A Tad Pricey, but High Quality
Picked these up yesterday at Cycle Gear and have ridden a few hundred miles in them.

Perhaps it is too early for me to properly evaluate these pants, but given that the REAX line is so new, and there aren't a ton of rider reviews for this gear, I'll put my $.02 out there.

The first thing I noticed about these pants was the high build and material quality. The zippers, snaps, and fasteners feel rock solid. Ditto for the mesh and polyester. I can see these lasting for several years.

The ventilation is outstanding! Really cools the nuggets. It was only 80f yesterday, and I was sweating in my Street & Steel Oaklands. Rode home with just the Alta over my boxers and loved every second of it!

I'm 6'0 tall and just a hair over 200 lbs. 34" waist, 32" inseam for most pants. The medium is damn near a perfect fit for me. Tried on the large also, but they were a little baggy for my taste. With the medium, I still have enough room to wear shorts underneath. Similarly-sized people who don't like slim-fit type jeans may prefer a large.

I will say that these pants have a tendency to ride up in the crotch area when stopped on my FJR. This goes away when the bike is moving, and does not occur on my Ninja, which has a much lower seat than the FJR.

I rated these at 4 stars because of the omission of hip armor. The CE level 2 knee armor is appreciated, and for $200, I feel like they could have thrown in hip protection. That's really my only gripe with the Alta, and I'm willing to admit that it's a fairly petty one.

Love these pants otherwise. Also tried on a pair of BILT mesh pants, which felt flimsy and cheap by comparison.

Hope this helps. But them.

Excellent riding pants!!!
I purchased these pants through my local Cycle Gear. Because it was a brand I was not familiar with, I wanted to check it out in person. I’ve had these pants for about a month now, been using once a week since. They have broken in nicely (didn’t require very much as the material was quite soft to begin with) and quite comfortable….be it 100 mile ride to 450 mile ride, everything feels great with no itchy or uncomfortable areas. Hasn’t been overly warm in California as of yet, but I can tell the pants allows plenty of air flow since I can easily feel the crisp air in the mornings. The material and stitching has held up great thus far. In terms of quality, I would put these right there with mid to upper level Alpinestars/Rev-It (2 brands I am most familiar with), which is right inline with the price point of these pants. To me, the best and most attractive feature of these pants are how understated they are. Other than a small obscure stitched Reax logo, there are no other logos or distracting emblems anywhere. For the brand-conscious, this means the pants can be worn with any brand jacket and won’t look out of place. For folks like me who just wants to have protective wear without being a billboard, these are a perfect fit. In terms of fit, these seem to fit true-to-size (regular to tapered cut) with no surprises. I am completely satisfied with these pants so far. If these pants are any indicator of styling, pricing and quality of Reax, I am looking forward to more Reax products in the future.

Quality Pants-Video is a disservice to the product
5'11, 240 lbs. In regular jeans I wear 38 and sometimes 40 (I fluctuate alot). I live in Florida and was looking for mesh pants there weren't overpants. Boxers or running shorts are all I want to wear under these.

I tried the Revit Airframe 2 pants and sent those back as they are really more of an overpant fit with alot of baggy material in the legs. I am a 2xl in Revit. Due to the slim cut of the reax I went to the max at 3xl. It was a good decision.

Plenty of adjustment in the waist and as expected the pants are a slightly tapered cut through the hips and legs with not alot of excess sticking out around the knees. There is some room for a hem if needed but I found this to be unnecessary.

The excess material at the cuff prevents the pants from riding up excessively while in the riding position. It also does not LOOK excessive when off the bike.

The knee armor sits exactly where it should and did not move out of place when riding. There are three pockets in the knee area to adjust height. The pockets have a sort of elasticated rim area to hold the armor in place. There is no velcro to attach the armor but I've found that to be a PIA in other pants.

Pants are very comfortable. No scratching the skin or rubbing agains the back of the knee. They really are on par with the revit offering in my opinion.

Airflow? It flows plenty of air. Almost like I have nothing on at times.

The muted styling is perfect. You can go for your weekend backroad ride or tour and grab a burger somewhere w/o looking out of place. It will also go quite well wtih just about any jacket. I have a Revit Tornado 2 and it goes well with it.

My only complaint migh be the top rear portion of the pants where hte connection zipper is. It tends to pull away from the body quite a bit when sitting or in the riding position. Jacket covers it but if you're in a tuck I would expect it would be worse. Probably needs to come up a little higher. Might not be an issue if you have no ass. Mine is somewhat substantial so it may just be me.

All in all, if you are looking for a quality pair of mesh pants that are NOT meant to be overpants and carry a trim cut then give this guy are serious look. Highly Recommended.

Oh, the pants do not come with hip armor just foam pads. Easily remedied but I dinged them for that on my scoring.

Great, but the knee pads will slide down on you
This is a great warm weather pant, but the knee pads slide down below the knee and fail to maintain the intended protection. These will require a bit of tailoring, but the mesh will make that potentially costly/difficult. Other than this, I really think the pants are of a great quality and perform well.

My suggestion would be some sort of Velcro or adjustable fastener to fit the knee pads into place so they don’t slide down in the pocket they reside in.

Hidden Gem!
Caveat - I drove to a Cycle Gear to try these on before buying (and did buy). I didn't have time to play the shipping game if they didn't fit.

These pants are very nice and need to have their own video review! The above review skips over them way to fast.

Sizing reference:
I am 5'9" tall, weigh 170, typically wear a size 33 Lee regular-fit jean. The Medium size fits great, and with the adjuster straps, I have room to loose at least 1" or gain at least 2" in my stomach. I typically just wear briefs or boxers under my riding pants. For kicks, I tried on a pair of thermal long-johns under the pants and was just fine.

Construction:
Without seeing these in person, I was afraid that these were going to be re-labled BILT (Cycle Gear) fodder, lol. While I can't speak about any of the other Reax gear (which they were sold out of) - this is def NOT the case with the Alta Mesh pants. I currently have pants from Olympia, AlpineStars, RevIt and Scorpion. These Reax Alta pants are constructed very well from what I can tell, just as good as the aforementioned brand pants that I have. The Sastec knee armor is the most comfortable on the market, IMO. The mesh is abundant and has double-seamed stitching throughout. Revzilla - thank you for a quality item and kudos to Cycle Gear for carrying this new brand!

Fit:
See above personal stats. Very comfortable material, no break-in required. The Sastec knee armor was a smart choice. The zipper has a double safety margin against popping open, I've never seen velcro used to keep the zipper flap closed, even if you forget to "zip".

Styling:
Nice-looking pants, not baggy! These are very neutral and you should be able to wear them with any other brand jacket and nobody would notice.

I did not give 5 stars only for the following reasons:
1. I feel for $200, it would have been nice if it had come with Sastec hip armor.
2. I would have preferred some stretch elastic in the waistband and just be given traditional belt loops vs the velcro strap cinching system. Picky, but a much simpler way of adjustment. I'm not a pants designer, so maybe this system works better for a variety of belly sizes, who knows?
3. Some Cordura on the impact areas would be sweet.

Honestly, compared to other pants, these Alta mesh pants are pretty darn good, give them a shot. :)
