Video: Red Bull Imagination is a dream freestyle showdown

Riders get two five-minute sessions to grab the most points. Imagination scores on “magnitude, creativity, execution and overall line” as judged by Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg, Robbie Maddison, Steve Haughelstine and Ronnie Faisst.

2021’s course is a revamp of 2020’s, integrating a few lessons learned for even wilder lines. Red Bull does a phenomenal job of keeping the cameras rolling throughout this event, so if you’d like to see how they designed the track, give this video a watch. They also caught the initial practice rounds in this video. You know the course is something special when even this crew expresses some doubts about what’s possible — not that anything could stop them from trying. Box features, wall rides, huge transfers, a dirt jump built into the back of a dump truck… There’s an energy here that reminds me of early FMX videos, but with a budget those OG riders never had. Ryan Sipes walking away from a scary wreck. Spoiler alert: Axell Hodges throws down with massive jumps and clean lines for first place, followed by Colby Raha and Tyler Bereman.

"Red Bull Imagination is my crazy thought process of what I want to do on a dirt bike,” said Bereman. “All the riders have left saying it was the most fun they have ever had. It's so gnarly. Five minutes of literally the scariest jumps of all time. We saw freeriding take the next step… That was my whole goal with this thing, to create a platform and show the possibilities."
