NUVIZ Head-Up Display

A NUVIZ HUD projects an ultra-high resolution image onto a small clear surface just below your line of sight. When glancing down at this small 1.25 x 1" screen, it appears to hover in front of your bike at a focal distance of approximately 30 feet. This translucent image allows you to safely process your immediate surroundings yet absorb critical information like GPS mapping.

Once your route is mapped out within the NUVIZ app on your smartphone, NUVIZ takes over navigation using its own built-in GPS system. Your phone is still paired up for music and phone functionality but other than that, it remains in your pocket allowing your focus to be on the road ahead. You'll see your turns approaching, the posted speed limit of your current road and your actual speed.

Toggling between menu functions or snapping a quick picture is all handled through the wireless handlebar-mounted remote. The NUVIZ kit includes different controller mounting options so you can keep it within easy reach on almost any bike.

So far, the moto universe has only been teased with the concept of a Heads Up Display. That breath you've been holding can finally purge. Experience the future of motorcycling with NUVIZ.

Worst navigator in my life
here is my full experience after 1 week of daily use (Sep.16-23) with a new Nuviz 'from the box'. I use it with my iphoneX 256Gb., ios 11.4.1

-base/pad for the device is flat and lots of space left between it and helmet surface, dirt and water would do the rest or you have to add some silicone/glue into the hole.
-when nuviz is on the base, it still has little tolerance. but size is quite big, infront of the helmet. so on high speed you may get some dribbling and extra noize.
- you can fix it to your right side only. my right eye vision in not 100% (but almost ok). and still cant see it well. picture and text is 'blurred'. i have to close my left eye and focus hard to see it well. text is small and unreadable on the map even with big scale.
-no way of focusing/changing focal distance to improve 'vision' quality. so if your eyes just tired a bit after day in the office infront of the computer or you dont wear glasses/lense you will not see it well.
-voice calls are ok. sond clear, mic is ok too,
-nuviz cant access my iphones contacts despite all permissions are "on'. So i can only call back or i have to stop, take my phone, find a contact and then speak.
and voice control/assistant is not avaliable so i cant just use it or siri.
-camera is ok. its rotary, so you can point it well on the road. maybe some problems on a sport bike on high speed when you lay on the tank, - it will see only your board/windshield.
-photos/screenshots are saved inside of built-in memory (about 8Gb free space), but of ~50 shots is made only 10 were transfered to my phone 'nuviz' album, and quite random. i found the rest only when connected nuviz to my PC.
-i was unable to upload new maps (but latest software was updated ok). progress stops at 1% no matter if wi-fi or phone LTE internet is used. and there is no PC sofware.
-online maps doesnt load. i cant use navigation via phone almost ... never. only top level uploads, but impossible to scale or enter address by hands. map in nuviz is ok, but no use without phone application part.
-GPS signal is quite poor. maybe antenna is weak or something, but often it shows me driving somewhere aside from the road and voice keep fucking my brain to turn around, aside, or hit into the wall )))
-becouse of that it draws impossible instructions on the map. like children labirinth. crazy. i never met that awfull navi before.

So short overall:
-i would pay no more that 100$ for it if i tried it before purchasing.
-i will not recommend it as navigation gadget to anyone
-GPS is poor
-its ok for voice calls (hope you can link contacts, i could not.) and camera on the road
-no PC software for maps updates
-online services are awfull. software itself is raw.
-good as speed info infront of the eye. helps to control traffic speed / avoid speed cams.

Amazing product, I think revolutionary
Ok, this is the the first time I am reviewing a product because I think it really is great. Love that I have gps, phone answering, music choosing, time, and speed all at a glance in the corner of my eye. I did my alot of research on this before I decided to spend that much money and here is a few things that made up mt mind. OK first and foremost the big thing is price, yes it is expensive but their is nothing like it , It was like owning the first cell phone. Big and expensive, but eventually it will get smaller and cheaper. But not if no one will buy it. 2nd I realizes the plus size to buying this type of unit. All the other HUDs that are going to be out like the Skully which you still can't own, is that it is a full helmet. With the NUVIZ I can put it on a helmet that is comfortable to me and I know fits, Also you can by the mount and put it on multiple helmets if wanted. 3rd I like that unlike the HUDs built into the helmet that it has a detachable battery. The plus on this is amazing for me. This means if my battery died I can just pop in a extra battery that I bought and am good to go, I don't have to plug a whole helmet in. Another great thing is I thought if I had a helmet with a built in HUD and the battery will not hold a charge then I am SCREWED, but not with the NUVIZ. OK to the cons and everyone already can guess the 2. The price and the size. It is all your opinion, I took the plunge and bought it because I love having tech on my bike ride. Yes I like to ride and get lost and not worry where I am going, but when I want to get home or go somewhere I have everything I want in the corner of my eye. Hope this helps people out. Oh just remembered I wanted to state that I have it attached to my BILT techno 2 modular helmet. I have it linked to the Bluetooth in that.

New Tech is not always ready for the road
First off, I was given the Nuviz to review for a friend. I did not keep it and after my review, I did not buy one for myself. For some, the next new tech is more important to have than something that improves our riding experience, so we buy because we can. If you are someone that wants something new, then you can stop reading and purchase happily.

For the rest that values real review, here it goes. I want to say congrats to Nuviz for their development of this product and believe they will get it right in a next generation model, but this is not that product.

I have three helmets, three bikes, and the same Garmin GPS I use on all my bikes.

Fitment: This device uses a sticky mount for the right side of the helmet. If it is not a flat spot without vents, it will not fit. My Shoei RF1200 worked fine, but it will not fit on an Arai XD-4, Klim Krios, or my wife's HJC. It doesn't look like it will fit a Hornet X2, but haven't tried it myself. The mounting of this heavy device is at your own risk. If it falls off on the highway or if mounted you drop your helmet, investment lost.

Sound: The speakers and mic provided are not worth it IMO. Toss them and get a Sena or other comm device to bluetooth connect too.

Camera: The camera is ok, it saves pictures to your phone, but the video has to be downloaded separately. The camera feature is not worth it to me, most of us have phones or other cameras when we ride, use those instead.

GPS: This is cool feature, but must use NUVIZ app on your phone. It does not use Garmin files and must be entered independently than any other GPS. The directions must be off this app as they do not work with any other program. This limits the HUD for directions IMO. I make maps and rides from GPX or other files from online rides, Garmin basecamp, etc.

Remote: Very intuitive to use, really great.

Battery life: My experience with everything turned on minus video was around 8 hours, but you can purchase a second battery if you wanted a full days worth of use.

Final thoughts: If you must have it, you will likely get it. Its fun to use, but it is too heavy, bulky and lacks the features to make it a must have. I would suggest saving your money and purchasing a Sena 10C and GPS for the same cost. If Nuviz can get this 1/3 of the size, double the battery life, and make it flex across GPS's, then it'll be winner at twice the price.

Absolutely awesome piece of kit!
I don't have to look down to the gauges anymore, can listen to my tunes, take calls and navigate with ease. This thing has made my every day commute and weekend rides so much more fun and safer. Video quality is awesome too and and can start and stop recording while riding thanks to the handlebar mounted joystick.
Highly recommended!

A C on Oct 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, and the enemy will see you coming with this protruding from your helmet.
Is the unit waterproof?
Chris W on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would say water resistant, there are seals on the battery door. The user manual doesn’t say though.
how is the durability of this product?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I kinda agree with Aaron S review " Seems good in hand, solid. Glass and components in a fall? A risk. If you drop your helmet by accident or mount isn’t solid, out of luck." Yes I think it is solidly built. It is weatherproof and I think really thought out when built. As to dropping the helmet. with the other HUDs that are coming out like the Skully it is a full helmet and with any type of helmet impact you are suppose to replace it and after 4 years I believe is the recommended. This you can buy another mount and put it on a new helmet.
Where does it get its mapping info from (Google, Garmin, other proprietary database), and does it consider/update for traffic? Does it require constant info connection with the phone while riding?
Bradley H on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Nuviz App looks like it is Google Maps - I was surprised to see that street are displayed in local language.
Can I recharge while riding using a micro usb cable?
Jim C on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not for me. You can buy other batteries though.
Has anyone tried this with a tinted, smoked or mirrored visor? Is it harder to see with one of those?
Jason H on Mar 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have a mirrored visor on my helmet and I have had no problem seeing it. Display is clear even on sunny days.
Can you use the gps without preloaded rides?
Kevin S on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes. You can use rides in 2 ways. one being a set ride route and the other is like your point of interest. In the rides feature you can put in a starting point and map out the route or just have it set for current location.
can this be set up for someone who needs the image on their ledt side?
dan t on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, only right side.
Can it pair with a Bluetooth radar detector and show visible alert?
Chad T on Oct 30, 2017

Any intercom? For two up riding
