Icon Akromont Jacket

The unknown rolls steadily toward us as we are writing the history of things to come. Stare through the haze and face it head on in the Icon 1000 Akromont Jacket. Its durable textile chassis is grafted with drum-dyed leather panels to provide the retrograde engineered riding solution. A full D3O impact protector package at the elbow, shoulder and back is standard with the Akromont, as is the removable insulated SatinCore vest liner. YKK Aquagard zipper and Ax Suede lined collar complete the package. Our last stand will not be in the future. It will be here, in the present.

Features:

  • Icon 1000 Sport Fit
  • Durable textile chassis
  • Water resistant (light rain and splashes)
  • D3O impact protectors at shoulders, elbows and back
  • Removable, insulated SatinCore vest liner
  • YKK Aquagard zipper
  • Integrated flex zones
  • Leather elbows
  • Ax Suede synthetic suede-lined collar
  • 2-way vented cuff
  • Debossed leather in high impact areas

Needed a fall/early spring jacket and holy style points, Batman
I have the Icon Anthem 2 for my summer/commuting/twisties riding and I love it. But I needed something to extend the commute and riding season for me. After tens of minutes of research between this and the Hypersport (I liked the idea of leather but heard the Hyper breathes really well which isn't the intended goal here), and Merc jackets I pulled the trigger on the Akromont.

Once I opened the bag, it was all typical Icon (and Icon 1000) style points out the wazoo. Little knuckle dusters on the liner, a same-material little wallet-ette for an emergency contact card (and registration and things), the elbow's soft-as-an-angel quilted detail at the D30 pad, rain gussets, stretch panels, and longer butt. All what I expect from Icon at an INSANE price point for what you get. Classic Icon.

Some notes: I'm 6'1" 200lbs and the XL fits 99% perfect. I'd like a longer sleeve but it isn't short by any means, and those thumb loops would have been the cherry on top but meh, I can overlook it for all the other great points.

I took it for a quick and wet ride just now and it breathes well enough to not cook me but not too much that I can't use it for its intended purpose during the cooler mornings and such. I have enough room for a thin hoodie and/or my heated liner.

Comfort got one taken down for the literal 1/4" short sleeves and lack of thumb loops. But again, it's not short by any means and I have long arms.

How would this jacket work in summer riding?
David W on Jun 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Today was 85-90 degrees in Colorado. it was pretty dang warm without the liner in. It's more of a late season/cooler weather jacket.
