Akrapovic is proud to introduce a stunning Racing Line exhaust for the Yamaha FZ-09. The FZ-09 is a bike with a strong focus on riding emotion and represents a new direction in sport-bike evolution. A bike designed to give homage to the darker and unconventional side of Japanese society can now be made even more mean, moody and exciting with the addition of Akrapovic's offering.
The Akrapovic Racing Titanium system is constructed from high quality stainless steel with a titanium alloy outer sleeve on the muffler body. A ‘slash-cut’ outlet section has been designed to retain the narrow lines of the FZ-09 and has a removable baffle plate, which features three stylish exit ports. Peak power gain of 5.4HP at 9900 rpm and peak torque of 3.9lb-ft at 5000 rpm. Increased power-to-weight ratio with weight reduction of 5.3 lb compared to stock exhaust.
The Akrapovic Racing Carbon Fiber system, with its striking carbon fiber outer-sleeve and stainless steel headers, suits the naked design of the Yamaha bike and this exhaust will certainly bring the best out of the high-torque 3-cylinder engine that beats inside the heart of the Yamaha. Producing an extra 4.7lb-ft of torque at 5,150 rpms and increased power output of 6.8HP, the Racing Line (Carbon) will produce powerful and thrilling performance in everyday conditions, as well as help to improve the overall experience of the machine thanks to a weight saving 8.4lb from the original system!
The Akrapovic Racing Line has been designed specifically for demanding riders and represents an ideal balance between price and performance. The exhaust systems are dramatically lighter compared to stock exhaust systems and feature exceptional production quality and increased engine performance combined with pure racing sound output. The headers and mid-pipes are constructed of high-quality stainless steel conical tubes with precision handcrafting. A special process known as hydroforming is used in the manufacturing of the exhaust pipes. This process injects pressurized water into each tube to form the ideal shape for optimum exhaust flow without causing creases or compromising the strength of the steel.
Akrapovic Exhaust’s unique design enables them to obtain the maximum output for each specific model of motorcycle, while significantly reducing overall weight. If anyone was wondering about sound, YouTube or any other videos (including Revzilla's) doesn't do justice. The Titanium is very deep toned with the DB Killer in and without the DB killer its even more deeper and loud. its not like a 600 screaming load, its more like a luxury nice sounding loud. I love it!
I've uploaded pictures for some angle shots including of the pipe. hope it helps you future buyers. When the pipe is broken in and heated up it has that nice bronze/purpleish blue to it.. Just take the time to clean and wipe the pipes after the installation with degreaser so fingerprints or other grease/oil won't permanently bake onto the pipe :)
When I saw the great price Revzilla had the full exhaust listed for I made the purchase. Amazingly two days later it was at the house with standard shipping.
Directions included were easy to follow, and in less than 20 minutes the FZ lost 10 pounds and picked up even more of the glorious low and mid range the triple is known for, and where it really counts. A deeper sound greets you with every twist of the throttle, and avoids the obnoxious note often found with other cans.
Akrapovic designed the pipe with Yamaha to not require an aftermarket tuner, and with the O2 sensor installed it runs flawlessly.

1. You're really into squeezing all the performance you can out of the phenomenal 3-cylinder engine.
2. You want your bike to sound like an angry jungle cat growling before the kill.
Either way, you're going to get what you're looking for. I'll admit that I was hesitant to spend so much on aftermarket parts, but I'm sure as heck glad I did. The bike sounds incredible and there is definitely some noticeable performance gain in the higher-rev range (5k-7k), especially in 'A' mode.
The high quality of the carbon fiber and of the titanium headers is evident, and looks great poking out of the side of the bike once installed.
My ONLY issue with the whole installation was the instructions provided. I'm a pretty handy guy, but when you're trying to be gentle and not screw up your bike, a little more in the instructions department would have been very helpful. Specifically, finding the brackets and bolts to loosen vs those you need to remove was a little tricky, but all in all, it wasn't THAT hard: took me about an 2 hours (had to find metric socket set)
Long story short, if you have the money and you're thinking about this product versus another product, get this one. You will not regret it.
I got the full titanium exhaust and absolutely love the looks. I liked the styling of the stock, and this exhaust does the same thing except much better. Really cleans up the underside of the bike.
Super easy to install. I'm no mechanic and was able to put it together in a little over an hour.
Performance seems good. With baffle in, the exhaust seems to work well with the stock fueling/mapping. Very few backfires/ decel pops. Bike does seem to wheelie even easier (suggesting there is a power difference)
Sound is perfect. I don't like crazy loud bikes. With the baffle in, it's perfect for me. Adds a deep tone when you start up the bike. In low Rpms the bike gets a much "deeper" sound and is quite a bit louder. When you get on the gas, the sound slowly changes back into that awesome triple scream, but doesn't seem much louder at high Rpms. Overall, my bike gets a lot more looks at it passes, and they are looks of admiration, not annoyance. With baffle out, this bike will cause you to lose hearing in 5 years. So there's that.

Installation was easy and straightforward. Included instructions are very clear.
If you plan on removing the silencer, do it before installing the muffler. Remove the set screw, then use a long pipe to tap it out from the inside.
Installing it was a dream, the instructions are by far the easiest I have seen, sliding it all together was no task and it fits PERFECT.
Sound is pristine with a great bass tone, rumble and complimenting the triple cylinder well. The back fire is also pretty sexy too. This was installed on my Blazing Orange FZ-09 and took about an hour to install.
This is IMO the best bang for the buck upgrade that effects performance you can do to this awesome machine!
Install was fairly easy with the help of a friend and simple metric tools.

The carbon is much throatier than stock, but nowhere near as loud and obnoxious as the titanium with the silencer removed.
If you keep the silencer in on the titanium exhaust it is a little louder than stock, but not as loud as the carbon.
So if you are going for all out loudness, get the titanium...and remove the decibel killer silencer from the tip. It is just one screw and you can pull it out.

If you want added performance and wicked sound - go with the Carbon version.
