Quality materials, sharp-looking shoe, one missing ingredient
These just arrived yesterday so I only have two rides to judge them by. I can't speak for durability, of course.

The materials - the leather and interior construction- are very good quality. They feel more like $300 shoes than I was expecting. They're not too bulky. In fact, they look much more narrow than they feel. The purpose is to have a cool looking sneaker that also provides solid protection and TCX has delivered.

They have a tall sole so, while they make you feel taller when standing, they make the foot pegs feel higher up when on the bike. It creates a little more of a cramped leg position.

There is a major missing ingredient, though and I'm surprised TCX left this out. There is no reinforced shifter protection! No extra layer of leather. The shifter hits at the thinnest part of the shoe so it feels like you're shifting with your foot. Also, the shoe is invariably going to wear out at that point. That's a big bummer.

Great Moto Shoe Overall. For the price, some things left to be desired.
I received my order today! I got number 0277! I guess I'm the first to admit I spent over $300 for a sneaker. :\ Anthony could sell ice to Eskimos.
As a former "sneaker head" the limited nature, protection suite, and style of this shoe made me salivate.

MOTO--as a riding "shoe", designers can never win. If its too much like a shoe, it gets dinged for not being enough "boot". Too much like a boot, and it gets dinged for not being "sneaker" enough. I have, personally, always wanted a riding boot that just looked like a shoe. I've walked/ran/jumped/and even swam all day in Red Wings, Combat Boots, BoonDockers, (actual) Jordans, flip flops, and dress shoes. All that really matters is when you're on the bike. And these provide the protection suite to provide peace of mind when riding without looking like an armor plated Squid.

This pair is to replace my StyleMartin Chester shoes. I liked those shoes fine and would've just ordered another pair, but for just a little bit more money, I felt I had to give these a go. I haven't tested the 'waterproofedness' (I'm convinced Anthony has made up several now commonly used words), but its GoreTex....so there's that. The ankle armor seems more encompassing and stronger than those on my StyleMartin's, as well as the toe and heel reinforcements.

The sole is rather stiff, but that's what you want with a riding shoe/boot. I replaced (I do this with all my shoes) the flimsy insoles with better quality Spenco (green) insoles. The insoles make up for the stiffer sole and help cushioning for walking. There aren't any vent holes, so I don't imagine these will vent very well. A strip of 'reflectivity' (again a made up word?) would've also been great. In addition to reflective 3M laces, I also used anthracite colored (glows white) rim tape on the heel counters to give the needed "pop". However, I noticed when in the riding position the reflective tape is aimed upwards. For truly efficient 'reflectivity', the tape or reflector would have to be on the bottom on the heels, itself--at least in a sporty riding position with rear-sets.

SHOE--for a $300 shoe, I would've liked to see better details. Details such as metal eyelet grommets for the laces. Better laces for that matter. These came with off-white, slightly dingy looking laces which were almost 10" too long. In a shoe, especially a moto-shoe, who needs laces long enough to trip on? I will replace them with shorter, reflective, 3M laces ASAP. The bridge on the tongue could've been better placed as well. It is about two eyelets too high to really keep the tongue in place. The soles and glue seem well done and provide adequate traction and support. The ankle support is also well done, helping in preventing your ankles to roll laterally. The padded slit down the back for the Achilles tendon is well placed and allows your foot to point forward, naturally without hindrance. The individual serial number tag is a bit bleh, too. Its just a piece of leather that is on the laces. For all the limited edition bravado, I would've liked to see the shoe, itself, stamped with a number or at least a metal serial tag.

FIT--while not overly narrow, they are more narrow than "American" shoes. I wear a consistent size 9 in Nike and Jordans. I got these in a Euro Size 43. With the new insoles i put in the length is now fine. Perhaps 1/4" too long. Better than too short, I'd say. The with is maybe also 1/4" more narrow than my regular shoes. Not a big problem, I don't have Hobbit feet. I put "slightly large" because it was slightly long, heel to toe.

IN THE BOX--The shoes came with a nice large box. Shoes were in an even nicer bag, similar to what Arai helmets come in. There was a large packet of reading material on the constriction materials and features. Also, which was a nice surprise, it came with an elactacized shift panel for your left foot. I tried it on and fits well. It just feels weird because you lose traction on that foot around the ball of your foot. It also seems like it would eventually start slipping off. Maybe they should've just added a beefier (asymmetrical) shift panel on the left foot and triple stitched it?

OVERALL--its a great riding shoe but should've been about $100 less expensive for what you really get. That said, I'm keeping mine. :)
