Scorpion Exo-T510 Review: Day 1
I wanted to get a review up as soon as I could because I couldn't find any others online for this helmet. After just one day with the 510, these are my initial impressions.

Fit: (similar fit to Exo-400, Exo-410, Icon Airmada, Arai Signet-Q, Shoei GT-Air)

I was a bit nervous going into this purchase because I wasn't able to try it on before buying. I have a slightly longer head than your average person, so I often get the dreaded forehead hotspot.

The helmet fits great with a very slight pressure just above the forehead. Its not enough to hurt, but enough that I was aware of it my entire commute. I am confident that it will break in over time.

The helmet feels wider through the cheeks than others I've tried, but there are air bladders under the cheek pads that can be filled using a pump on the chin (kind of like the old Reebok pumps). The cheek pad pumps actually work great. I considered them a novelty at first, but after actually getting to try them out, I think they will see plenty of use. No word on durability yet.

Features:

The reason that I wanted this helmet was the drop down visor. 99% of my riding is commuting and I was tired of wearing sunglasses and changing out visors. The drop down tinted visor works great. Dark enough to ride directly into the sun and provides great coverage. You can also adjust how far you want it to drop down via a dial on the side of the helmet. The one drawback of the drop down visor is that it fogs, like a lot. I don't think there is any anti fog on it at all. Under 15 mph, be prepared for it.

The vents are all easy to open and close with gloves, have crisp movement and all feel very high quality. I was able to play with the vents on the highway and got a good feel for the airflow. The chin vent produces noticeable flow at just 25 mph, while the top vents didn't really kick in till about 50. Its hard to say how this helmet will do in the summer, but I would anticipate that it will provide enough air to keep your average commuter cool.

As I mentioned above, the cheep pad pumps do work very well and make the helmet easy to form to your face. This is a good thing because the helmet feels wider in the cheeks when the pump is deflated.

Noise:

The helmet is loud... louder than I expected anyway. My old daily commuter was an Exo-400, and even with a GoPro mount and a Sena SMH10 (bluetooth) hanging off the side, I still think it was quieter than the T510. You don't necessarily get a whistle, but you do hear the woosh of air going around the helmet. I tried to move my head around a bit, but it was still there. Not a deal breaker for a commuter (my commute is only 20 minutes each way), but might be annoying for a long trip.

Summary:

For the price, its the best helmet I have found with a drop down visor. Its comfortable, extremely well built and (in my opinion) a really good looking helmet. If, like me, you are looking for a good all around commuter that doesn't require you to change out shields every day, I'd say look no further.

I will try to keep up with the questions section on the helmet if anyone has something that wasn't covered in the review. Safe riding everyone.

Almost perfect
Literally the only thing that I could say that's not good about this helmet is that it has some fogging issues. No problem on sunny days but at night, especially on damp/ humid nights, I have to keep cracking open the face shield. Going to try some anti- fog coating when I get around to it. Otherwise a great helmet!

Excellent bang for your buck helmet
The EXO-T510 is probably the best bang for your buck helmet sub 250. Drop down visor with easy lever control, great ventilation again with easy controls, both while wearing gloves of course. Fit is true to size and is comfortable. Some might say the liner is Scorpions lower end liner but it doesn't matter it's still very soft and comfortable even after several hours of riding. The only thing I could knock is that it is a little on the noisy side but remember we are talking around the 200 range here. This helmet would be great for anyone newer to riding like myself and doesn't want to drop a bunch of money right away until they are more committed to riding but not sacrifice protection and comfort either. This helmet is also great for anyone wanting a solid helmet at a good price with leading features like quick change visor, drop down sun visor, speaker cut outs and solid ventilation. You really can't go wrong here at this price point.

Great helmet overall!
This helmet is awesome for just over $200! There is good airflow throughout the helmet with not too much increased noise. The shape is perfect and fits your head very well if you have an intermediate oval head, which most of us do. The drop down sun visor is nice, I have had that on most of my helmets and definitely prefer it over changing shields. It would be nice if it had a photochromatic shield (darkens with light exposer/ lightens in low light), but they wouldn't really hit the price point they are at if they added that. Understandable. I'm very happy that they made cut-out spaces for Bluetooth speakers. I have a Sena and this is a great feature. My only complaints would be the way you crack it for riding in town. There is a little lever on the bottom side of the visor to crack it or lock it. I find using it to crack it is kind of useless and if you flip it up to do so then flip your visor up all of the way, it wont reset the lever and wont let you shut your visor fully without resetting the lever to it's original position.

GREAT Bang for the Buck!!
I was deciding between two Scorpion helmets - the EXO-T1200 and the EXO-T510. The T1200 was $100 more than the T510, and you get the KwikWick lll liner with it, and it's a couple of ounces lighter. Didn't seem worth the extra $100 dollars to me.

So I went with the T510, and I am happy with my choice! You get a TON of goodies with this helmet. A real bang for the buck option for those of you that want a premium-feel helmet, for a budget price point.

PROS:
Drop-down sun visor. Anti-fog/scratch/shatter 100% UV protection face shield. The Air-Fit system (which really isn't necessary, but it helps add a little extra fit in some awkward places in the helmet). The KwikWick ll liner, which is super comfortable. No pressure points, AT ALL, on the helmet. Decent venting (8 out of 10 on that). Very light and comfortable.

CONS:
-I wish it had more than a DOT rating - maybe SNELL or ECE. But it seems solid enough, especially at the price. And Scorpion is a reputable company, so I'm not too worried about that.
-I listed the drop-down sun visor as a pro, but it has its cons, too. It isn't all that dark, but it does its job.
-The sizing chart isn't all that accurate, at least in my case. I measured the circumference of my head, and it put me in a large helmet size (59.5 cm, and I have a long-oval head shape). When I got it, the helmet felt too big, so I had to send it back for a medium, which fits much more secure. Not a huge issue, but it was a minor inconvenience. If you have a long-oval head shape, like me, you might want to plan on going a size down. Either way, it's not really a huge issue if you get the wrong fit. Free exchanges and CRAZY-fast shipping!

Overall, great helmet! Can't beat it for the price. Thanks, RevZilla! Recommended!

Best helmet I've owned
Scorpion has become my brand for helmets. They are comfortable and offer a wide view. I am more than pleased with both my Scorpions, and my fiance is happy with her helmet too! This particular helmet provides pretty good airflow but it's still pretty hot in the Gulf Coast for a full face helmet. The drop down visor is very useful and convenient. The Airfit helped to make the helmet fit my head and face, as if it were a custom fit. Because of the Airfit, it feels bigger than it should when you first put it on. Once you pump it up, it fits snug and provides more confidence. A great helmet, especially for the price.

Exactly what I ordered
This helmet is great. The top vent allows a huge amount of air to cool you off. My only complaint is when riding at highway speeds with all the vents closed, the rocker vents sometimes whistle. Is it loud? No. Can it be annoying? Yes. I just turn up my Sena and jam the night away.

Good price and reliable protection
I believe the helmet was worth the funds spent. It meets DOT standards, comfortable for the most part, but I would one up the size if you plan to incorporate an earpiece. It fits my big ass head a bit snug.

My head measures exactly 22 in which would put me at the high end of small and low end of medium. Should I get a small or medium?
Mark L on Mar 6, 2017
How does the fit compare to the Exo-410? I have a large scar on my forehead and am sensitive to any kind of pressure on the front. The 410 fits perfectly with no pressure points.
David V on Dec 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have the exo-r410 as well as the exo-t510, both in medium. the r410 fits more snug than the t510, but with the t510 airfit you can get it pretty snug around your cheeks. still feel more room over the top of my crown. they feel about the same on my forehead, although the t510 does seem to extend from my forehead more, possibly because of the inner drop down visor.
It yes this helmet eye glasses friendly ie easy to insert and remove them?
Chris R on Nov 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I can wear my glasses under the helmet without issue. There is also ample room for the internal visor to drop down in front of the glasses.

Id this a quiet helmet ?
Fred D on Mar 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Assuming you mean "Is this a quiet helmet?", I'd have to say no. Wind has no trouble getting up under the sides and chin. With the shield down and all the vents closed I can hear wind. It's no Shoei...just saying.
Will there be different visors available for this helmet?
A shopper on Nov 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! Visors are available in clear, smoke, dark smoke, silver mirror, blue mirror, and gold mirror. The same visors for this helmet also fit the R2000, R410, R710, and T1200.
If this helmet eye glasses friendly ie do they fit easily and easily inserted and removed?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I agree with Dave V, I have no trouble getting my glasses on/off with the helmet on. The visor is far enough forward that it could accommodate much larger glasses than I wear. Hope that helps.
Is it Australian standards?
A shopper on Feb 3, 2017
Is it enough that this is DOT approved? Why not ece or snell?
Michael H on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: About a week and a half ago, I had a deer blindside me and jump right into the side of me while riding. I didn't see it until the last second, as the place I was riding had dense foliage and tree cover. I hit the ground, as did my head, at about 40mph, and this helmet probably saved my life. The truth is that here is no helmet currently in existence that can protect you from every type of collision. Eventually, Newton's laws will win if the force of impact is great enough, but this helmet worked in my situation, and I only walked away with some cuts and bruises (my bike is getting fixed and will be good as new in about a week!). I'll definitely be getting this helmet again. I recommend this helmet, and unfortunately, found out the hard way that this helmet works... Pardon the pun.
As this helmet doesn't have the "city" position, but the R710 does, can the elliptec components be swapped out to obtain a "city" position on the visor?
Miguel d on Sep 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The T510 does have the city position as well as the ability to be locked closed.
