Comfortable and Waterproof
Style: Quite like the look of them.
Fit: I picked up the optional suspenders and loved the fit. They were comfortable and sized just right.
Weather Resistant: I commuted to work rain or shine 45 minutes each way. These pants kept me bone dry in some serious downpours.
Minor Gripes: I wish they had a pocket or at least zip access to my pants pocket.

Now to the meat....will they protect you. The answer is not as well as I thought.
Protection: This is always a grey area unless you have actually had an OFF wearing them. I had a spill on the highway wearing thermals, a pair of jeans. and these pants over everything. They quickly wore through on the hip and, though the armor took some of the impact, the mesh pocket holding the armor in place disintegrated and the armor fell out of position and ended up laying out on the highway, ouch!
The seat of the pants had two large holes in them and left me with some nasty road rash on my rear. All of the seams and zippers held up fine, but the material itself did not fare as well.

Great to keep you dry, armor is a joke
Pants look great, are fairly easy to get in and out of, fit easily over a pair of jeans. The knee armor is an absolute joke: tiny patches of plastic floating around in small cloth bags strapped with flimsy velcro leads to the pants.

For me the armor is completely useless since as soon as I get on my motorcycle, the armor moves over to the inside of the knee and then crawls up so it is doing a great job protecting my inner thighs (not sure how useful that would be in a crash...). So as the previous reviewer commented as well: I'll probably be taking the armor out since it is bound to not add any protection anyways.

Still keeping the pants instead of returning them since they will keep me dry and I intend to use them as outer shell when temperatures start to drop: should keep me warm and dry during the daily commute.

Good pants, bad armour protection
First the pros - very durable, well-made and easy to pull on and off over jeans and riding boots. Gives great protection from the wind and rain.

Cons - Klim need to urgently revisit the knee armour design. It floats in a velcro bag with adjusters at the top and bottom of each knee so you can move it up and down. Problem is, other than the velcro adjusters, there's nothing securing the actual armour to the inside of the pant - it just floats around inside. When I put the pants on and ride - the armour quickly finds its way over to the inside of the leg leaving my knee completely uncovered by the knee armour. It's very badly designed and I'm at the point where I'm just going to take the knee armour out because it's no use, which I dont like because if you have a spill your knees are the most likely to get clobbered.

They will keep you dry
Pro's - pants are stylish and fit well. With long-johns and a pair of jeans they shield cold weather well.

The knee pads are a joke. Klim missed this one by miles - they line up to your knees perfectly when standing but sitting with legs slightly opened as you would on a motorcycle, the knee pads line up great with the inside of your knees - totally useless. I'm actually perplexed they didn't see this one through. For a $400 pair of pants there is no excuse for this oversight.

The best gear I have ever owned. (been riding over 50 years)
Drove up to RevZilla showroom in February. Bought KLIM Latitude jacket and KLIM Torrent over pants. Both fit me well and both the jacket and pants are outstanding. Have ridden in 80 plus days and the pants and jacket vent very well. A month ago I was on a trip to Phoenix, AZ. on my Goldwing. I rode thru snow, sleet, freezing rain and the pants and jacket worked super. On my return east I had 2 1/2 days of heavy rain. I was very comfortable and stayed dry. The KLIM Gore-TEX overpants and jacket performed as advertised

Nice Pants. would add a feature ro two
The pants our of good quality with great protection via D30 armour. Fit is right on but the waist is a little low in the front for my comfort. they could have made the side zippers go another 8 inches higher so you could access your street pants pockets and maybe a thigh pocket for the price..Like them though and would buy again...

Best overpants I could find
I looked around and these were the best I could find. My normal pants size is 34 w and 29/30 length, the size 32 overpants were pretty close. The waist fits well but the length is a little long. I've got short legs so most pants fit like this for me. They slip on really easy with pants and boots on. Perfect for my commuting needs. I would love to always have a full leather suit on while on my Ducati but that's just not realistic with the city/canyon/commuting riding I do. The hip armor is great. D30 and is comfortable. Perfect. The knee armor is OK. It's D30 so that's a plus, but it is not always on your knee. When I'm standing it's positioned on my knee, but when I'm on my bike, the armor is either a little above my knee or to the side. There has to be a better way to position the armor around your knee consistently. But it's a good knee armor pad, just hope it's in place during impact. I wish they had an outside pocket. The side zipper let's you get to your pants pocket. I've only ridden them in cool weather 50-60 and they've been great. Kept the warmth in and totally windproof. I'm hoping that they breath well during hot weather, as I live in Los Angeles. I think as long you are moving the side vents pulled down should keep these pants cool during hot weather. These pants look great and the little bit of side reflection is discreet and functional. After reading up on the Cordura fabric, I'm pretty impressed. They should offer some good abrasion resistance. Don't cheap out and cut corners on your gear, buy the best you can. These are so easy to use they will be on for every ride.

Excellent Overpant
This is a great overpant from a solid company.

Materials: Excellent Gore-Tex Pro Shell with high-quality water proof zippers. This is Gore's top-of-the-line material and it looks and feels high quality. These should be fully waterproof. The zippers are water-resistant and all the snaps and closures are high quality and solid. Nice leather panels on the inside of the legs. Plenty of reflective material and the logos are subtle. These will look good with any bike, even Harleys.

Fit: Normal fit. I bought my normal pant size and they had plenty of room even over my cargo pants with stuff in my pockets. Hem length is good and between the 3 cuff opening adjustment positions, they will fit over just about any footwear. Could have just a bit more crotch room. I want the waist to come up just a bit higher, they feel slightly low-rise but no big deal.

Protection: Excellent D30 armor in the knees and hips. Plenty of adjustment in the knee armor. I've had no issues with the fit of the armor or comfort. The knee armor pockets float and it's easy to make small adjustments on the bike. I would have liked to see additional layers of fabric over the high abrasion areas (knees, seat/hips) for the price.

Function: Easy to live with everyday. The top zipper slider on each leg has a nice pull and you can open the side zippers for ventilation which works surprisingly well. Because of the materials, I have no doubt these will be waterproof and reasonably protective at normal highway speeds.

Gripes: The side zippers need to be about 4" longer or "full length" as opposed to "3/4" length. This would make it much easier to put on over larger boots and allow access to street pants pockets since these have no pockets of their own. This would also allow more venting, however these pants are not uncomfortable as-is. Also, I would like to see reinforcement material inside the lower cuff area and maybe additional material on the outside also as this is a high wear area and these are expensive pants.

Overall: A really nice overpant that fits well, and is protective and weather-proof using very high quality materials. They pack down relatively small off the bike and would be ideal for an urban commuter or someone wanting a big upgrade over normal cheap "rain suit pants" or is looking for a no-frills day-in day-out pant. There's room for improvement at this price, but nothing that doesn't make these pants a worthwhile purchase. I'm very pleased with them.

For reference, I'm 6' 1" and 240 lbs "husky" build. I bought the size 40 pants.

Not very durable
I purchased these in March as an over pant for my commute to work as well as mid-level off roading (BDR type stuff). Now, I will say that pant is great for keeping the water out. However, after not even 4 months of riding back and forth to work and a couple of BDRs the pants started leaking below the knees (a lot). I followed the Klim website and sent it to the for review and possible repair or replacement. They stated that the interior was worn below the knee and it would be $300 to replace since this doesn't fall under their warranty. I did call them about it and explained what I was using them for and the boots I wear are Sidi adventure style so not even a hardcore off road type boot. I explained my disappointment and they did step up and repaired them (not like they planned but a sort of cheaper way) for $60.00. I'm not sure how well they will work now but at least they heard me out and made a compromise but I know these will maybe last the rest of the summer. The padding is fine for the dirt roads but hope I never find out how durable they are on a highway. I simply can't recommend these for anything than maybe a commute to work but please keep in mind of the wear that may come from your boots. Its just doesn't seem to make sense. Klim suggested that I purchase a more tougher pant for the off road riding I do but I'm a little skeptical since I feel like it's a "fool me once" type deal. Hopefully, these will help the rest of the year and I'll look at something tougher next year. This is the first Klim pant I've purchased so it's disappointing with how fast the wore on the interior like that.

Comfortable, waterproof, wearable
After going through four other pairs of "waterproof" overpants for my daily commute and longer rides, the Klim Torrent are hopefully the end of the merry go round.

The construction is bombproof; all seams are tight, double stitched and/or welded. When you think "heavy duty Goretex", you are getting the right picture in your head.

The waistband is low enough and pliable enough so as to be comfortable in most any riding position, even if you have a slightly forward centre of gravity (e.g. not quite a beer belly, but...) There is a 3-4" elastic insert in the back of the waistband so it has some give, as well as adjuster tabs to keep things snug.

The pants are light enough that they don't fall down when you are walking around at the gas station, which is a big plus. They definitely do not have any insulation value to them as a result.

Based on the sizing chart, I ordered my normal pant size (38) and the "tall", based on my 34" inseam. When my order arrived, I found that the "tall" 35" inseam was more like a 40" inseam. Seriously. Even with boots on and sitting on the bike, the pants were 2" below the heel of my boot.

I exchanged them for a "regular" inseam and the fit is perfect over jeans. So, unless you have freakishly long legs, you are probably fine with the standard inseam.

Oh, and the knee armour mounting system. As previous reviewers have said, yeah, it is a joke. Seriously, Klim. For $400, I would expect a lot better, but at least it is removable.

I see these pants come with hip and knee armor, but do they provide any level of abrasion protection?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The Gore Pro fabric feels like Cordura bonded to the Gore-Tex membrane so there is abrasion protection. Also these are designed as overpants so it is assumed that you will also be wearing normal street pants underneath as opposed to just a base layer or underwear with regular riding pants.

They are not as abrasion resistant as something like a full riding pant like the Badlands, but they are not designed for that purpose either. They are intended for normal street riding speeds and on/off the bike convenience.
Are they windproof? The most important factor for me with overpants is that they be windproof. For winter riding, if wind goes through the outer layer, it seriously degrades the performance of whatever base and mid layers I'm using.
Will these stop the wind infiltration and allow the layering to work as intended?
gregory b on Jun 28, 2017
I'm looking at a size 36 or 38 pant. My inseam is 29inches. i.e. short!!
Will I be able to adjust placement of the Knee pads so they will give me proper protection at the right spot?
bob z on Apr 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am 5'9 and 185 pounds. My inseam is 29-30 inches and I bought a size 34. They fit like a glove. Sometimes I wear leather chaps underneath and they fit well over them. If I don't have chaps, they fit well too.

If you have a very short inseam, I would go no bigger than the 36 but depending on your waist size, might even go with the 34. My waist size is between 34&36 and they are fine. The waist is adjustable.
Will the pants zip into the Latitude jacket?
A shopper on Mar 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can't answer specifically for the Latitude, but they will not zip together with my Badlands jacket. I bought these for the daily commute as opposed to all-day riding so this isn't too much of an issue for me.

I have them on for 30 min, off for most of the day, and then back on for the 30 min ride home.
Sizing recommendation for 6'1", 170 lbs? For jeans/normal clothes, I usually do a 33 or 34 with a belt.
Ryan C on Mar 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Stick with your regular size. Go with the 34 and they will fit well over your regular street pants. You don't need to order larger.
Will these overpants zip into last years model Klim Badlands Pro jacket? Thank you for your time.

BEST ANSWER: No. I have the Badlands and they will not zip together. The new zipper is for new and updated Klim jackets coming this spring/summer.
