Great Pants for Sport Commuting
I've been looking for a pair of overpants after learning a hard lesson on why you don't commute in dress slacks. Rode in for the first time with these today (next day delivery, thanks Revzilla!) and am mostly happy.

Back story, I originally went with a pair of Rev'it Enterprise 2's (size small) but they were comically large on my frame (5'6", ~29" inseam, 135-140 lbs, and large legs), and Revzilla recommended a pair of Dainese pants as they are cut slimmer. I was tempted by the full zipper on the Over Flux pants, but the minimal armor was a deal breaker, and I ended up waiting for these new Drake Air D-Dry's to start shipping. They are a little pricey, but there aren't a lot of high airflow/high protection options out there.

First on sizing, I went with a 48 and they fit well as overpants (though better without the d-dry liner). Waist is about right over slacks and a belt, legs are on the slimmer side so I have to pull my slacks through the legs a little, inseam is about an inch too long, knee armor is fine in the riding position though. If I were to size as normal riding pants, I would have gone with a 46. FYI, my Laguna Seca Evo one piece is a 50 short, and I can barely get my legs through that suit, so sizing on the Drake Airs runs different than the race suits (or maybe the short suits are cut narrower, I don’t really know).

In terms of comfort and features, I don't have a lot to say other than these feel great to ride in. I primarily bought these for the additional armor over the Drake Super Airs, so I pulled the D-Dry liner immediately and can't comment on the pants with them in. The knee and shin armor is beefy and looks like it would hold up well in a crash, the hip armor is CE rated but is very thin and I have my doubts on effectiveness, but we'll see. I had some fairly painful bruising on my left hip after my accident, so I'm likely more wary than most. Without the liner, the pants seem to flow a fair amount of air and are very comfortable. I hate layering clothes, but it's not noticeable with the pants over slacks. It felt like I was just in a pair of riding pants. We'll see how they feel when summer sets in here in LA, but I'm liking them right now. I also had minimal wrinkling on my slacks after a 12 mile commute. The zipper system connects perfectly with my Dainese Stripes Evo leather jacket, and adds to the sense of security with these pants. I don’t use the slash pockets, but they seem like they would be a little hard to get into with a jacket on.

Other than the minor nitpicks noted above, I really only have two complaints with the pants. One, the cuffs are too narrow to fit well over a pair of mid-height boots (Astars SMX-3). I can’t fully zip the legs when going over the boot. I just tuck them, but it’s unfortunate as an extra .25” of material would have allowed me to zip that last inch or two. The flip side of this issue is also that the legs aren’t cut narrow enough to really work as an in the boots kind of pant, and you end up with a bunch of extra material when tucked. My second complaint relates to the mesh paneling. It does provide a ton of airflow, but the pants don’t offer the protection of something like the New Drakes. This is somewhat obvious, but the mesh panels are just straight up mesh. If you go down and end up sliding on a mesh section and not the D-Synth section, it’s going to suck. If you only ride in boots, I imagine this should not be an issue, but the lower legs are all mesh if you ride in low cuts.

Overall, I am happy with the pants and think this is a great option for those looking for sport commuting or sport touring pants. Goes without saying that Revzilla customer service is also the best.

Size 46 5' 7" 145 lbs (little chubby)
I just received these in the mail, and tried them on, walked around, sat on my couch, etc. I don't have a bike at the moment, athough I've had a few Yamaha WR250Xs, and during that time (around 2.5 years total) I went through a lot of gear in the process of finding what fit well.

The length is perfect, the overall fit and waist are snug, but not tight. If I was packing any more fat, or was very muscular I'd need a size 48, at which point the length might be off.

These pants are maxed out at 145lbs, and I'd say the length is ideal for a 170 cm (5' 7") rider, and would probably work well for anyone 5' 6" - 5' 8", ~125-145lbs.

Bought these for a trip I'm taking in June.

Pics dont match the pants
Just got these in red/white/black and the pictures/video here don't match what I got. The Dainese logo is in white font on a white background, which makes it almost invisible. Basically makes it look like you have a knock off brand of gear. Sounds like Dainese might have changed the design after they sent out the demo pants to Revzilla. Not sure if I'm going to return them or not. Otherwise they are great pants, but they look really odd in such loud colors without any noticeable branding.

Awesome sport commuter pants
Did not get those pants through Revzilla due to exchange rate at the moment(I live in Canada) otherwise I would have because I love their reviews...anyway, on with my review.

I just got the pants, so it is not going to be a long term review but a first impression/first ride review.

First off, they seem to be really well made with good quality materials as any Dainese products. The front closure, button and zipper, are well placed and will no doubt last. The d-dry liner has a nice opening in the front with elastic to make it easy to go to the washroom.

As noted in another review, on the black/white/red model, the Dainese lettering on each sides of the legs are not black but in white reflective material, no big deal for me but keep that in mind if you want that color.

On my first ride with the pants today, it was about 50 degrees outside with some light rain at times, I rode for about 1 1/2 hour. I was wearing the pants with nothing under but underwears and I was perfectly comfortable with the d-dry liner which blocked the wind and rain.

The knee protectors are well placed and can be easily ajusted and down and they do not move.

With the liner removed, those pants will flow a ton of air and I don't foresee any issues wearing them in 90 degrees weather.

For sizing reference, I am 5'9", 180 lbs and in jeans I usually wear 32/31, I got size 52 and they are perfect, with some ajustment either way with the "baked in belt".

If any issues were to arise, I will update this review but I higly doubt it. I hope this will help you make an informed decision.

Excellent Klim alternative
The D-dry thing is pretty much what I expected...only useful for cold weather and not rain. Here is the issue. The D-dry is hard to get in and off. The pants themselves are hot for a guy here in Florida in the summer, so I remove my pants to wear these. Hence, expect to sweat of you wear these as overpants. With underwear they are excellent heading home from work at 17:00 each day. I expect the D-dry will be perfect for December and January here in Tampa, but for our monsoon season here from June to September, I simply wear underwear underneath these and suffer the wet butt. For those days that rain plagues us on the way into work at 7AM, I simply wear my Gore-tex bicycle gear. It's thin, I can wear them over jeans and don't interfere like the D-dry. The D-dry is way too hot.

Does the pant have gussets for flexibility in the riding position, also will the 360• zipper work with a '2015 Dianese super speed textile jacket?
Matthew B on Jan 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The pants are "pre-curved" so I did not have any issue in the riding position, they are also not bulky at all, I would say no more than a jeans even with the liner in, so no flexibility or mobility issue for me. The zipper worked with my racing d1 jacket and I am pretty sure the 360 zipper are all the same accross the Dainese products.

It says that the Drake Air D-Dry has a waterproof-breatheable liner. Is this a removable liner, or is it built into the pants?
Ted E on Jul 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's completely removable so you can fully enjoy the vents. I took mine out but carry it on longer rides for cooler mornings/nights.
