Following up on this year's Gold Line special editions, Triumph is introducing 10 limited-edition Chrome models for 2023. Riders of a certain age — or younger ones who admire the aesthetics of an earlier era — will remember the chromed fuel tanks of some motorcycles in the 1960s. The flashy look was perfect for riders who wanted maximum shine and riders who loved to polish.
Triumph said its first chromed tank came much earlier, however, on the 1937 Speed Twin. In any case, here we are today, getting our first look at 2023 models, in a time when the traditional gas tank is becoming less prominent. In many cases, the "tank" is really just a cover over an airbox with fuel carried entirely or partially under the seat. With electric motorcycles, of course, there is no tank at all. In that setting, Triumph is putting the focus squarely back on the gas tank with its Chrome editions of 10 models.

The Chrome models are the same under the skin as the models they're based on. You're paying a premium of roughly $500 to $1,000, depending on the model, for the appearance and exclusivity of the chromed and painted tank, which Triumph does in house. Because of that, we're not going to dive into specs too much, since they haven't changed. Instead, this "first look" article is all about the photos (and there are some more in the gallery).

Rocket 3 R Chrome
Shiny chrome, yes, but no bright colors for the Rocket 3 R Chrome. Triumph photo.
Like the GT, the Rocket 3 R Chrome gets the Jet Black treatment to many of the body parts, but it also gets the same color accent on the chromed tank instead of the GT's red. MSRP is $24,300 in the United States and $28,400 in Canada. Triumph photo.
Bonneville T120 Chrome

Thruxton RS Chrome
The café racer Thruxton RS Chrome shows the most chrome of any of these new models, with the shine interrupted only by a Jet Black stripe. Triumph photo.
