REV'IT Pilot Jacket

The REVIT Pilot Jacket takes inspiration from classic Navy G3 style bomber jackets and blends it with the motocentric fit, performance and protection you would expect from REV'IT!. The classic design will never go out of style and looks as good on two wheels as it does in the open cockpit of a vintage biplane. The supple, abrasion resistant leather is comfortable and allows the jacket to age beautifully. Both the thermal liner and fleece collar are detachable; the latter of which can be flipped and locked to prevent wind chill from reaching your neck. Equipped with CE-rated Knox Lite armor and upgradable with a Seesoft CE-level 2 back protector, the Pilot Jacket takes protection as seriously as it does style.

Boxy cut, stiff leather
I'm 5'10" and 185lbs; I typically wear a 16.5/34 dress shirt and a 40R suit. I own many motorcycle jackets, especially Dainese/Alpinestars and am a size 52 in those. I also own a Large RSD Clash and a Medium RSD Ronin.

The buffalo leather on this RevIt jacket is stiff and doesn't exude that rich leather quality nor does it feel overly comfortable. The fit is boxy, with pronounced shoulder edges that resemble the boxy suit jackets from the 80's. The combination of stiff leather and boxy cut makes this jacket look and feel mediocre.

Trying it on at home in 60 degree F weather, the faux sheep liner feels warm but it's not very soft. Anthony was right that RevIt used faux sheepskin to suppress cost but compared to the real thing, it's a night and day difference in both appearance and softness/comfort. Also, when wearing, the snap button that secures the lined collar to the jacket is visible (you can see it in the ZLA review vid too) which is a detractor to me.

I'm not impressed by this jacket, especially for the price, so it'll go back to ZLA. It's a pity since a sheepskin lined (and armored) bomber jacket would have been a unique alternative to other jackets currently on the market.

Satisfied - but jacket does have issues
Measurements: 6'3.5", 190lbs, 39" chest, bought a size 52 in black.

Likes:
1) Fitment is great - a little on the loose side because I sized up to accommodate height, weight gain, layering, and comfort off the bike. Sleeves fall right where they should at the base of my thumb.
2)Style is on point. It's a timeless look that works well on and off the bike. I usually rock it with black or light wash blue jeans.

Dislikes:
1)The buttons for the sheepskin collar unsnap too easily. The buttons for the bottom hem and at the sleeves too - I find that I'm always unsnapping them by accident when putting the jacket on or taking it off. Hopefully this isn't something that will get worse as times goes on.
2)The zipper is hard to get all the way up. The very first time I put the jacket on, I accidentally ripped the leather zipper pull off the metal zipper. Pretty irritating but not the end of the world. I don't think the pulls indicate lack of quality throughout the rest of the design. The jacket seems solidly put together.

Overall, I like the aesthetic and fitment enough to deal with the shortcomings. But for almost $700, it's a case by case basis I would say. Gotta try one on to decide for yourself.

Great idea, terrible execution
I was super excited about this jacket. I like the styling and I wanted something warm for winter. Needless to say I was incredibly disappointed. So many things were terrible about this jacket I don't even know where to start. The fit is huge. I have a decent sized frame and I usually fit into a 52, but this thing was massive. It annoys me when they say it's more "American sized" and what they really mean is that it's gigantic. The style also fell completely flat. The collar is buttoned on and it digs into my neck. It also just feels flimsy and cheap. Finally, the lining was scratchy and uncomfortable. For the price tag that this has I expect better. All that being said, the leather felt nice, and it feels durable (minus the collar). It would provide nice protection.

Classic
Bought it a year ago, there was quite a few reviews, not sure what happened to them...
Anyway , the fit and finish is comparable to everything German-made...exquisite...very warm with the thermal liner and I would describe it as a 3 season jacket...not going to be very comfortable in the summer even with the thermal liner removed
The zipper is very heavy duty, the snaps holding the fake fleece collar could be a little more robust, easily unsnapped but not a problem..(would have been nice to have real fleece)
Not a lot of pockets but enough..., clean lines, comfortable fit, CEO rated knox lite armor in shoulders and elbows substantial without being cumbersome, I also use the available Seesoft back protector, again very comfortable , not noticable at all..
The stitching on the collar revealed when the removable fake fleece collar is removed is really nicely done, giving the jacket a whole other look..
After a year I am very happy and satisfied with the jacket, own a few other items from Rev'it, all top shelf , don't think you can go wrong if you are looking for a good looking, classic, and comfortable jacket that doesn't scream "super sport" ...
(Air flow is low because it's supposed to be low...)

Welcome to our detailed breakdown of the new REV'IT! Pilot Leather Jacket available at revzilla.com.

Now, the first thing you're gonna notice is it has got the sheepskin collar. There's also a sheepskin liner, fully removable but phenomenal for cold weather riding. I will call out however, that it is faux sheepskin, and that's the only way they were able to keep this price tag under the $700 mark. If you went legit sheep, you're probably looking north of $1,000 on this jacket. So it carries the style, has the function, but keep that in mind, it's going to be faux sheepskin on the interior and the collar.

What is the real thing? Is the buffalo, and that's going to be 1.1 mil-grade buffalo leather that is waxed and has a beautiful finish to it. To me, that is the standout here on the Pilot. This is the dark brown version. There's also a black version, has that classic military look. Little bit of Top Gun aviator going on here. But if we look at it, when I work through the details, they're really what's gonna set it apart. Has a very unique smell to it, which is that great rich leather smell, and when you touch it, the hand has that definitive waxed feel. So it's going to break in, it feels great to the touch, really an heirloom product here from REV'IT!

Now, you're still getting Knox Flexiform Armor, shoulders as well as elbows and forearm. That's going to be CE rated, and you can upgrade the back protection to a Seesoft type RV. Again, it's a full bore motorcycle coat, and we're looking at a, really, two to three season cold weather approach. So fall, winter, spring, you're going to be good to go. This guy is heavy-duty, and it's not going to breathe in the summer, so I'm just priming you for that right now.

And you could see, it's a box cut with a nice articulation to it. Not going to be overly aggressive. It's also not sloppy, it has a nice tailor to it, but it comes right there in the middle, so that it's going to carry that classic bomber style forward. And I will say this, that in the REV'IT! line, when you talk about these high-end more city inspired leathers, there's also just a few of them, and this is going to be their more classic bomber approach to it.

If we move into some of the details, you're going to see some of things that are harder to pick up here. There'll all gonna be nice big zinc zippers, and again, that has a distinct feel to it. You're also going to see the pulls are done in leather. There're also firing caps. So again, they really went down this rabbit hole on detail and thematic bomber approach to things. See the way the stitching works, it's not Hi-Viz stitching or it's not, Hi-Viz stitching word for you, contrast stitching rather. What you're going to see is a clean stitching that works quite well.

And even when you make your way down the front, see hand warmer pockets that have zipper garages. And down towards the bottom, you do see a snap that covers the exit point for that zipper, and that's going to make sure that this jacket's not going to scuff your tank. If you look at the outside of the sleeve, embossed REV'IT! logo. Classic lines with a nice articulation down the shoulder through the elbow. Notice where that forearm armor goes, it goes all the way down. And if he moves his arm just like that, you do see a gusset, that's going to come in handy depending on what your reach or your draw for your bars is going to be.

So again, your position on the bike is going to give you some flexi...or you're going to get some flexibility from the gusset factor. Now, moving down towards the hip, spring-loaded high quality snaps. We see these flat REV'IT! style buttons or these snaps done within the city collection from REV'IT! and again, this falls within that. If we look at the back here, again remember, no back protector. You can upgrade it to a Seesoft type RV. But again, clean lines, has a great fashion element to it, and you see some of the stitching.

One of the things I want to pick up too, if you come in here really tightly, all the way down along the out-seam, along the elbow, you can see it's starting at the collar, down along this very impact-prone seam area or down from the backside of the shoulder rather, it's triple stitched. So again, where they needed to, they beefed up the stitching from a safety component. And again, it's a short connection zipper here as well, so you have the option to connect it with any REV'IT! pants.

Opening it up you're going to see the quilting factor here. So again, the backside of it is plaque, it has a nice finish to it. On the underside of the collar, which is fully removable, you're going to see that it has the detail stitching. They really did a nice job putting this jacket together in a way that continues that style and finish throughout . Remember, you're investing north of $600, it needs to be the full pull, it needs to be high quality all the way through the details.

You got a Napoleon pocket there. You're going to show your inner lining here. Remember, it's going to be faux sheep. It has that nice hand to it. It's going to have all the insulative properties. It's fully removable. So again, if it starts to get a little warmer, you pull out your liners, pull off your sheepskin collar. You're going to see that this mesh is going to work well if you're just wearing a basic base layer or overtop of a T-shirt.
