Uncomfortable in every way, except for airflow.
The one thing they did right was to design the airflow/stretch area to intake air directly to the upper inseam area.
These make a great pair of extremely sturdy casual/work type jeans, yet are uncomfortably rigid.
Once on any bike - no matter how upright - the leg opening flaps around in the wind and the whole leg rides up.
Having missed the previous warnings in the reviews, I was completely surprised on the first ride to note that almost immediately the armor was nowhere near my knee.

When standing, everything feels fine. Ride for an hour or two and you will have serious pinching/chaffing in the leg crease behind the knee.
I'll be much more cautious about fitting pants before riding on them, so that I can return them if they are as poor design as these.
A shame, as the materials and overall fit are pretty nice.

Will attempt to modify the leg opening to make it tighter, yet the armor might have to be strapped to the knee separately.

sizing runs small
Just got these today, had to return them because they were way small, I'm not skinny so some of that is my fault but I'm wondering if I should reorder them two sizes up or just one. I barely got them buttoned using my jeans size.

Besides that, they looked well made, well constructed and durable.

I hope to reorder these soon to give a more complete review.

These pants are amazing!
The Royal Drive pants are THE best bang for your buck! The D30 armor makes you feel very protected, and the fact that they're removable makes it even better because then you have a sweet pair of pants to wear through out the day or into the store. I just wish they had a reflective strip or something similar.

Great protection at fair price
The run a bit small, I wear a size 32 waste in Levis and needed a 34 in the Royal Drives. They fit and wear like jeans but are not a forgiving as regular cotton as they a waxed for protection.

One detail I noticed is that Icon claims the knee armor can sit in three different positions in its pocket yet I am not seeing this feature in the two pair I've dealt with, does not compromise protection though.

Great concept, poor execution.
I bought these pants at the end of May 2015 and have put 5,500 miles on wearing them until now, mid-October 2015.

Pros:
- The wax-coated denim is pretty good at blocking wind and light rain.
-The CE knee pads are sturdy.

Cons:
- I've sewn both back pockets back on twice, the material tears easily at the seams.
- The material is very stiff and will hold it's shape. If you've been riding, it bunches up behind the knee and you have to pull the pant legs down.
- Like others have said, the legs will work their way up while you ride. The armor sits on top of your knee and you'll be showing everyone the lower half of your calf.

I spent $100 on these pants and wouldn't purchase them again. The only saving grace is they have a modern cut and are fairly stylish, however the stiffness makes it hard to wear them casually.

GREAT IDEA, BAD FITMENT
I wanted a pair of jeans to ride in with minor protection. I didn't want a full blown tactical pair of pants so after watching the review, I pulled the trigger on these pants. I'll start off by saying the quality and features are amazing. I love the little Icon styling touches they do with every product, and love the overall feel of the pants. The stretch panels are a great feature, along with the deep pockets and I love the black color of these jeans.

HOWEVER, fitment is off. I wear different brands of jeans in the following sizes: BKE (32R), Express (31W/32L), and recently started wearing Levi's 511 (32W/34L - wear boots for work and wanted extra length - love these jeans!).

I was told that these would fit like a pair of Levi's in the waist, which they do. I ordered a 32 and they fit a tad snug, but not uncomfortable at all. They say in the reviews that they have extra length for when you're on the bike, I find this to be as false as the sky is green. I rode in Alpinestars Articolo 80 Sportivo boots. They are a mid height boot going just above the ankle. I have a 2009 Buell XB12Scg, not a super aggressive riding position, and these pants are ABOVE my boot. I am really disappointed in these pants because of this. Legs flapping around and air coming up my legs.

However, me being me, I tried them on with my boots and they fit good when off the bike, so I figured they'd be fine on the bike. After one ride with them on, I regret my purchase. I would not recommend these pants, or if you do, be a little more patient than I and get on your bike with the pants (with the tags being attached), and make your decision. I am just not the patient type.

I spend a lot of money with Revzilla, and they'll continue to get my business. I'm not upset with them at all for this, just with the pants were as true as the review.

DO NOT BUY!
Bought these pants after having excellent experiences with other ICON gear (Basehawk jacket and Variant helmet). Put the pants on immediately after they arrived. Boy was i disappointed. First of all, the fit is atrocious. I'm 6'4 220 and purchased the pants in a 36. They don't even come close to fitting in either the waist or pant length. I wear a 34 jean and these BARELY fit. The length was also a huge issue. They didn't even come to my ankles. Normally motorcycle pants should run long but these are like capris. To top it all off, the button ripped out of the pants when I went to take them off. These pants aren't worth $5, let alone $100. I really like the ICON brand but these pants were beyond a huge disappointment.

Nice for the price
Firstly these are pretty stiff. However, they do get softer as you wear them. The removable knee pads are quite nice. Great for warm weather and just cruising around. Wouldn't be the best bet for hardcore riding as far as protection goes. They look great and I can use them off the bike and at work without looking like I just came from the track. Definitely recommend these for short rides and being casual when you get to the destination.

True to the Revzilla recommendation, these pants sizing is about two sizes lower, so, I got two sizes bigger that what I wear, and they fit great! Protection for price, awesome. I like how you don't feel the pads, and how the pants stretch where you need them to.

If I had to complain about something, just wish they came in a different color or two. I would want a lighter color (like khaki) in the sun, as opposed to the black I purchased. But all and all, GREAT PRODUCT!

THANKS AGAIN TO REVZILLA WITH THEIR "IN DEPTH GUIDES", I recommend them to all my buddies who really want the best and easiest online shopping experience.

I was wondering what size I should get because I have big hip bones that stick out. My wait is 32" but my hips are 37". Should I go up a size?
A shopper on Sep 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you wear your pants up on your hips, I would get a 34, if your wear them on your hips, I would recommend the 38. There is an elasticated panel in the crotch that should accommodate you if you wear pants on the waist, but there is not a lot of give in the top of the pants. Honestly I would recommend wearing these pants on your hips, because the knee armor is not adjustable. They cover my knees perfectly with hip wear. They would feel funny on my waist.
Can these pants be washed?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Cold water. I air dried mine.
I have a size 30 waist, but very big legs. What's size would you guys recommend?
Joseph D on Sep 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Go a size up. I have relatively big legs and went with a 30, ended up ripping the pants in my groin area when I squatted a couple weeks after buying it.
Are these baggy or a straight cut? Would they be acceptable for casual office wear?
Tim M on May 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The fit is good, if you follow the sizing guide video as I did. You'll have a very comfy, snug fit pants that isn't too tight. It's stretchy panels come in clutch, and I love these pants. The knee inserts are easily removable and reinstalled, for an even comfier wear.

Overall I'd say yes, but depends on how casual your office allows, Id think they're good to go
How wide is the leg opening?
William B on Nov 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The leg openings are big enough to wear sport boots inside the pants with no problem.
