Crash Tested
I lowsided at around 30 mph and went down squarely on my left shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee pads. (Also wearing a Phoenix Ion jacket.) After I tumbled to a stop in a muddy cornfield, I jumped up to get the bike vertical and tell the poor car following me that I was fine. That's the takeaway. These pants let me walk away without a scratch. I'm certain I would have gone to the ER had I been wearing jeans. The same could be said for most motorcycle pants I'm sure, but you really should have some thick CE hip pads like these come with. Most pants only include foam placeholder hip 'protection,' if any. For the price they did their job well. Post crash inspection revealed quite a few rips and tears around the knee and shin area. You probably wouldn't want to dismount at 60 wearing these. I've subsequently replaced them with Olympia Renegade pants which appear to be far more abrasion resistant and of better fit and build quality. I slotted my flawless Phoenix Ion hip pads into their appropriate insert pockets in the Olympias, and replaced the knee armor with Forcefield. The Phoenix knee armor is fairly uncomfortable and the Forcefields are a great and comfortable upgrade.

Be careful when choosing a size
I originally ordered these pants in a Medium, which according to the size chart, is a 32-33 waist with a 34 inseam. I normally am a 31-32 inch waist with a 32 inch inseam. The pants I received were true to size. My mistake was, thinking a smaller pair would better suit me, returned them for a small/small or a 30-31 inch waist and a 32 inch inseam. Big mistake. The waist was too small and the inseam too short, particularly when riding. The lesson to be learned here is order your normal waist size and go with the longer inseam than normal; 34 versus 32 for instance. The pants will fit your waist and you'll have some extra length in the inseam for "ride up" when out on your bike. Hope this input helps those trying to figure out which size to order.

Bad Snaps
Just like every other review: The snaps don't work. Period. They are a complete and total fail and Revzilla should just ship new snaps with every order.

So, go to the Wally store, or a Home Depot type of box store and buy a package of snaps. $4.69. Take a pair of pliers / wire cutters and bend/cut the old snaps out, (cut the snap, not the material) fit the new snaps in, and then:

The pants are perfect.

It took me 10 minutes. And there was a hot chick in the snaps isle at home depot. You should be so lucky.

Finally, mesh pants I'm happy with
I thought I'd try to help out and get the first review up.

Fit: they seem true to size. I have a 36" waist and got the large. They were a bit tight at first but seemed to have stretched just enough to be comfortable. They seem a little longer than my other two pairs of mesh pants but are fine.

Style: I got the black, and while these aren't intended to be flashy or racy, they do look good and there's a quite a lot of reflective piping.

Comfort: this is my 3rd pair of this type of pant, including A-Stars Oxygen Air. These are by far the most comfortable. The liner is ... silky and comfy but what I notice and like the most is that when I'm seated on the bike the knee pads don't get stuck in position; they move a little more freely. Otherwise I would frequently have to move the pads higher on my knee as I ride. Big step up over all my pants here.

Airflow: now we're talking. Again, the best of my 3 pairs of mesh pants. Awesome airflow.

Lastly, I have two Joe Rocket jackets, one with a zipper and one with loops, this will accommodate both. And they do come with decent hip pads, not just a thin foam pad.

Absolutely glad I pre-ordered these and am very happy with them.

Looks ok but TOO BIG
I'm 5'6/7 130lbs and wear 30x30 jeans but my inseam is 28/29... Ordered these in a small short. The waist fit me perfect but these were BAGGY...

They were so long I they past my dirt bike boots.

Also, these are made for big guys with more meat on there legs. I was able to grab handfuls of excess pants on the side of my leg, I could probably fit my legs into one pant leg. No offense big guys lol.

However, they seemed well built with standard hip protection and would probably wear them had they fit my skinnies. They also flow good air.

My search continues.

Finally, pants that fit
So far I'm quite pleased with these pants. They fit well, breathe better than Kevlar jeans, and I can put them on and off easily over my uniform. Yes, the snaps suck as everyone else has said, but that is a fix you can make yourself with basic tools and minimal expense.
I got these pants because I'm tired of paying a bunch of money for riding pants that I have to have altered. I'm 5' 7", 150 lbs, with a 30" inseam. And the "short medium" size fit like a champ! There is good room for adjustment depending on what I'm wearing under [shorts, uniform, etc], and they are very easy to pull these on over pants and boots. I did try to modify the snaps to make them tighter, but to no avail. They still popped when bending at the waist to zip the pants shut. Other than the snaps, I'm pleased with the quality at this price point.

Great quality
These pants are perfect for summer riding. Good quality, protection and air flow. All the reviews that commented on the snaps being poor are correct. I purchased these pants with that in mind. I replaced the snaps at a tailor for $20.00. (They really are terrible, you snap together and lightly touch them and they undo).

But besides that, thrilled with them. They still deserve a 5 star rating.

As far as the fit I purchased a large short. I am 5'7" and 175 lbs. I would say you could be 2" shorter or taller and between 165 to 180 at my height. Another comparison is I where a 33/29 Levis 501.

On hot days it is difficult to dress in protective gear, this is the answer. I have tried underwear protection under jeans and also leather, this is the hot weather solution.

Darn good pants for the price
Love them! I don't have the snap problem, even though I have the 5XL units. They fit true to the guide; I cinched up the velcro sides a bit to tighten the waist, but the rest fits great.

Only downside was that the kneepads always rotated towards the inside of my knees, and the pads are minimal at best. No problem, I picked up the Forcefield replacement knee pads from Revzilla. They fill the pocket nearly completely and STAY PUT on my knees! Now these are the perfect pants - and they flow a LOT of air.

Good fit, best design yet
I have had several versions of the Phoenix pants over the year. I do like this one very well. First problem I ran into was the seat of the pants were very slick on my new Corbin seat. I was sliding all over the place. I washed with baking soda and scrubbed the bottom of them to ruff them up a little. It is much better now. Would be nice if they had a bit of grip to them. As they get soiled/wear more I think it will get better.

One thing I like better is the polyester pouch/cover for kneepads, feels much better on my skin when wearing shorts. Earlier versions would rub me the wrong way.

Another thing I like better are the leg zippers. I like how they are on the inside of leg instead of outside. They are big nice zippers and easier to get leg in and out with shoes on. Velcro around shoes to adjust is nice as well.

I'm 5' 6" 29in inseam 34 waist and these fit satisfactory. Can't find any other brand pants that are short enough for me. Knee pads sit just about right when on the bike.

Only thing I don't like are the waist buttons, they seems to pop out easily. Soon as I get on bike one may pop off which is annoying.

Overall don't think you can find a better pant for the price.
