- Look for leaks
- Check for loose hardware
- Look for signs of wear/interference
- Grease fittings and lubricate pivot points
- Check horn, lights and paperwork
Battery
- Check voltage—minimum 12.5V fully charged
- Check battery age—maximum 5 years
- Clean terminals and reapply dielectric grease
- Inspect/install battery maintainer lead
- Check fuses and stash some spares
Wheels
- Check tread depth—minimum 2/32”
- Check tire age—maximum 10 years
- Check tire condition for dry rot/cracks
- Inspect wheel bearings
- Replace Tires if needed
Final Drive
- Clean and lubricate chain
- Inspect chain/sprockets for wear
- Inspect belt/pulley for cracks or glazing
- Adjust belt/chain alignment & tension
Brakes
- Check remaining pad thickness
- Inspect rotors for scoring, glazing or warping
- Inspect brake line/hose condition
- Replace brake fluid if discolored or every 2 years
Fluids
- Replace coolant if discolored or every 2 years
- Check primary fluid (if applicable)
- Check transmission fluid (if applicable)
- Check final drive gear oil (if applicable)
- Change oil/filter at recommended interval
Filters
- Inspect air filter
- Inspect fuel filter
- Verify proper petcock operation (if applicable)
- Repack muffler (if applicable)
Controls
- Lubricate control cables
- Adjust cable free play
- Adjust/tighten mirrors
- Adjust/tighten shifter and brake pedal
Final Check
- Check critical fastener torque
- Check tire pressure
- Add fresh fuel
- Go ride!
