Garbage helmet
As well all know this is one of the baddest looking helmets on the market, however, thats all this thing is good for. At 70 the back vents sound like two whistling tea pots in both of your ears, straight up (I had to put duct tape over them to ride 3 hours). I went to remove the cheek pads to install a sound system and the plastic snaps pulled the anchor and half of the styrofoam liner right out of the shell. Completely destroyed the helmet on first removal. The glue is cheap, the quality is cheap, and the price is expensive.

Not worth the money
I pre-ordered this helmet and would not recommend it for many reasons. First ride with it SoCal 75 degree sunny weather, I literally played crack-open-the-visor game the whole ride to get rid of fog on the shield. I've have 10+ helmets and never seen one fog up so easily. The inner drop visor is completely useless as it has a very heavy distortion right at the bottom across the whole visor which inconveniently lands right in your center of view. My Icon Alliance for 1/3 of the price is more comfortable and just as good looking. All in all, this helmet seems like it was rushed through R&D and doesn't meet the $450 price tag.

Screaming Bandit
I REALLY wanted to love this helmet, and not only because it costs so much. The styling of the Simpson line is second to none and I was super excited that they'd finally put their attention squarely on a motorcycle lid, but for me this was a swing and a miss.

This biggest issue for me is that it's way, way too loud, and that's just putting around on surface streets at 30mph. When on the highway, even with earplugs this helmet screams (and roars and whistles). It's easily the loudest helmet I've ever owned. And with no adjustable venting, there's no way to try quieting it down other than putting tape over your vents and the brow of the faceshield (where the gasket doesn't seem to quite mate up perfectly).

There's some QC issues as well with mine...the logo on the front is just a sticker with no sealant and, consequently, is pulling up. The paint on my matte black was decent, but wasn't the quality you'd expect on a $500 helmet, a liner snap pulled out of the styrofoam while installing a Sena, the D-ring and strap seem to be really, really small/narrow/cheap. Just little things I'd expect on a much cheaper helmet but are really inexcusable here.

On the plus side, the venting is very, very good and the sun shield is nice. It's a bit heavy, but feels solid and the liner is comfortable. Oh, and that styling...again, second to none.

Live and learn. I picked up an RF-1200 after riding with the Bandit for a couple of weeks and am far happier with it. The Bandit sits in my garage and I can imagine very few situations where I'd ever want to ride with it again.

Dissappointed
In my opinion this is the best looking helmet I've seen. Coupled with the rave reviews it received I thought being in the market for a new helmet I loved the look.
The first one showed up (gloss black) and had blisters and fish-eyes (dust) in the clear coat. Not impressed. Revzilla was great to deal with on the return and promised next day delivery for a replacement. The replacement showed up 5 days later....damaged. Seems it had been shifting in the box enough that the clear coat has been worn right off the nose. Padding fits into the base of the helmet real poorly too. Not sure if this is standard Simpson quality control but......darn it!
So wanted one but at $594 CAD Can purchase the equivalent quality in an Icon-ish for 1/3 the price.......

came with broken lever for internal sun shades, if not for style I would have not reordered it, it looks like someone who really hates his job decided to assemble this helmet and what's the point of having a pinlock ready face shield when you don't have a pinlock for it, simpson needs to think big

It's a Simpson and I love it
I bought this helmet probably for the many reasons some of you are looking at it, it just looks cool, but it does have some great features. I, like many others in this review section was skeptical about this helmet, from all the reviews saying it came in with broken parts, "screaming bandit" due to the wind, and fogging up. First off, this helmet came in perfect with absolutely no defects. As far as the wind noise, I ride a Harley with Vance&Hines so i can't really hear it over the pipes. I did jump on a street bike and yes it's "loud" but definitely not unbearable, perfect for town commuting. As for the highway, I have not taken it out yet, but I always ride with ear plugs when I do. Besides the noise, this helmet does it job when it come to keeping you cool, it's a 100+ out and I haven't broke a sweat. I rode in the mountains, where it as 30 degrees cooler, and at stops this helmet did not fog up, pinlock did it's job. Favorite feature about this helmet though is the field of view! It's so wide I barley have to turn my head to see besides me. Now for fitment, I'm 60cm which is top end of the LG so I stuck with the LG and not step up to the XL. Fits tight, just needs some break in. All in all, if you ride a Shoei or Arai I would look somewhere else, I don't think this lid with compete with the features of those higher end models from other companies, unless you want it for the looks then by all means. This is just my simple review doing my best to help better your decision since this helmet isn't exactly cheap. Very satisfied with my purchase!

Worth the wait!!!
Size- as expected. Nice snug fit. Stout check pads will be perfect once broken in. Definitely measure your dome a few times to get the size right.

Vision- Outstanding vision! Prior Simpson models had a very narrow view. Pin lock is a great idea but not available yet. I've never had a helmet that didn't fog some when stationary. While riding, the whisker vents do their job very well. If your a heavy mouth breather, wear a half lid. Visor positions are positive and hold in what ever position you place it and sane speeds. If you're running around 100 mph with it up, what are you thinking?

Chin curtain- the trim around this area where it is installed has a few small creases. Nothing to hate about it, just wished it was cleaner looking. The chin curtain has scraped my forehead a few times, but I have a big forehead.

Chin strap tabs are tiny. Not only is there not a whole lot to grab on to, it's pretty slippery material. Make sure you got a hold of that bad boy.

Drop down sun visor- it works. If the helmet is the right fit, no problem with the bottom of the shield and your view. Lever could feel a bit more positive but it is fully functional. Not sure if it's possible to change it out without dicking something up. I guess time will tell.

Venting- They work pretty good. I can feel the air being sucked through the liner and out the top vents. Wind sound is ok. Not loud and irritating like older models but not silent either.

Finish- I got the matte black. It is very smooth. I found one tiny bump that is not as smooth as the rest of the helmet. All in all, it looks badass.

As of this moment, I'm stoked about the helmet. If you've been wearing Simpsons for a while, you'll feel the same way as I do. If you wear crotch rocket lids of +$400, don't buy this. It will disappoint when compared to a top of the line Shoei or Arai.

Garbage. Try before you buy.
So before I begin I'd like to mention the sole reason I was lured into this trap of a helmet was because a friend was selling it to me and because as a fan of Top Gear, The Stig made it look like the coolest thing ever. I typically use an HJC as my daily brain protector. I liked the looks and it had all the safety ratings (SNELL rating a must) I typically look for so in that regard it is solid. The construction is good and it doesn't feel cheap. However this helmet is merely meant for looks. If you just want to look cool with no regard to functionality than this for you. For starts, the visor design is probably one of the worst designs of any helmet I've ever used. Whoever in New Braunfels decided that the "pull the visor out of a cutout and up" was a good idea needs to be in the unemployment line. I cannot count how many times in the two weeks I owned this piece of garbage that I simply could not get the visor to open because the cutout design seemed close to impossible to use while wearing gloves. So the actual functionality itself sucks unless you plan on riding without gloves or have the worlds most precise hands. Next, let's discuss wind noise. Holy shit. This thing is a wind tunnel. I've owned everything from Shoei's to throwaway Bilts and the Ghost Bandit is far and away the loudest helmet I've ever worn. Freeway speeds? Forget that shit if you don't have earplugs, and with me having hearing that is shot thanks to a lovely time working with aircraft in the Marine Corps, I want to save what little hearing I have left and this helmet was unbearable at times even with earplugs. At times the wind noise was so intense I had to stop and pull off the road. Ventilation is okay I guess but for $450 it doesn't cut it. No top vents or anything. Just the ones on the chin area. Not sure what makes them think a helmet with little ventilation is worth $450, not when my $160 HJC breathes way better at least. This typically wouldn't be a totally big deal but when the visor constantly fogs up and the inherently broken design of the visor makes opening it an absolute bitch then sometimes you're gonna have a foggy field of view. The padding itself is actually fairly cozy so I'll give them credit there, as well as the divots in the padding to put a headset. This could be a great helmet, but to charge $450 for a helmet that is so ergonomically broken is downright extortion. I know now that the ONLY reason people wear these boat anchors is because the Harley Dyna Bro crowd with the flannels, tall socks and Vans have decided to make it their helmet of choice. The helmet itself looks great, but I want a helmet to do more than just look cool. Frankly, until these deficiencies are addressed I will probably never consider owning one again. I ended up selling it after only two weeks and put that money towards a Shoei. If possible, borrow one first and test it out in real world riding because if I had known what a piece of shit this thing was going to be I would have never bought it in the first place. You may like this helmet. Who knows. But I sold this thing and haven't lost much sleep over it since.

Excellent Product, but Not Worth the Price
The title says it all. It took me about two years to bit the bullet and buy this helmet.

After seeing hundreds of helmets on the market looking for "the one," I saw the Simpson Ghost Bandit, a helmet I really wanted, but was way out of my budget. The comments were very little as well which made me even more cautious. For the price, you can buy a high end, well ventilated and SNELL approved helmet for the same if not cheaper price.

Pros:
Let's be honest. The helmet is unique, has a broad range of visor color schemes, and it looks bad ass. It's almost as light as a Biltwell Gringo helmet, has easy bluetooth headset installation thanks to the indention under the helmet padding, and includes a chin curtain which blocks a fair amount of wind.

I knew my money was well spent when I realized there was nearly a non existent amount of wind buffeting when travelling above 65mph on my DR 650 (without a windscreen). Even on the windiest days, this helmet made me really happy on it's aerodynamic design. Definitely not a neck sore unlike my HJC CL-17. I don't even have to worry about turning my head on highway speeds. This helmet was designed very well for enthusiasts travelling without a wind screen.

Of the three other helmets I've owned, this one definitely turns heads. Riding around town with the matte finish and iridium visor, I've been getting a funny amount of attention than before.

Cons:

Rest in peace to anyone who rides with this helmet WITHOUT earplugs. My HJC was a tad quieter than the Ghost Bandit, no by much though. I won't say its like a steam kettle, but imagine standing very close to an underground subway station when riding over 35 miles an hour. Wind doesn't sneak beneath the padding and hits your ears, it's of a muffled wind noise outside of the helmet. This probably is easily fixed with a great pair of earplugs.

In the Revzilla review video, Anthony removes the padding pretty easily to demonstrate the inside design. On my attempt to install my headset, I felt that if I pulled away from the padding tabs incorrectly, they would rip out from the helmet's frame. So be very careful when removing these helmet pads.

When installing the SENA SMH 5 mounting bar, it fit perfectlt in front of the internal sun visor switch, however, when pulling the straps to put the helmet on, my fingers always hit the mounting bracket screws that stick out. So I suggest using the SENA stickers instead of the mount that stick between the helmet pads.

Summary:

It wouldn't have taken me years to buy this helmet if it were marked at about $300. Simpson helmet makes phenomenal helmets, but this just isn't SNELL approved, or even pleasing enough to spend that kind of money on when buyers will more likely buy an Arai or Shoei over this.

If I had another $500 to toss away, I'd by this helmet again and again as my daily. I don't imagine using any other helmet because it suits my riding lifestyle so well.

If you have the money and ride within city limits often and want a look over protection and utility, than this is the helmet for you.

Great Helmet!
Just got this helmet today and I'm already loving it. White/SM/Mirror visor

Fit: I measure at 56cm and I picked up a small, fits just right. The cheek pads are snug at first but I'm sure they'll break in.

Vision: Great wide field of view; everyone complains about their visors fogging up, but I'm not much of a mouth breather so I don't have that issue. I swapped the clear visor with a mirrored one and it was a snap (literally). The internal sun visor can be bit darker imo.

Weight: Super super light, I can barely feel it on.

Ventilation: Ventilation is great, it's clearly going to be noisy because of all the vents. Expect that. I have a 48 with a VH Big Radius system.

Chin Strap: One of the only CONs in my opinion, I like the chin strap system If the Biltwell Gringo better.. The one Simpson has is very very thin, there isn't much to grab into.

Bang for the Buck: Eh I don't think it's worth the price because we all know we can get an Arai or Shoei for the same price with better functionality. The Simpson style is top notch though.

Is there room on the left side to put a sena unit? Looks like the switch for the internal visor would be in the way
A shopper on Feb 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is I put my Sena 20s on mine. I put it right behind the switch for the internal sun visor. The only problem I ran into is cause of the shape of the bottom of the helmet I had to use two of the spacers it comes with to push the bracket out far enough so I could get the Sean unit on and off. But yes you can do it.
If I'm on that 59-60 size Large on the chart, should i still go a size down?
Alonso h on Feb 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The "size down" suggestion in the video was based on a Pre-Production model. Simpson did make the fit more true to their size chart since then. Go off their size chart! - Rania - Gear Geek at RevZilla
This helmet is listed on your site and Simpson's site as being ECE certified, yet in the video an annotation pops up stating the helmet is only DOT. So which is it? DOT/ECE or just DOT?
