5XL - very roomy
I haven't had a chance to wear these out yet, so I'm not going to comment on durability or airflow. I mostly wanted to write a review for other larger riders out there. It's often difficult to find motorcycle gear that fits. I typically wear 3XL shirts or gym shorts, 50-52" waist. Motorcycle gear I always get at 5XL, some fit, some don't.

Joe Rocket gear (jackets and pants), are very generously cut. 5XL could slide over a pair of pants, comfy enough without pants. Even fits well with the liner. I highly recommend these to larger riders.

Had a 50mph crash in these pants
So I took a spill in these pants at about 50mph and all I ended up with was a small break in my fibula bone. And bad bruise on my left shin. All other parts of my body were protected by these pants and other ride gear I was wearing i.e. jacket gloves etc.
The pants worked great, I was only hurt in areas where the pants had no ce protection. Nice pants, look great too.
To bad the EMT people cut them off me so now I need some new ones...bool.

Good Overpant
6'3" 190lbs
Ordered Size: MD Tall
I wear size 32/36 501 jeans. I did a lot of research to find motorcycle pants that don't become high waters when sitting on a bike and these fit the bill. The Joe Rocket pants work great as over pants for me as they are roomy. They are no-frills, but do exactly what you'd expect at this price point. They do make a bit of a "swoosh" sound when you walk from the material rubbing together.

Great Pants
I really like these pants. I was looking for some pants that didn't make me look like a Power Ranger. These pants are all black, and don't standout when I'm not on my bike.

I don't wear these pants as overpants; I wear them on rides so I wear only padded bicycle shorts under them. There are no ventilation openings so I can see where some people are going to feel they are hot, but it doesn't bother me. I haven't tried the included liners but I think they will make the pants comfortable in cold weather if I wear long ski pants under.

I'm 6' tall with a 33" waist and 34" inseam, about 180 pounds. I bought the Medium/Long size and they fit great. They fit like jeans thru my waist and hips, with the legs just a bit looser than jeans. Walking around in them is no problem.

I haven't had a chance to test their effectiveness in a crash, but they seem very rugged and durable. Honestly, I can't imagine why pants costing 3 times as much would be any better. I'm very happy with them.

Great pants for the money
I bought these as a pair of over pants to wear over my uniform when riding to and from work. I just started riding the bike daily no matter what the weather and needed a pair of pants to protect my uniform from the elements. Here is the bonus they are warm, and keep the wind and rain out. I have been wearing them without the liner in temps a low as 26 degrees and was comfortable. I am not sure how they will fair when the hot temps of summer hit but for now they are great.

The zipper pretty much unzips all the way to the hip which make these pants easy to climb in and out of. I do have a little problem with the zipper catching the rain flaps on the zippers but as long as I am conscious of the issue it is no problem.

Here is the short of it, I love these pants, water proof, wind proof and they fit well. I ordered a size larger than I would normally wear as I am using these as an additional layer and they are great.

great cold weather pants
these pants are great for cold weather. really warm and almost zero airflow. that being said, they are VERY hot in warmer weather. even without the liner. i mean swampy hot, even at high speeds. but on cold mornings they are amazing. the knee pads can be placed in either of two pockets, one about an inch higher than the other which for me being 6'1" they ride just a hair low. the hip armor is great, i dont even notice it while riding. the full legth zippers are great, i take them on and off over my work boots with no issues. all in all a great pair of overpants.

Pretty good pants w/ a few issues
Pros:

Very sturdy material, not flimsy at all. These should hold up well over time.

Knee (adjustable) and hip pads

Adjustable waist straps so you don't have to wear a separate belt

Look good. They're all black so nothing too crazy.

The calf area has adjustabilty so you can tighten them down so they're fit snugly over your boots and don't flap around. And you don't have to adjust them everytime you put the pants on. Once and done, I like that.

In terms of style, comfort and protection, there are no issues at all which I why I rated excellent in those categories.

Cons:

Why don't they make a small short? The medium short fit pretty well in my inseam but was just a little too big up top, so had to return. The small fits better up top but is just a little too long in the inseam. Why don't they make a small short? I'm 5'7, 155 BTW. The fit otherwise is pretty good I'd say, they're a LITTLE bulky, but not TOO much.

The side zippers are a little finnicky. It's very easy to get the rain vinyl piece just behind the zipper caught in the zipper when zipping up. I got it caught once and almost broke the tab trying to get it out.

The openings for the pockets are pretty small. I can barely get my hands in them, it's a pretty tight squeeze. And I don't have the biggest hands in the world. They could have made the openings about an inch bigger.

I wish the side zippers came up just a little higher. I only wear a size 9 boot and even for me it's not the easiest to get these pants on/off w/ my boots on.

Other:

There's no real air flow, but for me that's not why I got these. These will keep me warm in my cold morning commutes. In the summer I'll wear these until the heat is unbearable and then I'll go jeans only until the weather cools down. These are pretty solid pants so they are pretty warm.

I'd probably never use the inner rain liner. Seems the outside would do the job in the rain unless you're riding in a torrential downpour. Plus with the rain liner in the pants get pretty tight.

I'll never use the zipper that's designed to zip to a jacket so it just flaps around when I'm leaned over on my sportbike. Not really an issue on my cruiser. I'm thinking about just cutting it off, we'll see.

Velcro. The sides have velcro all along the zipper. Works great right now, but what happens in a year or two when the velcro wears out? If/when that happens to me, I might end up cutting off the flap that covers the zipper.

Overall, a few gripes but nothing too major I guess. They have a lot of functionality for the price. If they were more expensive I'd probably say keep looking but for the price they're a pretty good deal.

Real happy with these!
As my other pants are multi layer mesh, I needed something completely windproof and solid. These work really well, I'm using them so far without the liners (which are a nice two layers of nylon type, not a single layer). I'm 6'1" with a normal 33" inseam and a 33-34" waist, I got the "Medium-Tall" with a 36" inseam to keep my ankles covered, I'm not wearing them over pants, but over cycling tights. Maybe if I were commuting I'd go for "large-tall" for over pants, but they'd be really big otherwise.
My only issue, and its minor, would be to have larger Velcro contact patches on the cuffs.
RevZilla, when I asked if they could ship them out on the day of order not only responded within an hour, but I had them NEXT DAY with free shipping....outstanding!

Happy
I'm 6'2" 200lbs with a 40" waist at the belly.

I bought the XL and they're a little baggy. Not too hard to get into but you have to be careful not to pinch the liners in the zippers- it's easy to do.

Biggest gripe is the two buttons on the fly always come undone and it's not because of my weight, the just don't snap tight. I'm considering having a tayler replace them.

One more thing, the zipper was installed backwards. Revzilla offered to replace it but it wasn't worth the hassle to me.

I needed a reasonably priced over pant with some protection for an upcoming motorcycle trip to the coast in early November in North Carolina. I hope they meet my expectation of weather protection.

I live in Seattle and I ride throughout the Winter other than during lightning storms or when the temperature drops below 37 and the overpasses can freeze - Seattle is *not* well-equipped for snow and ice. I needed a pair of over-pants that fit me as a very large guy. I work a professional job and I need to wear smart clothes underneath. Based on the reviews, these seemed like good pants that would provide more warmth than my rain gear does.

This was the best price for a simple overpant for fall riding. I liked that it didn't have a thermal lining, as I typically don't need one. These are thick enough by themselves and will stop the wind which is all I need to take me out of riding season.

Needed cold weather and wind protection, plus wanted the added safety benefit these over pants provide. I've been wearing them regularly for several months and they worked as advertised at a price that was very reasonable. They are high quality, sturdy pants that fit nicely over either work or weekend pants. The two front pockets are perfect for your cell phone or wallet. I haven't worn them in the rain but the liner is also well constructed and I'm sure would work well.

Can anyone comment on how warm these are, and are these designed to go over clothing? need to know so i know what size to order
Nathan S on Oct 22, 2013
BEST ANSWER: WEATHER
I have been wearing these since last year. There is a zip out poly liner that I leave out for the summer. Winter time I put it back in so I can travel in the rain.
WIND
These pants are great for wind-block and I traveled all winter last year in them, rocking sweats or jeans underneath.

SIZE
Im a big dude, so wear a 5X . My pants waist size is 50. And, I still have room for my jeans no problem the the pants slide well on them. The thing for size is that, with a big waist, they seem to think I should have a 36" inseam. So, I got them hemmed up from a friend and trimmed the zippers. But, thats because I've got stubs for legs.

TEMP
I have not been cold in this pants yet, even on 500 mile days. With the liner in and a base layer, I get no wind through the material or water. They are thick and provide good protection. In the summer, I remove the liner and just wear a base layer (under armour stretchies / thermals) against the internal mesh liner. Works for me. I will continue to wear these all winter in my case.
How is the knee protection?
Jacob K on Jun 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: PRetty decent i had a 30 mph get off and my knees were fine.
Are the pants still waterproof even without the zip in liner?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am going to say no... For a light drizzle its ok but downpours the liner is the way to go.....
I am looking for a pair of pants that I can wear by themselves, without putting them over jeans. It looks like these are overpants though.

Is anyone wearing these as a regular pant?
A shopper on Apr 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I always wore these alone or over long johns. it's a tough cordura fabric. you could fit jeans underneath but there's no reason to. if you're looking to wear these to the office, they're a little too serious for that, but otherwise they look pretty normal for working and walking around. overall highly recommend them.
I am tall (6'7") with an inseam of 36" in jeans. If the tall XL goes to 36" inseam, do you think this will adequately fit in a riding position for a commuter?
A C on Mar 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm 6'4" and bought the XL-Tall. They fit very well around the waist and even work as over pants if I leave the liner out. They are a comfortable length when standing but ride a little high around the ankles when on the bike. I wear 8" boots so I am not showing any ankle but I do wish they were a little longer.
Hello, I'm a commuter and I'm looking for a pair of pants that I can use on daily basis, I'm 5'9" and 165 lbs. Should I buy Medium Short or Medium Regular? Are these a good pair of pants for a commuter?
Kikeggiron on Sep 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hello Enrique
My name is Tim, I would say med reg because when sitting all pants are going to ride up your leg a bit and depending on what color socks you have on it looks a bit non-color coordinated if you worry about these sort of things. But they are great pants and fit well over your own pants or as your primary if you want , it also has a liner that can be removed. this is a must for protection with knee and hip armor. I like them a lot.
Are the pants still waterproof even without the zip in waterproof liner?
A C on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: to break the tie, these are not waterproof without the liner, and end up soaked through quickly. Even with the zip in liner, these are still just water resistant, not waterproof. I'm currently trying to find a new option, as these just don't hold up to Seattle winter/spring rains.
Does the inner liner have leg zips too? Ones that go high up, say past the knees?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the liner zips up about as high as the overpants. Works very well, and is quite warm.
