If you've seen the MotoGP races so far this year, here are some videos that show what happened off the track.
These two new series reveal the pressure that riders at the top level of world championship competition must withstand. The video below, the third episode in the series INSIDE Ducati Lenovo Team, covers the chaotic Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, with its aborted start triggered by Marc Márquez's decision to run off the grid as the race was about to begin.
If you're still not sure exactly what happened and why in those moments of confusion, I suggest (as usual) you read David Emmett's analysis at Motomatters. He clearly explains the rules, how Márquez thought he knew a way to take advantage of those rules, how he was really mistaken, and how he got away with it — until he crashed out of the lead anyway. After that, the video pulls back the curtain on what the atmosphere was like in the Ducati box on that day and leading up to it.
Another new series is on a new YouTube channel under Pecco Bagnaia's name. The first episode of GOFREE: Under the Helmet is now out and focuses on the first round at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand. But beyond the events of the race weekend, the interviews with Bagnaia reveal some of the truths of the life of a professional racer. Such as how, once you've been a race winner, nothing short of a win really feels good. Such as the experience of having the pressure piled on him when he was a 16-year-old racer in Moto3. And how he came to see the pressure as a privilege.
It will be interesting to see where the GOFREE series goes from here — and how Bagnaia's season develops — as well as how the Bagnaia versus Márquez competition unfolds.
