Schott 530 Cafe Racer Jacket

The Schott Cafe Racer 530 was designed as the retro version of the popular Schott 141 Jacket. The 530 is a waxy, natural grain cowhide jacket, 26" in length with three front zippered pockets and a cotton plaid lining. Schott designed this jacket to fit tighter than most for that classic bold and streamlined look.

Note: We have found the Schott 530 Cafe Racer Jacket to run small and suggest going up if you are between sizes.

Best Jacket I Own!
I own many riding jackets—from Aether to Dainese to Rev’It.
I bought this jacket to wear as a casual jacket—and maybe for short, in town trips on the bike—to replace my Roland Sands Ronin Black Ops.
There is no comparison between the two. Roland Sands is garbage. Overpriced garbage at that. I got that jacket as a present and gave it to my 17 year old son.
This jacket is QUALITY. It’s not as heavy as I thought it would be, it’s very wearable. The leather is undescribably soft, albeit thick. It feels like thick lamb skin.
Sizing—I got a size medium. I’m 5’8”, 165lbs., 30” waist, 44” chest, 17” neck, 16” biceps. My go-to riding jacket is my Dainese Racing leather jacket in 52 short. That jacket fits very snug with back and chest armor.
I recently had a bespoke suit made and this jacket feels like a tailored suit, the way it hugs my frame—except the sleeves. The sleeves are about 1.5-2” too long as a casual jacket but cut just right for the riding position. With my arms shoulder height, the sleeves stop right at my wrists. With my arms down the sleeves go to the base of my thumbs when zipped. When unzipped, the sleeves fall to my knuckles.
The circumference of the sleeves are perfect for me, snug but not blood-pressure cuff tight like most jackets. My other jackets, I had to stretch out the sleeves by stuffing a football into them for a few weeks. The waist falls just my belt line and the shoulders, waist, and neck are perfect. It’s a bit snug around my chest/traps but that was expected for my build. I can still get a thick hoodie on underneath but it’s a snug fit. Like wetsuit snug. With just a t-shirt it’s comfortably fitted. I debated about going with a size large per the size chart and Schott’s own advice due to my large upper torso but I knew the sleeves would be chimpanzee-long for me. I’m glad I sized down.
It has a nice Napoleon pocket on the inside but it’s on the right side of the jacket. I would have preferred it to be on the left. The pocket itself is huge and the button and leather lining is very nice though. The 3 outside pockets are small and I wouldn’t put anything more than a phone or other small items in them. I wish it came with a forearm pocket like the Ronin. I also wish they put the footballs and eyelets with this jacket as lifting my arms above shoulder height is a bit constricted.
The lining is a plaid cotton which is not insulated. For the price I would’ve liked to have seen a nicer lining, perhaps satin or the bubble stuff Dainese uses. I also wish it had a drop seat. The jacket is cut evenly 360 degrees. It’s not plumber’s crack high, but I would have appreciated 2” or so more coverage in the rear. There isn’t a way to adjust the waist but that’s fine because it’s tapered in almost a “V” shape and looks very flattering. Lastly, I wish Schott would add armor pockets. I don’t mind buying my own armor, just add the pockets?! PLEASE??
The main zipper is beefy! It looks almost overkill but I’m glad they overdid it rather than putting a chinsy one. All zippers open and close smoothly. The sleeve zippers are well placed and the gussets don’t get in the way when zipped.
The gussets behind the arms are wonderful! Without them I wouldn’t be able to comfortably move my arms any higher than my belly button. They also help if you have developed lats.
The leather placket behind the main zipper is substantial and very thick. It also adds shape to the jacket as it is very soft—really, no break-in required.
I took a nap with the jacket on and the wrinkles are already confirming to my body in a very flattering manner. I almost wish this was made with pull-up leather.
Bottom line—this is the nicest jacket in my closet, in terms of stitching and leather quality. The fit is very flattering for those of us who dont have beer guts or have bean pole body types. A short size would’ve been perfect. In my review I put 4 stars for protection because of the lack of armor pockets. Air flow, 1 star because it isn’t ventilated at all but it doesn’t claim to be. I put it runs slightly small because Schott NYC recommended I wear a size large and the medium fits well.
I never want to take this thing off!

Schott 530 vs Scott 141 fit. I wear a 38 inch suit jacket and a medium in Harley jackets . 5'10", 145 lbs. what size should I get?
A C on May 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would go with a small. I'm 5'9'' 165lbs athletic and a small looks good on me. The chest is a little snug but is ok in a riding position
I am only 5’8” 170lb. I am looking at the medium. I am worried the length will be to long for me. I have a 42 chest. What is the length of this jacket?
