AETHER Skyline Motorcycle Jacket

The Skyline Motorcycle Jacket was designed for the urban rider looking for advanced protection with a refined sense of style. The jacket is made from specially engineered Japanese Field Nylon fabric. Its heavy-duty 3-layer shell is highly abrasion resistant, waterproof and surprisingly breathable.

Designed for the specific ergonomics of motorcycle riding, the Skyline has been constructed with articulated elbows and shoulders for ease of movement. A two-way front zipper allows the wearer to adjust how the bottom hem sits while seated. Weatherproof pit zip vents let cool air enter the jacket, while back vents allow it to exit. The exterior chest pockets are lined with mesh, while an internal VELCRO® brand closure pouch keeps contents safely stowed. Brushed-tricot lining along the inside of the collar, zippered cuff adjustments and a reinforced snap placket add to the jacket’s subtle detail work.

With its refined style and rugged durability, the Skyline is prepared for wherever the open road may lead you.

Excellent jacket if you want to splurge on style
I think this is just an awesome jacket for anyone commuting to work or living in an urban environment. I've gotten compliments on it from people who didn't know it was a motorcycle jacket. The venting and air circulation is extremely good but I"ve also ridden it in 45F weather (typically 30 minute rides) and felt fine. So far it's waterproofing has held up during commutes in rain. I bought it in autumn so I"m still waiting to see what it's upper temperature limit might be for me. It is very costly for relatively few features, and it is definitely not an all year jacket (though someone told me he's worn it three seasons). Also, as a note, it's a rather thin long cut, so be careful picking a size. But I think it's the best looking textile jacket on the market.

High end jacket; will likely last a lifetime
I bought this jacket after seeing one in person in NYC a few months ago. Styling is really appealing to me - looks more like a nice medium weight utility jacket than it does like a high performance motorcycle jacket.

I am 5'11" / 175 lbs and initially ordered a Size 2 per the video here on RevZilla. It was too tight. The 3 fits well.

There's no question the jacket is super well made, the stitching and finish is top notch, and the material feels very pliable but like it also has very good abrasion resistance (much better than the average textile jacket I have owned). That said, I have not yet tested the abrasion resistance personally.

I am still evaluating the purchase overall. I never thought I would spend this kind of $ on a 'basic' jacket, but I think the combo of design quality, fit, and finish combined with the level of protection makes it worth the extra few hundred $ over the competitors' assortment of 'nice' riding jackets.

Pretty good protection in a one off
Went down doing @ 30mph in this thing and slid about 40 feet on gravel in a median. Jacket sleeve is ripped in two places w/ a hole torn thru it but my elbow only had a dime sized road rash. This was the most expensive and most protective jacket I've owned so its hard to compare value/protection with other jackets but I know I would be in much, much worse shape without it. Think the gravel had a lot to do with the tears.. Sucks that I used it up but it saved me WAY more than 6 bills...

fantastic Jacket
This is the most expensive jacket I bought to date. But by far the most stylish one. It has a great style and I actually wear it as a regular jacket in to town as well. It looks classic and it fits nearly with every biker style to my opinion. It is timeless. It has great breathability with the extra under arm zippers and back zippers. Sitting in riding position it covers the arms and it leaves space to move comfortably. There are two minor details that I think is a pity: 1) it is a bit cold on the colder days, since it's breathability is good you should wear a thin layer over it in the winter. 2) the lowest button might rub the tank if you sit as close to the fuel tank as I do. But I can strongly recommend this jacket. I simply love it.

Amazing quality and looks
No different from other reviews. This looks great, is well made, and fits slim. I'm 5' 11" and weigh 160 and I ordered the Size 1. It's not too tight, fits just right. The pockets are lined with some sort of microfiber which feels good to the touch and is easy on your phone. I'll wear this as a 4 season jacket, just need an extra layer underneath. Button snaps feel crisp. Zippers are solid. It was a hard pill to swallow at checkout, but when it arrived I knew I had made the right choice.

Great Jacket
This is a great jacket. I recently did a 2800km ride in this jacket and it perform admirably. I did not had the chance to test its waterproof functionality so I cant comment on it. However, the venting on the jacket was very good.

Pros:
1. Stylish
2. Comfortable
3. The jacket vents very well in moderate temperatures (28C max reached during the trip)

Cons:
1. The bottom metallic button might rub against the tank
2. You will need additional warming layer in cool weather

At home on a dinner date or an interstate tour.
This jacket was my first foray into the Aether brand. I have a motorcycle for touring but as I live in SF, I find myself using it as a practical means of transportation, too. After a while, I got tired of looking like a Stormtrooper every time I showed up to a meeting or dinner with the lady so I started looking for a stylish, practical jacket to wear in these situations. There are a lot of options out there but most of the city-oriented jackets were either lower quality or not vented well enough for my liking. Then I found the Skyline jacket.

Besides being an incredibly clean, stylish jacket the thing performs insanely well, too. I've even worn it on a couple short one and two night trips. I can throw a hoodie on underneath it and stay toasty-warm or rock a t-shirt/base layer with all of the vents opened up to keep cool. It's important to note, the buttons over the zipper are arranged in such a manner that if you unzip the jacket, then button it up, it swallows tons of air.

Yes, it's a premium garment but I still feel like I got way more than I bargained for when I bought this jacket. The D30 armor (back protector included!), waterproof materials, flexibility in temperature ranges, and just plain ol' sexy design.

Worth it
This is the most I've spent on a jacket, or any article of clothing. Lets get that out of the way. I can truly say I made the right decision picking up this jacket though. The style lends itself well to cruising around on my bike, getting off road through the woods and walking through the city and into work. It does it all.

On top of this, its super functional. Fully armored, completely waterproof, and best of all backed by a life time warranty. There is actually a tag right in the jacket that says so, if thats not peace of mind, I don't know what is. To the point; I've been in some brutal rain storms and am completely dry with this jacket. I was a little concerned before buying it that there didn't appear to be a fun storm flap around the zipper, but this hasn't been an issue. Plus the cut of the jacket covers in all the right areas so no rain gets in around the sleeves, above the neck, or from underneath.

Speaking of the cut - listen to the video. Go a size small. I was skeptical and got both at first because Revzilla is awesome and has no restocking fees. I'm 6' 170 and pretty fit. I wear a medium in everything. The small or 1 in this case fits me perfectly. The medium (2) was massive around the neck and waste. This jacket also has sleeves that are long enough for my arms. Finally. the sleeve are a perfect length, though could have a little more room in the forearms... but thats a pretty regular for me - I climb a lot and thus have weirdly large forearms in proportion to the rest of my body.. its a thing. My other big concern was the lack of shoulder gussets on this bad boy. I've torn out the shoulders on multiple other jackets (cough cough.. Rev'it Melville...) and this has plenty of room to reach for the handle bars and just generally live in the jacket.

It's great, I love it. Buy it. Also of note, the great is darker than pictured. It looks way nicer than it looks online.

will keep forevor
Overall this is an impressive garment that really does look good in any situation, I often wear mine to dinner dates with a shirt and tie underneath if I ride my motorcycle. I especially like how easy it is to remove the padding which transforms it from a motorcycle jacket to a fashionable coat. I've had mine for around 5 months now and it still looks like new and is aging very well. As stated in the video, this is a jacket designed for slimmer builds so if you are heavier or have bulky arms it may not be the right pick for you. As we head into winter in Colorado, It's losing it's ability to keep me warm and lets in a lot of air, so I would definitely recommend it for summer/fall riding or someone in warmer climates which seems to be what it's designed for. Overall I love it and am happy with my purchase

Looks great, feels great. 5'7", 139lbs, trim build. Size 1 (small) fits real well at shoulders, chest, waist. Sleeves are way too long, almost to finger tips. Elbow armor is too high and not adjustable - I'd guess long sleeves would make elbow pads low. Shoulder armor sits to the back rather than centered on top of shoulder and upper arm. Jacket armor usually fits me well. I would have loved this jacket but had to return it.

Will this jacket be too hot for summer riding in the Southeast?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In the world of motorcycle equipments too hot is a relative term any equipment that protects you for the slide is going to be a bit warmer however the jacket itself looks great protects really well. It has enough ventilation where if you do get hot the good news is you could turn the AC up but just twisting the throttle! Lol
What CE certificiation level are the armor inserts in the shoulders, elbow, and back?
