could be better
Okay just picked mine up, first of all it's possibly quieter than my shuberth C3 pro (I wear earplugs in all my helmets as I already have tinnitus and don't want it getting any worse , fit and finish is very very good, I have an intermediate oval head and this fits really well, The dropdown visor is optically in another league to the shuberth , it's like a really good pair of ray bans vs $5 dollar sunglasses, looking through the drop down visor and Main visor with pinlock there is no distortion and I forget I'm looking through anything, It's that good. Venting this is the first helmet I have owned where I can tell if the venting is open or closed, top vent pushes loads of cool air on my head when it's open and instantly stops when it's shut. seriously I always though vents were a bit of a gimmick (until now).
Visor seals like an airlock in a submarine, very good mechanism and super tight seal no whistles.
Style , well I like it, it doesn't really match my old Guzzi's but I don't care about period correct everything to match the bike. I appreciate well made gear and wanted a safe quiet helmet with great optics and the splash of yellow at the back doesn't hurt as far as being that bit more visible ( I have the octar model) I was on my Gilera 500 whilst wearing this and vison in full tuck and cranked over is good, it's a sporting / tour ready helmet that I suspect will do well on more upright bikes too but should be totally fine for track days as it's the same tech as the RPHA 11. Ok these were just initial impressions after 100k and nothing over 150kph. Oh and this is the first helmet that I can wear with glasses as there is a slight channel for the arms to slide in easily. Price well I paid more than you will from Revzilla as I am down under and it was available here before it's out in the States , but thought I would add my review here as Revzilla is great.

best thing since sliced bread... maybe not
To start, this review is 100% first impressions. It's unfortunately too cold this week to test this helmet out thoroughly for air flow and features...

Coming from the Shoei rf1100, and the rf1200, the HJC 70ST feels cheaper and less refined. Given the starting price is over $100 difference, and the HJC includes a drop down sun visor, I recognize they are in fairly different places in the helmet market. Over all, I do have some complaints.

I found most things about the helmet to be fairly good. The weight was better than most competitors (even outside this price point), the helmet comes with a pinlock (though not as nice as some of the higher up brands), and even standing still you can tell the helmet vents better than most. For the price all great things.

The interior liner is where I started to feel a little ripped off. I wanted to install my old Sena 10c so I started to pull the helmet apart. The liner actually feels cheaper than most of my previous helmets, and there are multiple areas that look like the engineer simply said "guess this will do". Not to mention the chin strap wants to ride back into my throat and it sits on top of some rather poorly designed cheek pads. It isn't the worst liner I have ever seen, but it certainly is not the best.

The chin vent is a neat idea, but I find it rather questionable to put the switch inside. Fortunately the switch is rather out of the way and did not interfere with my com system, or effect the general comfort of the helmet. Generally speaking, the vents are all well laid out and can easily be used with gloves (though I do kind of feel like Im going to rip the top vent off like the Hulk). Compared to my Shoei rf1200, this helmet has noticeably better venting even without wind to test it out. And lets be honest, sitting in traffic with a helmet that doesn't breath (especially in the south) will leave anyone questioning if they really even need a helmet.

Sun visor seems to work well, though it does leave somethings to be desired. I would like slightly more lens. With the visor fully down, and on top of that, a darker lens. Cable controls are nice, and feel smooth, though often terribly located for a Sena.

Lastly, com systems will present some fun challenges. On removing my cheek pads, the sticker that holds the sun visor cable in place detached and pulled out with the pad. Not a problem, but still frustrating. The Sena clamp mount simply was not an option this time around, so a sticky mount worked well. The Sena was installed slightly higher than normal to insure easy sun visor use. Like most newer helmets, the liners have been mortised (for lack of a better word) for speakers. Fingers crossed one day they give us a place to run all the wires!

Over all, I think its easy to over expect. This is a good helmet (to my knowledge, since I haven't crashed in it yet). keeping in mind these are only first impressions, I think the helmet will likely prove to be a very worth while helmet for the money. I would not buy this helmet for over $450, but for $360, I think it was money well spent.

Great Job HJC
wI'll make this short and sweet, I have a little over 300 miles on helmet at present and I believe it's starting to break in a little bit. My head measures 23 3/4 inches so I purchased the XL same as my old HJC CS R1. It fits well, all be it the cheak pads are some what snugger than I carer for, no 2X in stock at the moment.
To repeat a reviewers comment that probably sealed the deal for me, quote " it seals like a submarine hach". The shield and pin lock are awesome, it didn't fog as I rode last week and it as 45 deg and 97% humidity no cold air leaking in, I am a happy camper.
Venting is also good comparatively speaking, I usually wear a half helmet in the summer here in Texas.
I almost forgot to mention the internal visor, it's ok just a little on the light side maybe legal restraints, that or they want to sell folks darker visors, thats ok the shield and pin lock in the box is around a $90 investment if purchased seperately.

Great balance of price/features/style
TL:DR - I am very satisfied and would buy it again.

I was primarily cross-shopping this with the Shoei GT-Air as I wanted a well-ventilated full-face with a sun-visor. In my opinion, the RPHA 70 was better looking, and felt more comfortable on my head. I also prefer the center-lock visor. Other than that, the two helmets seemed very comparable despite their large price difference. I fortunately can't speak to protection yet (they bear the same ratings) or durability.

The good:
- The RPHA 70 is sexy in person if you like the aggressive look.. I got the semi-matte silver and it's gorgeous in person.
- It's quite light, comfortable, and acceptably loud (read: not particularly quiet, but not notable at around-town speeds) - I haven't passed 120kph yet
- The visor action is solid, sturdy, and seals very well. The latch is intuitive and easy. Removing/replacing is also impressively easy
- Venting seems effective (if not game changing)
- Sun visor is clear, easy and smooth to actuate, and appropriately tinted
- Chin strap feels high quality
- Reflective part of neck-roll is effective and a thoughtful addition
- Emergency cheek-pad removal works pretty easily
- Anti-fog visor insert included, easy to install, and seems to work (haven't ridden during any cold/humid nights yet though)
- I've actually gotten compliments on the looks which surprised me

Some minor complaints:
- The actual lock mechanism on the visor latch seems a bit flimsy. The latch is very sturdy and I never actually use the lock so i wouldn't have noticed except for trying it out during unboxing.
- The sun visor control could use a stronger 'click' in its up position. Mine has never fallen down, but I've accidentally lowered it a bit while just handling the helmet. The control may also interfere with side-mounted bluetooth positioning. Otherwise it's great, very smooth and intuitively located
- The sun visor doesn't cover *quite* enough view at the bottom. I expected this and it doesn't bother me, but very particular people should try it out in person if this is a deal breaker.
- All the vents are active, but I always leave them open. They feel sturdy but a touch over-engineered, I would be fine with just open vents (many would disagree with me I'm sure)
- The included chin curtain seems to help some with noise, but isn't that big. It seems like a bit of an afterthought, but I leave it in. (There's also a very small one besides the removable one mounted at shipping).

Best Helmet I Have Owned
I purchased this helmet a couple of weeks ago and have put about 250 miles on it. First thing I noticed is how light it is (no sore neck/shoulders) and how well it vents. I am coming from a cheap modular helmet, so this one is leaps and bounds over my old one. It is much quieter. I can hear/understand my music/phone calls via my SENA SMH10 without having to crank it to max volume. The shield seals very well, which definitely cuts down on noise. Shield detents are solid and shield removal is so easy a caveman could do it. Fit is true to size and very comfortable with no noticeable hot spots or pinch points.

I don't care much for the position of the internal sun visor slider. While it is silky smooth in operation, the location kind of gets in the way for Bluetooth mounts and is a little wonky to operate with a glove. Seems like HJC went for look over functionality with this one.

One other gripe is the cheek pads. While they are removable for cleaning, they are a pain in the neck to re-install. I had trouble getting the snaps to snap back in. It took way more effort that I think it should have (maybe its just me), especially if you clean your padding a lot.

Overall a great helmet for the money, lots of features at a lower price point than similar helmets. Very pleased with my purchase.

HJC RPHA 70 ST HELMENT
My head measurement is at the top of the large size per your chart . I ordered a large , it was very tight to get on and the fit was very snug. After the first ride the fit began to break in making the fit perfect. It remains uncomfortable to put on and remove , even when pulling the straps to the side.
I like the tinted drop shield and the vents flow a lot of air.
I would recommend this helmet for any kind of riding.

Very Happy
Got it delivered to my place of business. Couple of bikers in the office. They were impressed with the look. (Matte Platinum) Wore it today in 50 degrees and did roughy 150 miles (around town and highway up to 100 MPH) First off there's nothing like a brand new helmet. Nice and snug, clean, crystal clear visor...
I liked it right away. It feels light on the head. (replaced CL-17)
The chin strap seems close to the throat and the little snap to hold the excess took five minutes to find and snap. I didn't install the antifog shield and did the usual crack at stops and closed at speed. No fogging issues. The sun visor is worth the price of admission. I wear prescription glasses and used to use clip on shades. Sucked. For me, it has perfect tint. There was bright sun today and I forgot the sun visor was down. The helmet feels great at speed. I could hear the wind because I was riding fast through air. Revzilla matched a lower price I found and delivery was typically fast. Highly recommended.

Almost a Shoei
This helmet, in my opinion, is just as good as a Shoei in terms of fit and finish and features. I took a chance on it and I am really surprised at how nice it is. Lots of bang for the buck.

I had a minor crack on the face shield where the locking mechanism is and Revzilla sent me a new one no questions asked.

It doesn't fog and vents well. Drop down visor is the right tint (pretty dark) and it's quiet.

I used to think that people talking about quiet helmets were insinuating that a quiet helmet was like putting fingers in your ears. No helmet is 100 percent quiet regardless of how much you pay. That's a fact. I would rank this helmet right up there with my Shoei Neotec on that front.

Slight fogging Problem on Internal Sun Visor
I wanted to give this helmet a 5 star rating but it's not perfect. I got the Matte Titanium with the Silver Mirror Face Shield, which totally matches my Matte Grey Sportster. Love my helmet!

I will start with the positive. Airflow is amazing, mainly because of the top vent. Not really sure if the top corner vents or rear exhaust really do anything but that top vent scoops a lot of air and cools my scalp. I \have been shopping a helmet that has good ventilation for the summer, this helmet pretty much does it without costing over $600. The Internal Sun Visor is a plus but it has it's problems which I will explain next.

OK, the negative. It doesn't get cold here in LA and humidity is pretty much non-existent. Rode this helmet the day after heavy raining. The Skipfog (which is included) does its job on my Face Shield but I noticed it was blurry when I brought down my Sun Visor. So I just didn't use my Sun Visor and my Silver Mirror Face Shield was good enough to block the sun. When I finally got home, I took off my helmet and notice that my Sun Visor was fogged up. Second, the sun visor doesn't go all the way down, not a huge problem but really noticeable if you are upright. Third, more of personal issue, I have big ears and I notice the tip of my ears binding a little. Kind of annoying but I got used to it.

Great Helmet with great ventilation. The foggy Sun Visor is not going to be a problem for me because I live in a warm and dry climate here in Los Angeles but I can see it being a problem in humid and/or colder climates when the sun is out. For me, this Helmet does everything I wanted.

How dark is the sun shield in this helmet?

As A woman I wear a size small. Does this helmet come in different shell sizes? There is a big difference in a small head vs an XML head. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: I am surprised no one at RevZilla could answer this question. All I an see is what is one the website as far as sizes go. I am not a Rep. for HJC. My suggestion would be to go to a retail outlet that has this helmet and try on a couple sizes. then go on line and find the best price, which for me was RevZilla at the time.
Shark Spartan vs rpha 70, which 1 is quieter?
