordura fabric with ballistic airflow mesh panels

Stylish and practical jacket for price.
Frankly, the purpose of protective gear is to "protect" I have not gone down in this jacket and I don't plan on it. I ride a Goldwing. When I road raced I went down plenty and my full leathers protected me great. I don't know how this jacket will fair if I were to come off the bike. Manufacturers swear it is as good as leather. I don't know. The jacket is cooler than leather. Good air flow. Lots of pockets. Has the armor where it needs to be and is stylish. My opinion is for the money it is best in class. Has three liners. In summer I only wear outer jacket. The rain liner also makes a stylish leisure jacket.
My wife and I both have the yellow and black. Very visible and I definitely notice that people see us when on the road.

Love jacket, fit was small and tight
After looking at many mesh jackets in all price ranges, I called RevZilla to ask questions. The staff was awesome. I chose this jacket in a size small because that is what my measurements called for. Jacket arrived in five days like they said. All excited to open box and try on jacket.......bummer, jacket was way to tight....could not move my arms. I called customer service and they sent out a size medium the next day. Five days later jacket arrive....PERFECT FIT...... I called customer service once again to thank them for their knowledge of gear and their prompt service. Five STAR company to do business with. Thank you. Dr. Wayne

Multi Season Jacket That Fits Big and Round Guys
I was struggling to find a jacket and pants that looked like it would extend around my generous middle, be wearable for most seasons here in Cincinnati and still not break the bank. After a couple very helpful emails from Pete at Revzilla customer service, I knew I had found the riding gear for the rotund man!

Luckily (or perhaps not for this review) I've not been out in the rain yet, but I have been out on a couple of 30-ish degree mornings, a couple of glorious 70 degree days and a mix of stuff in between. The rain/wind liner and thermal component were great in cold weather. They were almost too warm for me over my work polo, but I only have a fifteen minute commute so it was bearable. I think with both liners in and a warm base of my own I could use this jacket into some really cold temps.

Air flow has been great on the nice days! I've caught a couple of warm days this spring and been out with just a T-shirt and shorts underneath the jacket and pants and they were both super easy to live with.

I'm so thankful I emailed about finding a jacket that would fit and that Pete replied with good info. I'm only 5' 9", but weigh about 265. My chest is 53.5", belly 55" and hip area (where I actually wear my pants) 47". This jacket is perfect for me at this weight. The sleeves are a touch long for me, but they have a hook and loop closure so they work out well enough (not the jackets fault it was built for someone taller). Sitting on the bike the front rides right at the waist of my pants and the back covers my rear end just fine.

I've been losing weight, so I wanted to get something that I filled out now, but could shrink/be adjusted as more pounds come off. I'm wearing the XXXL with the waist belt fully extended and the snaps in the middle at their most generous setting. I think I'll be able to lose 40 more pounds before this jacket is just hugely too big and I have to downsize, but until that happens I plan on wearing it every time I ride.

Thanks to Olympia and Revzilla!

Awesome jacket
This is a great 3 season summer jacket. I am 5'10", 200 lbs with broad shoulders and a belly. I went with the XL which fits me well. There is plenty of room and maybe a little loose without the 2 liners. The large was too tight at the shoulders for me but I have broad shoulders. It is an American fit that works well if you are not real slim and it is complimentary for my build in the all black. It is also very adjustable.

This is a VERY comfortable jacket with 2 liners that are both useful and excellent quality. In the cold wearing the 2 liners works very well. For me, having no real windshield on my naked FZ8, the thermal layer is the next to come off. The outer shell with the windbreaker is warmer than the outer shell with thermal liner at speed. I was real happy to find that both liners are compact enough to fit inside my small tail bag.

Armor is excellent. Not too big or bulky and has CE rated back armor which by itself makes this jacket a really good deal compared to other jackets in the same price range which mostly do not have CE rated back armor. The folks at Olympia really got it right with this one.

Strangely, the zipper to attach the jacket to pants, while the correct size, is going the opposite way for my firstgear pants. I will need to have some alteration done to correct that.

There's a good reason why this jacket has such a high satisfaction rating.

Excellent air flow.
I purchased the Olympia Airglide 5 about a month ago and wanted to wear it a few times prior to writing my review. I just returned from a week long trip from Michigan to North Carolina and back. With temperatures ranging between the low 70's to the low 100's and the humidity was very high with chances of rain daily. As the title states, this jacket has excellent air flow. I had to constantly check to see if the jacket was zipped all the way up because it felt as if it was zipped open (this was a good thing). Once the temperature reached about 85 degrees it started to become unbearable. (I think I will purchase a cooling vest to wear when the temperature and humidity become unbearable.) All of the zipper were easy to operate with gloves on. I did have a couple of zipper snags with the mesh liner but, it was very easy to unzip to remove the snag. I am not a fan of the way the cuffs adjust. It is hard to get a snug fit around my wrists while trying to hold the cuff and tightening the velcro with the other hand. The jacket without the thermal liner and rain liner was a little loose on me, but it has enough adjustments to correct the loose fit. I did try on the jacket with both liners in the main shell and it fit perfectly. I got the opportunity to use the rain jacket in combination with my Frogg Togg pants and stayed very dry. The collar (which is very comfortable) kept the water from running down my neck. Overall I am VERY happy with my new Airglide 5 and would purchase it again.

Not true to video sizing
I ordered this jacket size by watching video. The video had a model several inches over 6' and 215 lbs and was wearing a large. I weigh 185 and 5'10" so I ordered a medium. Way to small. First of all it took 8 days to get jacket. Then to return...another 8 days. Will buy from local retailer next time. They should have shipped re sized jacket overnight at no charge. Revzilla....you should try several models in different body sizes in your videos to help people get the right size without waiting a half a month to get the right jacket.

Great Airflow, Nice Fit, Versatile
The first big question was what size to order. I'm 6'2' and 200 lbs with a mildly athletic build. I ordered a size Large which fits me well with both liners in or without.

I ordered the Airglide to replace my Dianese Super Speed D-Dry jacket. I'm from Pennsylvania, spent years in Richmond, VA, and California before moving to Nashville. The heat and humidity in Nashville can be overbearing in comparison. The Dianese I purchased last year couldn't handle it. The airflow wasn't enough and particularly the sleeves didn't flow air well enough. The inner rain liner left me soaked. I ride my bike to work every day 40 miles one way in all conditions. I bit the bullet, put the Dianese up for sale and bought the Olympia Airglide hoping to find a versatile jacket with better airflow. The Olympia flows air much better than the Dianese including the arms and body of the jacket. The cuffs open up nice to allow for different glove styles. I use short cuff and gauntlet depending on the weather.

I really like the idea of using the rain jacket on the outside. It includes the thermolite liner wihich in Nashville will stretch the jacket into late fall. If I'm riding back east in PA, I'm moving to a gore-tex jacket for late fall. After riding for years in varying conditions, a jacket that leans summer, spring, fall and a separate jacket that leans fall, winter works best for me depending on where I'm riding.

The only minor issue I can find is perhaps upgrading the armor to CE level 2.

Overall, great fit, great airflow, versatile and a jacket I can stretch late into the season in TN.

Nice 3 Season Jacket
I like that this jacket has a removable liner and a removable rain jacket. When cold you can leave all the items in and stay warm. When hot just remove for a light, breathable jacket with good protection. Hoping to never use the protection but we'll see. The only negative I have is the velcro at the neck. I can't seem to get it as comfortable as I would like. Overall a nice jacket with good adjust-ability.

Better then I honestly expected.
I've been wearing the AG5 on my commutes to work and around town in after hours. I'm impressed with the air flow during the 90+ degree days I've been wearing this gear. I also took the MSF course with the AG5 and it still performed very well in high temps even at slow speeds. I have yet to employ the rain liner or thermo liner but that will change in the near future.

The styling is very sporty and looks great in the Hi-Viz colorway I choose. I like the cuts and the overall design is up to date and not over the top with labeling or unnecessary lines. The Waterproof/Thermolite liner system is a huge plus and when in the jacket will make the overall jacket system bulkier and little tighter in fit. I did size the jacket to my height as recommended by Olympia. I'm 186lbs standing 6'3" with an average build. The 3M piping is certainly a safety feature of the jacket but I do enjoy the attempt to make it a part of the aesthetic appeal.

Protection is top notch. The armor is CE rated and doesn't get in your way or move about on you. If it moves you to replace with breathable armor you can but I find the included protection to be sufficient. The Cordura is fitted in all the right places and should offer ample protection in the event of a slide. The selling point for me with this jacket is the belt loop attachment and the zipper to seal the jacket to the AG4 pant. I even got compliments on the quality and protection offered by my Olympia gear from my rider coaches.

Have not gotten to test durability yet, luckily. Other than that very happy
It seems very well constructed and designed, and has an ample number of pockets. I will say that the pockets could be a little bigger. I don't have a large phone, but if it was a phablet I don't think it would fit. The fit is just right for me. I am 5' 10" and 165 and bought a medium.
