Shape: Long Oval

Weight: 2.87 lbs

What's this?

Nexx XR2 Carbon Helmet

With the Nexx X.R2, the best just got better. The two top vents are redesigned to increase airflow and reduce noise levels, carrying more fresh air directly to the forehead and interior of the helmet. The XR2 spoiler and aerodynamic profile reduce turbulence at high speeds. A race-ready flat face-shield has posts for tear-offs and Pinlock insert (both sold separately). The Easy Lock shield is more soundproof and airtight. The Nexx XR2 is a combination of technology, comfort and protection that helps you keep your mind on the road.

Fit:

  • Narrow internal shape, comparatively less width from ear to ear than other helmets but more forehead room
  • Runs slightly small, sizing up 1 cm is recommended (for example, if you measure in at 60 cm go with an XL instead of a LG)

Features:

  • Carbon fiber shell
  • 3 density EPS / impact absorption levels
  • 2 shell sizes: 2XS - LG and XL - 3XL
  • 2 front vents and 4 rear vents
  • Anti-allergic and anti-perspiration interior
  • CoolMax 3D lining, removable, adjustable and washable
  • Chin curtain
  • Removable breath guard
  • Double D-ring chin strap closure with anti-slip strap system
  • Anti-scratch polycarbonate Lexan face shield with central lock system
  • FastShot quick-change face shield system
  • Pinlock-ready face shield (insert lens sold separately)
  • Flat shield ready for tear offs (tear offs sold separately)
  • Face shield ventilation system
  • Aerodynamic profile
  • Aerodynamic rear spoiler
  • Reflectors on front, side and rear
  • Speaker cutouts
  • ECE 22-05 and DOT compliant

Note: Helmet ships with clear face shield. Cheek pads no longer have emergency pull straps.

for the price there are better options - GSXR rider
I bought this helmet from their NEXXUSA store, Revzilla did not have this at the time.
when I received the box it felt like there wasn't anything in it, that is how light this thing is. it comes with a clear visor, pinlock shield, extra pads to adjust sizing, chin curtain, and some stickers. (smoke visor sold separate)
overall I am pleased with the helmet but also owning a Shoei RF1200 a, AGV AX-08 Naked, and a Lazer Monaco the NEXX XR2 has somethings to be desired. below I will go over the pros and cons.

Pros:
*extremely light weight company states 2.9lbs
*very wide field of vision pretty close to what i have on the AGV AX-08
*extra padding to adjust sizing
*supplied chin curtain*
*great airflow
*looks amazing
*comfortable in hot weather

Cons:
*the liner and pads, they seem very thin and the way they hook in is in my opinion terrible. they use two plastic pieces that slide into each other not buttons or snaps
*the opening is very very small
*after wearing it a few times the back part of the padding came out and will not snap back in.
*the visor is either half open, full open or close. not really an in between.
*removing the visor is somewhat of a chore, compared to modern high tier helmets like Shoei or scorpion
* the price point. although not high for a higher tier helmet it is very high for what you get compared to say a Shoei or AGV in my opinion.

do I recommend this product? Yes and No, if you are looking for a nice lightweight helmet that looks awesome and is carbon fiber than for this price you cannot really go wrong, however for $500+ you can do better.

Many Positives, But Not Quite Perfect
I really wanted this to be my new 'favorite' helmet. It looks so good, colors match my bike, it's amazingly light - but after using it for a few weeks it just falls short in a few areas. I will preface this by saying I have a round to intermediate oval head shape and this was the first issue for me. The Nexx XR2 is more of a long oval with a very small oval opening. So, for my 'melon' it was and still is difficult to get in and out of this helmet. This is not a problem for a helmet that gets primarily used at the track, but it is something to be aware of if you are planning to use this as a commuter who takes short jaunts around town. The helmet has gotten more comfortable as I have used it and I have no major complaints - but the interior is not quite as cushy as other high end helmets.

The fit and finish of this helmet also left me wanting more - I've owned multiple other high end helmets in the past and the finish on these have always been perfect. When I received my Nexx XR2, there were some spots in the rear vents where black paint was missing and the carbon fiber 'mohawk' along the side had some clear coat swirling. I've attached some pictures to further detail this minor problems. All in all, I was not overly impressed for a helmet of this price.

With my nitpicks out of the way, this helmet truly shines as a track helmet. It is feather-like in weight and its viewing angles are by far the largest of any helmet I've used. There is minimal buffeting at speed and while the helmet wasn't quiet, I didn't think it was particularly loud. If you can get over my criticisms, or if you're looking specifically for a track helmet, this should be near the top of your list.

Great for the Track, as well as the road
I chose this helmet over my AGV for track use.
Better Vision side to side as well as a top to bottom, great for seeing where you are going tucked, as well as side glances...I also wear glasses...
Great Fit, as stated I normally wear AGV, this for me with my head shape was a no brainer... Super light! :-) Blows Folks away.. Stands up well to being abused down the track! :-)
Noise level is great, on the track I don't wear ear protection, and its great. 5 stars all of the way

Amazingly light and comfy with good vision
I wear this as a daily rider helmet and having 500g less on my neck is amazing!

I am an XL Shoei and Shark helmet person, this helmet is a little bit bigger all around so i needed to add (the included) padding to get it to fit right.

Because the helmet is carbon fiber by design, the viewing window is very wide compared to Shark or Shoie

the feel and paint is very high grade and feels better than any of my old helmets.

now where does it fall short? features. no drop down visor like on my sharks is a big negative. That said the shark speed-r does not have the vision or comfort of the NEXX.XR2.

The visior replacement is quick and easy, but only if you are not gentle. the snap on snap off feels too tight but once you get over the fear factor of snapping the visor it is quick and easy

Awesome style and lightweight.
Initially was worried I may have ordered too small. There is a lot of room for the helmet to mold to your fitment comfortability.

Worth it
If you are anything like me, and really do your research on something before you buy something, then please continue reading.

I honestly looked for about 2 months before settling on this amazing helmet. I considered a ton, from styles to name brands. I never understood why there were tiers within helmet price and functionality. Skipping my personal efforts and all the different helmets I personally tried on, this helmet, damn.

First, this is the only helmet I've worn and thus you'll have to take this review for what it's worth.

Pros: quiet, very surprisingly quiet (that is unless you're going 80+ and have a windshield deflecting all that wind onto your helmet, then yeah, stick your head out of your car going that same speed, or if you have a sun roof, open it... that's what it sounds like. but, like everyone I know and tons of other helmet review state, get some cheap ear buds and you're fine. I picked some non-disposables from a sports store for $4, now 80+ mph sounds like I'm inside my car. I really don't hear much). Second pro, it looks amazing, style is on point. It's noticeably light.

Cons: over $500 but apparently you have to put that kind of money into a good helmet. (Who wouldn't be happier if it was a $380 helmet. And this it's a con, still worth it though). Insta-fog at 4am when im riding to work, however once you're moving your fine. The thing is, even with the deflection for your breath or body heat raising, I still is very much prone to fog, even with the insert.

A lot to love, a few to improve upon
My first "expensive" helmet after 3 mid level ones. The previous were fitting perfectly and I did not see any reason to pay more for no proven benefit (read no better protection).
What first directed me to this helmet is the design. After viewing literally hundred of pictures, I kept getting back at this one. I like the carbon style but not all black since I believe it is not visible enough.
What blow me away is the weight. At 1.3kg it is by far one of the lightest helmet I have ever hold. And it really feel when you wear it. In the street or at the track the weight is really a great comfort factor.
The visor extend far up which is a real benefit on the track when you are tuck under the bubble. It offers great visibility.
Ventilation is really effective and I can feel if the vents are open or close, which is a real plus here in Tucson.
I also really appreciate the reflective paint on the side and bellow the pad that add visibility.
I found the helmet very comfortable after a week of break-in. Past helmet were S, this one is M and is the right size for me. I like them very snug. S would have been too tight.
Noise level is in part with what I experienced in the past, but I always ride with ear plugs.
Manufacture quality is impeccable, both on the shell and pads.
There is still some minor details Nexx could improve on this helmet, and I intend to contact them to let them know.
1/ The tab to open the visor is located at the center, right above the vent tab, so it is not easy to grab with gloves. Side location is much better.
2/ The bevel in the visor is deflecting some light, and it is distracting. You think you saw an object coming at you, when it is actually going away but refracted by the bevel.
3/ The chin strap pads are not overlapping perfectly, and the chin strap could be located a little further in front to be more comfortable.
All in all, I am very pleased with this helmet. I am using it everyday on my commute, and on the week-end at the track. I would definitely recommend it.

Great helmet that's really light and has a wide peripheral. First bike and first helmet, so i had a hard time choosing anything over a shoei, but for me...peripherals come next after protection.

Liner Nightmare
This helmet is incredibly lightweight and the fit is very good.
In spite of that, I would not recommend this helmet to anyone who is planning to use any kind of communication device. I spent 4 hours trying to re-install the cheek pads after putting speakers in place. I eventually gave up and have not been able to actually ride with this helmet. The unique locking system for the pads is an absolute nightmare and will provide you with untold frustrations.

I wanted a carbon helmet with a focused purpose on track days and racing. It was down to the Joe Rocket or the Nexx helmet. After reading reviews and watching video demonstration I realized this helmet had more of track focus.

The color and style concept is also very attractive.

A shopper on Aug 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, this helmet is not Snell Rated at all.
Review by Anthony on Revzilla Tv states the helmet comes with the Pinlock. One of the reviews on the "Customer Review" tab states the helmet is equipped with Max Vision Pinlock Insert. What's going on here? Does it come with it or not?
A shopper on May 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My helmet came simply with the carrying sack and the foam inserts for adjusting fitment of the helmet. It did not come with the Pinlock insert, I had to go buy one to add to the visor.
Fitment how does the xr2 fit? I'm between small and medium. I wear a small shoei for referance.
A shopper on May 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I use to have small Scorpions, and have a medium XR2 that fit snug.
