Most protection you can hope to get at retail price
People have ranging levels of comfort but in my opinion, protection comes first, then comfort. And while I'm not too excited with the price on these pants, I've done my research and have come to the conclusion that this is probably the most protection you can hope to get at retail price.

One thing I do want to point out is that it appears there is a lack in compatibility standard in this industry. A very specific example of this is that these pants have the zipper in the back as does the Phoenix Ion High-Viz Jacket that I currently own. They should both work together but zips to the left while the other zips to the right and so they can't. This industry needs to settle on some compatibility standards that demonstrate having their customer's best interest in mind and not just looking out for their competitors. It's not just about your customers looking at someone else's jacket to sew your zipper to; it may very well be that they already have the jacket and they're looking for pants from your product line to work with their jacket.

That said, my wife graciously volunteered to take out the factory zipper of my Phoenix Ion High-Viz jacket and attach the one that came with these pants. I decided to go this route and make the pants the base instead of the jacket because the jacket has a dedicated flap for attaching the zipper and you have room to make mistakes whereas the zipper on these pants would have to be professional altered (i.e. more $$$).

So, as I indicated, after doing much research, I finally settled on these because other pants in this price range (cheaper, that is) had the padding but not the abrasion resistance, or had the padding and abrasion resistance, but not the reflective piping or material for increased visibility; or any number of other permutations of features: this had them all.

1. Impact protection (knee pads and hip armor)
2. Abrasion resistance (600D throughout; others had 600D sparingly)
3. Reflective material (piping that points outwards while sitting)

I should also point out that the waist adjustment velcro straps do leave some room on the underside for you to feed a jacket's belt loop attachments. Combined with the modified zipper on the back of my jacket, the two have now become a "one-piece suit" and it's pretty secure.

Overall I'm satisfied with the product itself given it's affordability. If you need abrasion/impact protection now but won't be able to afford the leathers for quite some time, this is for you. I believe the price is going to speak to its overall quality and the pants themselves will give you a little more peace of mind over simply wearing jeans.

As over pants, my recommendation would be to go ahead and wear your jeans (or riding jeans) underneath them for some added layering. You can also put your leather wallet(s) in the pockets of these pants and zip the pocket closed for some added jury-rigged impact protection/padding there too :)

Great 3 Season Protection, Reasonable Price
I got these about a week ago - I had the unplanned opportunity of putting them to the test today. A cager turned left into me, causing my tank to get dented, shattered my windshield, and caused me to drop my bike. My knee impacted the car/street and it's a bit sore, so I imagine the damage without the knee pads would have been much worse. There's a small patch on the pants that melted from brushing past the header, but it's still intact.

A bit of a breakdown:
Fit: I'm 6', 145 lbs (I'm pretty lanky), I ordered a Medium Long. I was torn between that and a Small. It fits great lengthwise, but I can fit both my legs in one pant leg. Then again, it's an overpant so I'm not too worried about it.
Comfort: Very comfortable, kept me warm/dry when I tried them out in some light rain. I wouldn't recommend these for summertime since the vents just vent to the waterproof lining.
Protection: Comes with some cheesy hip pads, as well as knee protectors. The hip pads are literally craft foam, and might make laying down more comfy, but no real protection. They have the same shape more or less as the REV'IT! Tryonic Hip Protectors, so if you have money to burn, might be worth subbing those in. The hip pad pockets are pretty large too, so the pads float around a bit. The knee protectors are awesome since they have a hard shell lined with softer foam. They also have a bit of shin/lower knee protection. They held up great in the accident and I feel confident in them. I only wish I could buy an extra pair for my other pants! The knee protector pockets have tiered velcro pockets for height adjustment, and I set them so the protectors sit right below my knee when I'm standing (which translates into right on my knee while mounted).
Overall: A great pant, reasonable price.

Not as durable as first thought.
After 3 months of riding on average 3 days per week, the seam in the crotch just below the zipper is coming undone. They do keep you warm down to the low 30's. I wear a 34-34 pant and the 34 tall fit well. I didn't recommend due to the seam coming undone.

Nice and warm.
I have worn these pants on my 25 mile commute every time the temps drop below 60. They keep me toasty warm and no cold air gets through. The coldest I have ridden was in the low 40's and I was perfectly warm. They only have 2 small air vents and are way too warm if the temps are above 60. The knee and shin armor and hip pads give me a nice secure feeling (I hope I never need to test them) .

Well made true to size
Very comfortable, full lengnth zippers make it easy
to get the pants on and off .My only gripe is they do
not breathe very well and need more vents!! These will
be way too hot for summer day riding but will be great
the rest of the year below 70f..

Great pants for cooler weather
Great pair of overpants. The side zippers make them really easy to get on and off over boots, and the thigh vents do a pretty good job of keeping them cool in warm (though not hot) weather. With the vents closed they're plenty warm for fall riding (down to about40 degrees or so); now I'm wishing I had a warmer jacket and gloves to match them! As for sizing, you may want to buy one size up from your normal jeans. They have a pretty wide adjustment range so it's not hard to cinch them down to fit if they're a bit too big. Heat resistance is good, I know I've brushed my exhaust at least once but my pants still look brand new. Couldn't ask for a better overpant for the price, and RevZilla's free shipping was a huge plus!

Take review for what it is!
Being a new rider, please take my review for what it is, on my first pair of pants. I can give no bad scores because I like them.
I bought these protective motorcycle pants because A- they had a good review and B- came in a short inseam.
They have adjustable knee protection, hip pads and seem that they would do well in case of a mishap.
They are very adjustable for fit with adjustments at the ankle and waist being easy to manipulate. Using the sizing chart, they fit me very well. They are said to be an all weather pant. Just obtaining them, I have only ridden in cool to colder weather. They kept me warm with a air of basic sweat pants underneath for a 20 minute ride at about 40 degrees. I have not opened vents. I do not know if they will be cool enough in the summer. I am a non-limber man, but as these pants unzip the complete length of the outer leg, they are easy to get in and out of with motorcycle boots on.
They are heavy, and add bulk. But, I bought them for protection, and feel a sense of comfort wearing them I did not have when I just ride in jeans.
Not having needed (thank God) the protection aspect as of yet, I do not now how well they will perform. And as for durability for such stuff as zippers and stitching etc., time will tell.
I would recommend them.

Great Overpants
Being that I have a 30" inseam in jeans and other pants, I ordered the short length but they ended being a bit too short. As always, returning them to RevZilla was a breeze and I reordered the standard length which turned out to be perfect.

The pants fit well and are not too baggy which has been an issue with other overpants that I have tried. The fit, finish, and quality of the material and fasteners are all top-notch. I rode through a heavy downpour today and, even with the vents open, stayed dry. The armor on the knees and hips are well placed and don't feel too bulky. The only downside I can find is that these pants are a bit warm in the Texas heat but I'm sure this will be a welcome feature once winter rolls around. They zip up perfectly to my Tour Master jacket.

Overall, Tour Master has made another great product and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

Great looking, great fitting, sturdy, overpants that keep your legs nice and warm in cold weather. I've ridden with these on in low 30 degree weather and they kept me warm! I would say that they are too warm for summer riding, though, even with the vents open. They also include good knee and hip protection and hip pockets that are perfect for holding keys and cash. I especially like the side zippers on the legs that let you put them on and take them off without needing to remove your boots.

I had an old pair of tourmaster overpants bought in 2000. They worked great, I am near San Francisco, and the old pants were never too hot nor too cold, i could be comfortable in 34 and 90 degree temps. Only slight negative was they were not waterproof but that was not really an issue. So, looking for the similar pants, these seemed to be closest, basically looking for something to fit over pants as I commute to work

Is the waterproof liner removable to increase air flow in the hotter months?
Deevy B on Jan 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. It is sewn into the over pants
Are these black or a dark grey?
Vishan P on Sep 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the picture is terrible, the pants are black.
I bought them because they come in a long, and I think they are great.
I bought these almost a year ago and ride year-round in the Pacific Northwest. They're waterproof everywhere except somewhere in the crotch unfortunately. I was thinking about buying some kind of Goretex patch kit or seam sealer but wasn't sure if the shell is waterproof or is it the inner liner that provides the waterproofing?
Jason J on Nov 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I cannot answer this question but I can pile on.
I too wear these pants in the northwest and the exact same thing happens to me.
The pant material is great.
I suspect that the seams are not sealed.
And when sitting in the saddle a small puddle forms which eventually seeps in through the seams.
I plan to use a spray water proofing in the crotch to try and stop the crotch seepage.
Other than that the pants are great.
New rider. I bought the Medium short and they fit me perfect standing. When on bike they ride a good 3-5 inches. Are you supposed to buy a little longer inseam with riding pants?
Anthony R on Oct 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Hey Anthony,

I got the medium regular. I am 5'9" 170lb with a healthy but not jacked build. my inseam is 31.

I also find that the pants ride up a bit when you sit down, particularly in a standard or aggressive riding position. The more aggressive, the more the pants will ride up an inch or two.

I would recommend going with the standard length, perhaps slightly longer than recommended by the size chart. Waist size is spot on.

When I ride I usually give the pants a slight downward tug, but dont always have to. I usually also ride with jeans.

Hope this helps. Love the pants once I got sizing right. I Ordered a small at first.
Do these have a heat-resistant material on inner calf where legs might touch the exhaust pipes?
Peter L on Oct 31, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There is a panel that extends from the knee down, but it appears to be for increased abrasion durability- not for heat resistance ( it is no thicker than the rest of the pant). I don't have an issue with hot engine parts, and am enjoying these pants. Just make sure you allow for enough length, as they need to be longer than your street pants inseam. Hope this helps.
Will these pants zip up to a Cortech GX Sport Air jacket?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have the Tour Master pants, and my wife has a Cortech LRX 3.0 textile jacket. The two zip together perfectly, so if the whole Cortech line has the same zipper, you're set.
How do you wash these?
Onson L on Oct 5, 2016

Sorry, but I have not washed these overpants yet. I have only wore them a few times. I will say for the cost vs performance I like them. When I do wash them I am using Woolite cold water and remove all the pads.

My inseam is 28in and waist of 36in. I am thinking of ordering these pants in the LRG Short size. A lot of the reviews seem to suggest that these pants run a little shorter than the size chart. I am wondering if these pants will still be too long for me. It is always hard finding pants that fit well since I have a thick build but very short legs. Anyone else with height problems find these still too long?
Edwin S on Jun 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My inseam is 30". My waist is 34". I tried 3 pairs and kept the Med Reg. The Med waist will fit a 36 waist easy, when I sit on the bike the length covers the top of my boots. So a med short should fit fine. Remember these are over pants, so they are baggy.
Will the material melt on muffler? A few comments said leg is big.
A shopper on Apr 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I never tried to accomplish that feat.

In a seated position, I never feared that they would touch the exhaust. For me the short inseam is perfect.
