Dakar season is nearly upon us

Stage One of the 2019 Dakar starts on January 7, and the world will be watching as racers navigate the terrain of Peru over 10 days. They've changed a few rules this year, including a UTV class (not SxS) and a "marathon" stage in which racers will have to leave their crews behind and service their machines alone. Dakar’s site says the race will be covered by NBC Sports in the United States.

Bike-urious presents: Ugliest Bikes of All Time reader poll

If you’re new to Abhi Eswarappa’s Bike-urious, here’s a good introduction. Normally focused on interesting motorcycles of all types, the most recent article rounds up some of the most… aesthetically challenged motorcycles ever made. Most of them are spot on, the ugliest is no surprise, but I would happily park a handful of them in my garage all the same.

Winter project season is here, and YouTuber Nils Holmann is already hard at work on some engine rebuilds. If you’re the sort of person who watches engine builds instead of sleeping, check this video out, and maybe the rest of the channel if the night is young. I found his Moto Guzzi engine build to be an interesting comparison to the Beemer.
