I Don't Always Wear Pants, But When I Do - They're Dainese Horizon Pants
I bought these pants for all-day outings, and have not been disappointed. Further, I bought a couple of sizes larger than I need for the express purpose of wearing them as over pants. The leather seat, and leather-covered knees, helps establish and maintain a comfortable riding position. The style is sleek, matching well with the Dainese Lagua jacket. The pants zip directly to the jacket, making for a comfortable ride. Some have expressed concern about the main fastener being a button instead of a snap, but I find the button works quite well. The vents just above the knee offer adequate airflow, and are easy to open and close. The knee armor covers the knee and continues down the shin, offering thorough protection. So far, these pants have been worth every penny.

Great Sport Touring Pants!
High Points: If you haven't already, watch the video. The fitment chart is super accurate, I wear a size 31 jean (when I can find them) and euro fit 48 is like a personally tailored pair of pants.

The length is something that requires a proper boot- I wear Sidi Canyon boots, and the shin protection on these pants starts exactly where the Canyon shin protection ends, they're a perfect combo. If you don't have mid-shin boots, you'll feel like you're wearing highwaters.

The first time I rode in these (coming from riding in denim) I was astonished at how protected my knees felt. The combination of leather and padding completely stops any wind chill and buffeting on an unfaired UJM. That said, the tops of the thighs breath well, and the crotch breaths better than any pair of jeans.

When standing, the knee pads appear to point slightly inward, but these pants are made for riding, not walking (they're perfectly comfortable for both.)

Low points:
There is no actual hip padding, but the leather is reasonably thick. The pockets are shallow and the pants are tight enough that a you'll feel your phone, knife, and pen when leaning into corners. The entry zippers for on the backs of the legs do feel a little delicate. There is no provision for hanging keys anywhere on the pants, so make sure your jacket has pockets.

Overall, they're the best combination of materials, fitment, and usability available anywhere and I highly recommend them.

Quick Comments
Got this as a gift for my birthday a couple of days ago, and there are two areas for concern. One, the pants seem a bit short. I got a size 50 after taking measurements. The waist fits about how I would expect, if a bit on the snug side. I'm only 5'8" but in riding position, with my knees lined up in the pads, the cuff of the pant comes right to the top of my SIDI apex boots. In the summer I could see getting a tiny strip of sunburn in the gap. As it stands, the rim of the boot tends to grind the zippers against my calf. I'd send them back and get one size larger, but I didn't discover this issue until I took them out for a ride, so no returns for me.

The second issue is a problem I've seen on other Dainese gear: the zippers suck. Really easy to get them out of alignment, and they bind with little effort (particularly the zipper used to join the pants to my jacket).

Don't let this sour your opinion of these pants, just maybe think about double checking the length on the sizing table because if you order just by waist size you might end up with a too-short pant. These issues aside, I quite like these pants!

Good pants, very bad connection point for jackets.
I am 5 foot 10, 175 lbs, muscular frame, 33 inch waist, 42 inch chest, 32 inch inseam and I fit a 54. I tried on 52 but there wasn't much room to operate. One gripe is the connection zipper. I have the Laguna Seca D-Dry, and standing with both the jacket and pants on, you cannot connect them together, as the material the jacket zipper is attached to is too short. You zipper them them together off, put the pants on, then the jacket. But then, you cannot sit on your bike because the connection between the jacket and pants is so tight, it tugs the jacket and pants into an uncomfortable position. Why can't they make these connection points adjustable? One size does not fit all, so make it adjustable, otherwise your paying to be uncomfortable, which at Dianese prices makes no sense. Also the vent retainers on the leg are a metal stud, that can and will scratch your bike, this metal stud is in a bad position, and not sure why they placed it here. If they tested these pants properly before going to market, why would they place those studs in a position to scratch your tank? Bad design, and I would expect better from this company. I can't recommend these pants to all, but for a select few small and skinny guys, they might be great. Protection is good with leather impact zones, and the accordion stretch on the knee is good.

Great fit, style and function
I bought the Horizon pants for summer riding and commuting, and they have been nice and cool in the 80's and 90's. The leather seat/hamstring panel is nice and soft and keeps me planted on the saddle. The textile front panels and mesh air vents above the knees provide plenty of air flow.

I'm 5'8" with a 34" waist (size 32 jeans) and a 29" inseam with an athletic build. I ordered the size 50, and they fit me almost perfectly. Having short legs, I have to tug the knee armor up just a little bit, but the accordion-like fabric just above the leather knee/shin panels keeps it from looking bunched up.

My only small complaint about fit is that the zippers pulls at the bottom of the leg opening can be uncomfortable if they are not positioned correctly when tucked into my boots. I find that positioning them to the outside rear-quarter of my leg rather than straight down the middle makes quite a difference - to the point that I no longer feel the zipper pulls.

As far as style is concerned, I think it's a great-looking pant. The Euro-cut is nice and trim without being tight. It's like a comfortable second skin, and there is no flapping when riding at highway speeds.

I also appreciate the subtle branding - it's there but it doesn't scream out at you. The Dainese stitching on the sides of the thigh is done in black thread, as are logos that are tastefully placed on top of the knee protectors.

The Horizon pants look and feel great, and with the 360° zipper it mates perfectly with my Dainese Razon perforated lather jacket. The combo makes for a nice, cool, comfortable summer riding kit.

Overall I am please with the materials and safety features of the pant.
I would have chosen size 50 in accordance with the size chart but was concerned that the European fit might be an issue, so I opted up a size to the 52. I'm 509, 170 thin hips and thighs wearing a 32/32 jeans. The length of the Horizon pants was perfect. the 52 is snug but comfortable. I probably could have gone to a size 54 and been perfectly happy. The only complaint I have is the height of the waist. These are a low-ride pant and feel like hip hugger pants of the 1960's. But, still acceptable. I haven't had an opportunity to ride in them yet, winter here.

Low rise style
I so wanted these to work but the waist is very low rise. As soon as I sat down on the bike, the back of the pant went below my waste line and caused a large air gap, no way you could use these unless you attached the jacket.
Poor design unfortunately.
Other than this they fit great and seemed good quality.
I am a 30/31" waste in jeans etc but waist per guidelines is a 34 so the 50 fit perfectly

Looks great, but I'd like a little more detail on the protective aspects of the pants. What and where are the pads exactly? Safe enough for highway riding on their own, or would it be recommended to get something else in addition? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Do watch the video on revzzilla for a review , the protection is adequate on knee and shin area ,, the hip had leather ,, it would be very close to track level protection
How cool would these pants be for summer riding. I'm talking about hot summers, in the Arizona desert? 90-105 I typically ride with mesh pants but was looking for something a little more protective.
A shopper on Mar 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I ended up returning my Horizon pants, and purchased a pair of Klim Adventure pants (the vented ones). I live in AZ and wanted them for those hot days, and the Horizon pants seemed like they might be too warm with not enough ventilation,
I know these pants do not come with hip protection. Do they at least have pockets to put them in later/upgrade?
A shopper on Sep 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No they dont have hip ppckets , but the leather offers enough slode protection ,, its definitley betterl then kevlar jeans ,, the leather is pretty tough
I am 6' 175, and had to go to the long in the Alien pant because they are all leather. The longs fit perfect. I need just a little extra length in the thigh area. Wear boots so the calf length is not really an issue. Do the Horizons offer enough give with the fabric and the stretch panels such that they might fit me?
A shopper on Jan 8, 2015
Are they compatible with Dainese "In" boots? I see calf expansion zippers on these pants. Even if there isn't a corresponding velcro patch to hook up to my Torque In boots, does anyone know if I can at least fit my boots inside the pants?
Jin P on Jun 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: HI, so the pants themselves are a tighter fit. I went one size larger to wear them as overpants and I still have to tuck them into my boots. I wear smx-5's if that helps. The normal clearance is small on the legs and the calf zippers give maybe an extra inch or two so unless your boots are really small you'll have to tuck the pants in.
I know these pants dont come with hip protection. But do they have a pocket to add them in/upgrade later?
A shopper on Sep 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I actually returned these pants (they are very well made, but they were a bit too tight-fitting for me, and a bit low-waisted also).
i don't recall if the pants had pockets for hip pads/armor, but I wear Fox armored shorts (with chamois) under my pants, so I didn't necessarily need armor in the pants themselves).
The boots on the video look amazing. May anyone give me the exact model?
