Industry veteran launches XcelerateTV, on-demand streaming motorcycle content

Nov 18, 2021

It's not hard to find motorcycles in the media, from props meant to add cool factor to ads to appearances in movies that often focus on caricatures or extremes of the motorcycle world. What's harder to find is motorcycle content actually aimed at passionate motorcyclists and the stuff we're really interested in.

Industry veteran Chet Burks, who has been shooting motorcycle racing and producing motorcycle feature content for 30 years, is now leading a new streaming service called XcelerateTV to serve riders. The on-demand service offers a seven-day free trial and a subscription costs $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year.

What can you watch on XcelerateTV? There are past series such as "What's in the Barn" and "Cafe Racers" and new and exclusive content such as documentaries about figures in the sport and custom builders. There will be instructional videos to improve your riding skills in conjunction with Fastrack Riders. In "Flat Track Fridays," seven-time champion Chris Carr will take a look back at the history of flat-track racing and the stars of the past. Archives of historical road racing lets you revisit (or see for the first time) the peak days of AMA Superbike when six brands ran full factory teams.

The audience for motorcycle-specific content has always been a small niche in the overall U.S. media landscape, and that niche is not getting any bigger. On-demand services make available content that otherwise we wouldn't see, but the cost (literally) is another subscription to pay and manage. Given Burks' long history in television and a wide range of motorcycle content, XcelerateTV is worth a look.
