If you look closely at the Q3+, there''s a dark grey section 2 3/4" wide in the center of the tire. I think that's the harder compound. So far I've put 1800 miles on the Q3+, and the profile is still round; no "flat spot" down the center. I doubt if I'll get more than 2500 miles out of this tire, but the last 1000 miles will most likely be without that annoying flat spot....

Next track day, I had the tire guy mount my Q3+ and headed out for my 1st session (after spending 20 minutes trying to get the rear wheel back on the bike alone!). Here's my opinion after 3 track days on them. The first thing I noticed is that the compound seems to feel different to the touch. Kind of like a space age polymer instead of that old sticky rubber I was used to seeing. It could be my imagination but it just seemed different. Not bad, just different. The next thing I noticed is that there seems to be a very small "dip??" at the very outside edge of the contact surface. I thought I had left a chicken strip on the tire after my first session but it never went away. There may be some sort of 1/8"-3/16" of tire outside of the contact surface that is lower than the rest of the tire . Odd but not any kind of issue. the last thing I can say is that the wear on the surface of the tire seems to be much finer. What I mean is that the Q3's looked like any sticky black track tire with part of the rubber worn into shedding pieces across the track surface. It also collects other worn rubber from the track and almost vulcanizes to your own tire. The new tire seems to have the same type of wear but a much less coarse version of it. And I don't remember seeing any rubber chunk fused to it after a session or day is done.
Aside from these small oddities compared with the Q3, the Q3+ seems to feel almost identical to the Q3. I feel just as comfortable on one versus the other. I don't ride on the street anymore so I cannot comment on the tire life on the street. I broke down and swapped the fairings to race bodywork, so I can't take it on the street anymore. My season in NJ is over for the year I would guess at this point (unless Halloween weekend is still warm like it has been!!). So I'll have to wait to see if I get more than 5 track days out of them.
If you have never had a track-oriented tire on your bike and you like to hang off the side of your bike. I would highly recommend trying a set. The worst that can happen is you have to buy another set of tires in a while. But you'll get more than your money's worth in learning.
I left the grip and tread life as 4's because I figure I full sticky slick of some type is going to be a 5 in grip and probably a 1 in tread life. As street tire like my Battlax BT016's is going to be a 5 in tread life but a 2 or 3 in grip. SO no knock on the Q3+ tires, that's just where they fit in the spectrum in my mind. You may be very surprise though how sticky a 4 star tire can be!! ; )

Having only ridden on these for about 100 miles, i cannot comment on the longevity. It does seem like they will last longer than the old Q3's due to the center strip of harder compound.

When I heard of the Q3+ I was interested. I had the Q3 on my last 600 sport bike and loved it. Knowing my bike was heavy and big, I was skeptical, but I went for it. And wow, just... WOW!
The tires LOCK on turns, gave great grip on acceleration, and the profile is so sexy. If your bike fits it, id recommend the 190 size. Makes the rear looks so much better, especially if you have a single sided swing arm like mine.
Can't be the price. I love these tires!
I ride a 2007 gsxr1000, once the tires heat up, i have no problem taking the bike in to the corners with confidence,
I will sometimes put anywhere from 150 to 200 miles on in a day of riding time with these tires, so when my friends are thinking about getting some new tires I tell them, that they need to try a set of these tires (the best deal is at revzilla) cause you will not be disappointed in these tires,
but the only down fall that i can think of is that these tire do not have a long tread life, but for the performance outstanding

Street: you cant override this tire on the street on dry conditions. Works extremely well. Super quick warm up and very sticky. The new center compound gives a lot of extra millage compare to the old version and saves money!
Rain: even on a 600 still very easy to lock the front tire in rain and to spin the rear on roll on acceleration! on lean grip is good better and tire works well if you hang off enough.
Track: impressive tire for up to intermediate class. Hold very well and you don`t need tire warmers. Warm up time is impressive , but at the same time overheats real quick also which is not good.
The thing which really disappoint me is that the track life of this tire is super short ! You will be lucky if you get 2 track days on hot weather. And around 200$ (with the install) is kind of pricey if you go often. They promise up to 10 track days for the Q3+ thats why i was excited to thy it out after the Q3. I don`t know how they come up with this but its no where near that. I have to switch brands unfortunately , even I love this tire!
