Excellent! This really should be part of the Sena 20S kit
I have owned several helmet bluetooth units over the years. I have also ordered, tested and returned several Bluetooth units over the years. While not a great overall product, the one that most closely matched my needs was one that included a handlebar-mounted remote control. Otherwise the other unit was a buggy mess that had poor electrical contact points. When I was looking to order a new bluetooth unit I spent many weeks comparing what was offered. When I read that the Sena 20S was going to have a remote control offered and based on the other specs of that unit I knew this was the bluetooth for me.
I ordered the 20S but the remote was not offered at that time. I installed the 20S and drove the bike for 2 weeks using the unit itself to control it. I guess I was spoiled having a handlebar remote previously, because I really didn't like needing to remove my left hand from the bar in order to change volume, change station/music track, trigger voice prompt etc. I don't like needing to push and turn the jog dial for certain features- it takes concentration to do it correctly- too much away from the road. When I saw that Revzilla was now offering the remote I ordered it. I received the remote last night, charged and paired it. The pairing process was not too bad but you need to view the most recent 20S users manual from the Sena website in order to learn how to pair the remote to the bluetooth unit. The quick guide in the remote kit was not well done.
After it was all paired I was now able to trigger all of the functions from the bluetooth unit with my left hand on the bar. Most features can be accessed using the joystick and/or front button and some with the rear button.
If I had one wish it would be a permanent install option, as I'm afraid if I leave this remote attached to my bike someone might swipe it.
Basically- 20S=Good, 20S+Remote=Amazing

Sena handlebar remote design is horrible
Bottom line in my opinion is do not buy this. The design is terribly flawed. There is no good way to position this device on your hand grip or handlebars that is ergonomic to use, and in some configurations I think it's just plain dangerous.

1) If you put it on your left handgrip, positioned as far to the right as it will go, then a) It's too big and eats up enough space on the handgrip that your grip position is no good anymore b) It's too big and blocks reaching around it to get to your horn or turn signals, and c) the arms protrude out the back towards your clutch handle in such a manner that if the remote were to get rotated by bumping it or whatever, then your clutch lever would be blocked, which could just flat out kill you if it happened at the wrong time.

2) The buttons aren't configured in an intuitive way and can't be re-configured. So for example, to answer a call you're supposed to press the back button, but the button is small, and the angle to reach it is weird, even if the remote is positioned on your handgrip where they want you to put it. If you put the remote anywhere else on your bars because you hate it on your grip as I do, then the back button is just completely inaccessible. Ok, so why can't I re-configure the buttons via software so the front button answers a call? Can't do it.

Overall, I hate this thing. I think the form factor is seriously flawed. It's TOO BIG. No re-configuration of the buttons. Arms are too long which may block your clutch. Overall design makes it useless. This really annoys me because it was bought as part of a kit (the Sena 10U for Neotech helmet) so I don't seem to have any options in terms of returning only the remote for a credit. I think Sena should re-design this thing from the ground up and give me a return credit against the existing item, but I seriously doubt that would ever happen.

I do not believe that the people who designed this remote have ever ridden a motorcycle.

Above my expectations for a change...
This came bundled with the 10U that I ordered for my Schuberth C3. I was almost scared off by some of the reviews due to clutch lever interference and reaching for the turn signals and the thought of opening my face shield to operate the controls of the 10U if this unit didn't pan out weren't very appealing. It's a roll of the dice being once electronics are opened they are not returnable unless there is actually something wrong with the product other than "I don't like it", so yes, do your research.

The remote came already paired to the headset so nothing to do there. It's the dead of winter here so I put the helmet on at my desk and with the quick start guide in front of me, I memorized the functions of the remote from phone calls, mp3, FM radio to communication with my wife's helmet in very short order. Coming from a Sena SMH10R on my 3/4 it made thing easy knowing Sena's navigation menu.

Then out to the garage for the part that most of the complaints seem to stem from, handlebar placement. I have thick padded grips so it was a bit of a stretch getting the remote over them but with the thick padding there is zero problems with it accidentally moving around. I ended up having to twist the remote so the opening of it was in line with the clutch lever so the joystick is facing almost straight up. That actually made the back button an easier reach for my thumb which is more commonly used than the front button and the front button an easy reach for my forefinger. Having somewhat long digits, I have a good reach with my thumb so the upward placement of the joystick isn't a problem. Now the hinge of the unit is now directly in line with the turn signal switch so I can see if you had small hands it might be a disadvantage but again, I have long thumbs so it isn't a problem for me. I should also mention that I have limited movement in my hands due to arthritis and still had no problems with any of the functionality of the remote's button's.

For me the functionality make this a no brainer. Being used to working the buttons on my SMH10R this makes the headset far more user friendly for this rider. If I come across an aftermarket clutch lever that allows clearance for the unit to be rotated it'll be on my list even though it works for me now.

I even played with putting this on the throttle where there is no interference with the brake lever at all. I can use it on either side, but that's me. I have options.

Regardless, I'm very happy I have it.

No more reaching
You need to upgrade the firmware to 1.4.1 or above for the unit to work. Then the manual needs to be downloaded again because the 1.3.1 instruction book that came with the S-20 units have no info about using the remote.
Once the unit is paired it works just a touch different then you might think. When turning on the Sena S-20 it says "Hello" and then "phone connected" but the remote is not connected until you push a button - then it will say "remote connected".

I originally got this, because at the time I was running the radio and trying to change presets was difficult having to push the button and rotate the dial while riding.

It is really nice not to have to reach up to change the volume or to play the next song etc. It can also pause the music which is nice sometimes. I have not used all the features of the remote just yet but after getting it setup it works well and the battery lasts a long time. Yes it would have been nice to include this with the S-20 (even at a higher price) as it makes the ride even more enjoyable not having to reach up to your head all the time.

Great concept, poor execution
This remote was a great concept but didn't meet my expectations when installed. The position of the remote prevented full use of my clutch which was very dangerous. I didn't even get out of the driveway with the device. Needless to say, it's going back.

One of my best purchases!
I'm so glad I bought this handlebar remote. I didn't realize what a pain it was to reach up to my headset all the time. Now I just toggle the remote with my thumb to control everything. Slips right on the handlebar and stays snug. I have even left it out in the rain and have had no problems. Great buy!

Great Product
I bought this thing to control the camera on my Sena 10C. Turns out, joke's on me; it doesn't. But I kept it because it's so dang useful. Control every other aspect of your comm with a button on your handlebar instead of having to reach up to your helmet?? Yes, please.

Distracting to the rider
The device itself is easy to use and navigate. I found reaching for the REAR BUTTON took a bit of a reach with the finger. Navigating with the JOYSTICK was easy and comfortable. I ride a '98 Honda VFR800. I bought the Sena handlebar remote thinking it would be useful and make me a more safe rider. It couldn't be furthest from the truth. When the device is placed on the grip, I noticed there was less grip for my gloved hand. thus, my pinky finger was exposed to the open air and off the grip. I didn't like that feeling at all. The remotes JOYSTICK is just in line with the motorcycle horn button. I noticed I had to be VERY conscious to "reach" around the joystick in order to press my horn. In an emergency situation, this device would have gotten in the way probably have me miss the horn and lead to something bad. Despite tilting the device or moving into a different position so I could reach the horn, the remote simple got in the way. I repackaged it and got my money back. The toy I expected it to be.

Very Buggy
As you would expect, the first iteration of this product was buggy. Would love for it to work but it does not. Some buttons work some do not. Was told by Sena techs to return the product to Revzilla and that they have been having issues with the product/software.
