More product than I thought it would be.
Lets start with bang for the buck. Truthfully this is a stupid question, especially compared to the cost of a MRI or Cat scan. If this will allow you to stand up and walk away from an accident compared to no protection, it is 100% worth the money. But then again I'm a European living and riding in America in the south where wife beater shirts seem to be the preferred choice of protection.

Yes people stare and ask questions like, "Arn't you hot in that?" Yes I am but when I'm moving life is a lot easier, and cooler. I like to wear ATGATT, and that includes full leathers on an FJR or my SV650, amongst some of the bikes I have.

So looking to wear a different type of clothing, such as a Textile, something with more air flow than a leather, I find that the protection offered is not always up to the level I would like. I believe that if the best protection that will still allow me to ride is available then I should use it, and to me that is a level 2, but in a lot of jackets and pants, they are built for the standard American body style. Meaning the shoulders flop down, the elbow protectors are more like wrist guards, and my cats bedding has more protection than the back protectors.Yes I know I can replace a lot of the cheap protectors with inserts, but they still miss the mark.

With this Shirt I find that the protection pads are comfortable and in the right place, and after sometime, especially while riding, unnoticeable. They also afford me the best protection I can buy. I know people will have opinions, and some very sound opinions on how another product might have a better level of protection because of some new property or development, but in general I'm looking for the best I can find from the top products. And the nice thing about this shirt is that you might be able to customize the protection pads by replacing the ones fitted with others that you deemed more protecting.

Now air flow, lest just say when you have a dinner plate sized chest plate with small holes, but the plate is flat against you chest, don't expect too much flow to be felt beating on your manly pecs, it won't, but the flow of air over the whole of the suit to remove heat is surprisingly good. It does help if you are using more than just a vented leather jacket or suit.

And this is why I'm so happy with what I bought, although one would consider extremely expensive, but compared to an MRI is cheap, I can find any old jacket that will afford me some abrasive protection, and know that underneath protecting old bones is an exoskeleton of new technology. Now granted I still can be breaking ribs and arms etc., that is the nature of trying to bend the laws of physics, but hopefully I have lessened the blow.

The downside to this product is the well fitting form, and material, which means some of us are fighting the resistance to expansion as we try to put it on. I'm wondering how long the seems will last, especially with the cost of a new shirt minus the armor being in the $100+ price range. I mention this as I use this shirt every time I ride, and cringe every time i hear a slight tear.

I have found that when ever you look to protect yourself with ever increasing protection, air flow becomes less, which only makes sense, you protect more of your body area. Point in question, I bought upgraded gloves that are almost track entry, but they are supposed to have more air flow, not. They have air flow, but the protection they afford to be able to be considered for track means that have more material, you know where I'm going with this.

In closing, I'm happy with my purchase, I have protection that I can use on the road under many different conditions and clothing, while I also have protection when I go to Novice track days, and maybe Intermediate days under a leather suit. The next step would be an Air vest such as the Alpinestars, but you still need elbow protection. My next protection purchase will be something similar to this shirt but for the pants section. Looking to the Klim on that. I know some are wondering why I even ride if I need so much protection, but the answer is this, I know one day it might happen, and I don't want it to stop me from riding, so I will do everything I can to make that happen.

Crash tested.
Unfortunately, I recently had the opportunity to test this armor out. I was going roughly 60-65mph on my TW200 (I know...) down the interstate when I encountered a nasty tank slapper. Wasn't able to ride it out and ended up low siding into a tumble.

This armor piece provided so much protection and cushioning that it felt like someone was gently patting me on my back and chest as I skipped across the concrete. It protected me so well that I actually came out of the crash virtually unscathed. I have not been able to find a single bruise on my body.

The armor itself held up rather well. The lowest portion of the back armor is slightly lopsided now, and some of the stretchy shirt material in that area is torn from the road, but otherwise the armor itself seems perfectly serviceable.

Other critiques:
I found the armor to lack air flow, but I wasn't expecting much flow from layered armor with this much coverage. The elbow/forearm guards did not seem to want to stay in place at first, but once you put on a jacket over this armor the pads will stay where you put them.

Not too much to complain about with this armor, I would trust my life to it again. I know it is expensive, but I believe it is worth every single penny after it saved me.
