It's easy for those of us in the English-speaking world to get caught off guard by surprising motorcycle news on December 28. Were you an "inocente" yesterday?
In Spain and other countries, December 28 is Día de los santos inocentes, similar to April Fools Day in the United States. And with so much of the motorcycle and racing world centered in Spain, some of that filters over into our interests. One of the most elaborate was a video from several years ago in which Marc Márquez appeared to do a backflip on a motocross bike.
I didn't see anything at that level this year, but I did see a few bromas trying to catch the unaware.
Maybe you were thinking that Suzuki's decision to pull out of MotoGP was final, but Álex Rins announced he has obtained a Suzuki GSX-RR that he will ride in the 2023 MotoGP season.
The Spanish magazine Motociclismo reported new details about the sprint races that will be a new part of the MotoGP schedule on Saturdays in 2023. To make the short races even more interesting, they'll include ramps the motorcycles have to jump as well as moving chicanes on the straights.
Rampas para saltos, chicanes móviles, puertas y más.

Triumph of Spain announced a new electric four-wheeler called the Speed Double.
The Spanish publication Motorbike Magazine reported that the European Union would not only prohibit the sale of gasoline-powered motorcycles after 2040 but was also imposing lower speed limits, restricting the use of motorcycles in the rain, and banning the use of sport bikes in the winter.
Don't believe everything you read. Especially in Spanish on December 28.
