What's this?

Bell Bullitt Carbon Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

Looks Cool but a few issues
Great looking helmet and I haven't any issues with it being noisy. It also seems to have pretty good arflow. There are a couple of design issues that I think really should be addressed in such an expensive lid:

a) Head liner snap design digs into your temples with the forehead snaps. C'mon Bell...this is a terrible design....did anyone actually wear this thing when testing the design? Anyway...I just removed the plastic tabs in the headliner and sewed it in a few places directly to the leather piece attached to the inner shell. Problem solved and I'll just remove and re-sew when I need to clean the liner.

b) I ride year around in Portland, OR. Rain water runs down the inside of the shield. It wouldn't take much and wouldn't affect the looks much (imo) to add a gasket around the top of the opening to stop water from running down.

c) Pinlock sheild availability would be nice. The anti-fog coating does a pretty good job...but when it gets much colder it's going to be hard to keep it from fogging up.

Airflow tip: Take the face shield magnetic tab and fold it underneath the face shield so it is caught between the shield and the chin bar of the helmet...then pull down on the face shield a little. This will create a small gap to add a bit of airflow without the shield being too far open or rattling around in the wind.

Nice style, design flaw.
Lovely looking and light.
Good visibility. Better ventilation that Gringo.
But they use metal poppers (metal snaps, rivets) to attach the liner.
METAL poppers that dig into your forehead.
Stylish, premium but uncomfortable.
Tried a few Bullits on and had to walk away.
(If your forehead has special dents in it to accommodate these metal poppers this might not be an issue)

Retro Lite, Carbon Cool!
Let me clarify this first, I've had experience with many styles of helmets. This means I've worn 1/2 helmets, 3/4 styles, and full face, motocross helmets, etc...I point this out because of some of the unfair comments out there.
Okay here's my two cents on this. Noise, if you've worn nothing but the traditional modern full face yes this won't be the quietest helmet, but if coming from a 1/2 or even a 3/4 this should be few lower decibels in improvement with the visor down. So to say it's a loud helmet if you're coming from a Shoei or Arai is unfair, it's just not apples to apples.
Yes there is noise coming from the top vents when your head is at certain angles when the visor is down. But I don't notice it that much coming from a 3/4, and in the summer I plan to remove the shield and just wear shades. In conclusion it's not a loud helmet, but better then a 3/4 style.
Fitment is right on the money with the Bell custom 500 sizing, around the diameter of your head so go with what is recommended. I wear a large in the 500 and this fit the same way. I'm an intermediate oval shape and there is a tad of pressure to be expected in the break in process, but give it a few "short" rides to take form correctly.
I bought the carbon RSD bagger version and it's just cool looking, I'm not too sure the weight is noticeable until you're a few hours into the ride does weight really play into effect. But did I say it was cool looking? Okay moving on.
Let's just say it's a really nice light weight helmet that is convertible with the many shields types, or you can remove it. I really love 3/4 helmets but as I'm getting older I may be getting more concerned with protecting my face from the asphalt, so the chin bar was to return! Having a retro looking bike this was a complimentary option. The full face has the largest unrestricted view with full face coverage which helps me feel less constricted.
The interior is nice looking, somewhat soft, and let's face it you're not buying this helmet for modern ventilation so it will get hot unless you ditch the visor.
Yes I would recommend the helmet if you like the sound of the bike, and some wind isn't going to make you run to your safe space. If you plan to be a moto-vloger who has to have technology throughout your entire commute, then this isn't for you.
For me it's a great fit, lightweight, full face protection, allows some road noise, great visibility, and it's a beautiful retro look. Is it expensive? Well that depends on what your willing to spend on protecting your head. Life is short, don't regret the small things in life, in other words wear the best protective gear you can afford and enjoy it.

Perfect Summer Helmet
Great summer helmet with or without a shield.
The shield doesn't really seal against a gasket, so it's defineitly louder than a non-retro helmet at speed.
Fit and finish is top notch, carbon twill is symmetric and uniform. Well worth the money.

Stylish yet comfortable helmet.
Being a new rider, I wanted a helmet that was comfortable, light, and have very good peripheal vision. Normal helmets makes me a little clausterphobic but I also wanted a full face helmet. Although it's on the expensive side, this helemt fulfills all my requirements.

Gorgeous, stylish, light, styligsh, awesome helmet.
It may be very expensive, but it's part because of the carbon, part behind the RSD design on it (I own the bagger one).

Great visibility, sometimes I forget I have a full face on. Two visors included, flat black one, clear bubble one.

Both are very noisy, to be expected on this kind of helment.

Great ventilaton, given the gigantic opening and rivet-placed vents.

Now, as previous reviewers stated, the holder thingies on the liner are two very unwanted pressure points; you can remove them and the fit is great. I used some adhesive really thin velcro in place and worked wonders.

Overall, paired with my Ronin jacket on my black retro bike, it's an amazing look. Isn't what this helmet is about?

Great Style, SUPER light
as other members pointed out the style cues for this helmet are on point, if you're going fro that retro cafe racer look this helemet is a must. the carbon fiber option makes it ridiculously light. down side a lot of read noise and it tends to run a little small go for a size larger.

Vintage cool style with up to date features. Versatility with the different shields, or no shield at all. I really like the idea that the Bell Bulitt helmet looks great without the shield, almost like a 3/4 helmet.

I wear a 3/4 helmet in the summer because a full face is too hot. This helmet is really light and has great air flow so I will be able to wear it all summer.

What is the color of the interior on this carbon fiber Bell Bullitt?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I expected it to be black, but it is brown. I also expected the trim and the vents to be black, like in the picture, but they are chrome. These were big disappointments for me, I wanted it to be all blacked out like the pic.
I am 60cm when measuring my head, however in arai helmets size XL still tight and causes me headaches.
What I'm asking if this is a loos XL or should I opt for the XXL?
A shopper on Jun 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This mostly depends on the shape of your head. If you are not an intermediate oval going larger then what is specified isn't going to make buying the larger helmet any better. If you have worn a Bell Custom 500 they fit very similar.
When side checking going highway speeds (60+ mph) does this helmet have any pulling/shifting issues?
memmielee on Jun 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, very much. But I find it acceptable on classic designs.
Is the color of the interior and the exterior trim brown? I see the picture showing they are black.
Diego A on Jun 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The interior color is brown but the exterior is matte black, that's why in the picture looks brown.
Does this helmet have a bell logo on the forehead of it?
A shopper on Apr 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, like the Bullitt TT the Bullitt carbon bears the same Bell logo sticker.centred above the eyeport. The sticker is easily removed if you are inclined to do so.
