First things first, I am 6'3" and 230 pounds. I have a 46 inch chest and wear a 34 in jeans. I wear a 16 neck and 36 sleeve in a dress shirt. If we are going by Alphabet sizes, my chest is a large, while my waist is a medium.

According to the size chart, I should buy a 58 in this jacket. I gambled a little bit and bought a 56. It does fit very snug, and I can only fit 1 layer comfortably. So far, I have worn dress shirts, t - shirts, and polos with this jacket, and they all fit fine, but a sweater would be too much. It is a summer jacket, so this is not an issue with me. I have had it a month, and have put a few hundred miles on it. It has loosened up just a hair, and I do feel like it will loosen up a little more before it is all said and done. If I was buying the non perforated version, I would probably go up to the 58 for the sake of layering.

When I first wore the jacket, I was a little disappointed in the air flow as compared to my mesh jacket. As the jacket has worn in, the air flow has improved, and adjusting your posture does make a big difference on the air flow. I also took my tall windshield off, so that I can get more direct air flow.

My only complaint about this jacket is the sleeve openings. They are massive, and the zippers do not do much to tighten them down. There is a button snap to help with volume, but there is only 1, and it makes a huge leap, and thus makes the sleeve opening too small.

At the end of the day, I bought this for the protection. A friend wreck while wear a very solid mesh jacket, and the pavement ate right through it. It protected him just fine, but the jacket was done. I have had similar wrecks while wearing leather, and all you get is a few scuff marks. I bought this for the protection, european fit, and amazing styling, so if I sweat a little so be it.

All in all, this is an amazingly good looking and fitting jacket. Yes, it would be nice if it had a snap back collar, but I would buy it again in a heart beat. Honestly, I am just trying to see how much it loosens up, so I can see if I really need to buy the 58 for the non perf version this fall.

Awesome protection
I was hoping I would never have to write this kind of review but I have felt compelled too. About 2 weeks ago I got into my first accident, I was riding to work in the morning when a driver changed lanes right in front of me. I could not stop in time and went down on my bike going 55-60mph. I escaped with only a slight fractured rib and bruises. First and foremost this jacket saved my whole upper left side torso. If it wasnt for the quality leather and shoulder, elbow/forewarm pretecor, I would be way worse than I am today. I am extremely pleased with how this jacket protected me in the crash. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone.

Prelimary review...careful on fit
As others have commented, the look and feel of the jacket is amazing, and I'm sure to get many years of enjoyment wearing it. The shoulder and arm protection seems really solid as well. I have not taken it for a ride so I can't comment on air flow.

I mainly write to state, based on my experiences, the video could be off when it comes to sizing. I'm about 6' and 180 lbs, about a 41 inch chest. So I'm roughly the same size as Hi Viz Bry or maybe a little smaller. In the video, they say his true size would be a 52, but they have him wearing a 50 because he can go down that far if he wants a tighter fit. I don't think that's accurate. I got a 52 thinking it was safe, but when I tried it on with the back protector in, it was WAY too tight in the chest. There's no way I could wear anything under other than a thin t-shirt. Yes I know leather molds and stretches, but still. So I ordered the 54, and it fits much better and is really not much longer in the arm length. I sat on my bike with it, the length was fine and the armor was in the right place. Plus, I had much more room across my chest.

Point being I think this fits small. Take whatever your true size would be and go up a size. My two cents.

The perfect jacket for tall thin dudes
6'2.5" 175 lbs thin and lanky size 52 fits me like a glove. The arm length in this jacket is a little longer than most, allowing us tall thin guys to select the proper chest size and still have enough length. The jacket comes down to the middle of my belt. I have tried on many jackets and none have fit me as well as this one. The quality is what you expect in a $500 Alpinestars jacket. The leather is beautiful and looks like it will last a lifetime.

Classic Cool Guy
The jacket looks, smells, and feels great. Four stars because it is not a removable liner. Hottest temp so far is 83 F and the jacket was very comfortable. I go through hell finding a jacket that fits with my slinky body shape. I'm 5'11 and 140lbs with long arms. The 48 gives me that tailored look. The sleeves cover my wrists perfectly and the chest fits nicely. The coat goes just past my belt and the leather is top notch. The armor is very unnoticeable. Usually the arm length does not cover me well for coats that fit in the chest but this one is spot on. The armor is a little rigid but not uncomfortable. But that is also me coming from some very flexible knox armor, which I love. The jacket is simple and sleek. It's a Porsche and like Ferris Bueller said,"If it's within your means, I highly recommend it."

looking forward to breaking it in
I'm 6' 210 lbs. a size 54 was noticeably too small..returned for a 56, and the fit is close to perfect. the only thing I do not like is , the jacket does not have a snap back collar..for a warm weather jacket, this should be a must. so ill take it to a tailor and see what they can do. otherwise its an awesome jacket. great included protection, nice dark brown color, that will only get nicer with time. soft leather, and comfortable fit. only rode in it once, but I could notice a difference in airflow from a non perforated leather jacket..this should be a great jacket for years to come.

Great Jacket
Looks nice, leather is fantastic and soft but thick. I'm 5'9" and about 195# or so and fairly muscular. I got the 52 and it was SNUG. It's been loosening up though and I think it's pretty good now. I didn't want to go a size up because the arms would have been too long I think.

Looks and feels great!
I am 5'-8" 165lbs. I bought the 48 and the jacket feel like it was custom fitted for me. It has a slim fitted retro feel and look with the added protection from pads in the shoulder and elbows. I get a lot of compliments with this jacket. The soft heavy leather surprisingly feels and moves nicely right out of the box, unlike my Schott jacket that took awhile to break in. There are nice big flexible pockets on the inside where I keep my bandana and sun glasses. zippered pockets on the outside and one extra zippered pocket inside the main zipper perfect for a cell phone. The perforation on the front helps keep me cool. I have been commuting in 80-90 degree San Diego weather daily and it has been more comfortable than expected for a leather but I would not wear it in the summertime in my home town of Richmond ,VA. I love this jacket and I highly recommend it.

Great reviews and fantastic retro look. Quality of the leather is a quite value for the purchasing price. The ability to upgrade back protection was a significant factor in choosing this jacket

For this particular purchase, I'm choosing style over protection. I'm choosing the perforated version because I live in Florida and hopefully I'm going to be able to use this even when temperatures are close to 80. This isn't my only jacket, make sure that you have a jacket that actually offers more protection!

This jacket is great. The only complaint I have is the fit. I generally wear a size 40 suit jacket, so I ordered the Brera in a 50. It was about a size too small, so I swapped it for a 52, and everything fits perfectly except the sleeves are a touch longer than I'd like. There's about an inch and a half on the sleeve that prevent me from saying the jacket is perfect. Having said that, everything else is exquisite. Great venting, armor is substantial but unobtrusive, and it looks phenomenal.

Does thie airflow version has mesh type of liner? Like the Revit Flatbush air?
Ace R on Jun 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it is not mesh, just some form of light nylon. Not removable. I am very happy with the quality of my jacket for the price. If it is any help to you, I bought a size 54, am 186 cm tall and weigh 92 kg. if you happen to live in some backwards country that had yet to shift to the metric system..,. Google it.
Does this jacket have a liner?
Thomas C on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but it's not a thermal one and can't be taken out.
How is the rain resistance of this jacket? I figure with the mesh it won't be waterproof, but some dryness in a light rain is what I am looking for.
A C on Oct 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You'll be ok if you get caught in a light rain - its not real porous.
Suitable for daily commute? I've been told the leather might not age well under the stress of daily commuter wear. I'd probably get a little rain, but I wear an over jacket for planned rain. I'm in Vancouver, BC. I've been told to lean towards the Devon instead for more hardy wearin.
A C on Jul 7, 2017
In what range of temperatures is this jacket comfortable?
A C on Jun 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wear the jacket for short commutes with a down vest underneath for temps down around 40F
and I just got back from 2000 mile round trip to Canada from CA with temps in 90s.
I love this jacket! Plenty of pockets, great fit, looks sharp, and is well made.
Can you take the armor out of the jacket to wear it more casually?
Joey Z on Nov 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Armor is well hidden, and you soon forget it is there
Will any of the other Alpinestars back protectors fit in this?
Jason C on Jun 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have the Nucleon Kr-1i and it fits, but you have to fold the edges to get it in there.
should I get this version or the non-perf. version?
just wondering if the perf jacket would look just as good in casual situations (not on motorcycle- but just going out)?
Aaron H on Mar 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have the Brera Airflow (perforated) and it looks great. I was worried about the holes making the jacket look goofy, but they don't. I love the jacket.
Can you wear force field armour under this jacket? Can you insert force field armour into this jacket?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, Forcefield makes armor the same size and shape as Alpinestars armor. They are specifically made for Alpinestars jackets, they are not "one size fits all". For Alpinestars, they have two shapes, the "010", and "011". Depending on the jacket in particular, and the size, one or the other will fit. Large jackets and up tend to be 011 size, but some Large Jackets which are less sportier in design only fit the 010, which is a bit smaller. Given that this jackets is a serious jacket, but as casual as it is agressive, I wouldn't be sure which of the two would fit, but I am 100% sure that one of the two will.

BTW, Forcefield recently came out with the Pro Lite K inserts. They are just a bit heavier and thicker than the Lite model (just a bit), but effectively protect as much as the Pro model. In my opinion, they are definitely the best insert on the market right now. Forcefield is the only brand I use for my jackets.
