Sena 20 S EVO Bluetooth Headset Dual Pack

The 20S EVO Motorcycle Bluetooth Communication System represents a level of refinement from the proven market leader, the Sena 20S. An integrated shark fin antenna strengthens the signal within the specified 1.2 mile range to enhance intercom stability.

Stay in contact by calling hands-free on your Bluetooth phone, rock out to your favorite riding jams in stereo or listen to voice instructions of GPS navigators by Bluetooth wirelessly, all the while having conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other riders.

The 20S EVO is a state-of-the-art motorcycle and powersports Bluetooth communication system. The unit provides a sleek and aerodynamic design that offers a versatile jog dial that maximizes the ease of use for riders.

The Sena 20S EVO features several industry firsts for the motorcycle Bluetooth communication headset market. Bluetooth 4.1 technology with dual Bluetooth communication modules increases the performance and reliability of the headset while also allowing for increased high definition audio quality. The advanced Audio Multitasking allows for a seamless blend of incoming and outgoing audio to create a mixed audio experience versus the traditional interruption based audio technology of other Bluetooth devices. The audio multitasking function creates the most close-to-natural audio sound while running multiple audio functions simultaneously and intelligently.

With the 20S EVO, users can call handsfree with their Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions of GPS navigation by Bluetooth wirelessly, and have intercom conversations in full duplex with a passenger or other riders.

Improvements over the 20S:

When the 20S was introduced, it was immediately recognized as the absolute best within the Bluetooth communication marketplace. It was extremely difficult to find faults, but Sena did recognize some areas to improve upon. The main new feature of the 20S EVO is the more powerful integrated antenna. It maintains the same 1.2 mile range as the 20S, but the signal is strengthened for even better clarity and less interference. This fixed-position, always-up antenna in addition to a revised microphone connection allows the 20S EVO to reset the bar on enhanced audio clarity.

Great improvement over SRC
Riding buddy and I both had Schuberth helmets with the integrated SRC from Cardo/Schuberth. For phone and music, these worked fine, but intercom range and reliability was very poor.

We decided to save a little money an purchase the S20 Evo dual pack. The other advantage of the dual pack was that they come pre-paired for intercom

So far, these have worked flawlessly. While the 1.2 mile range seems optimistic, we had no issues keeping in contact in the HD intercom mode (reduced range) for as far away as we could see each other (probably .75 mile). Further, at interstate speeds with visors up, we could still hear and be heard clearly. Sound volume is adequate and sound quality is very good.

I paired the S20 Evo with my Samsung S8 and Tomtom Rider 400 and, unlike with my SRC, the S20 Evo, GPS, and phone played nicely together. Music through the phone, GPS announcements, and intercom worked simultaneously and with the right sound priority. With multiple sources, I occasionally had to increase the music volume, but otherwise no issues.

The Sena app for Android works well. My friend's Iphone app worked, but when he tried to change settings during one of our rides, he had issues with it connecting to the Sena.

I liked the integrated install of the SRC in my S3 Pro, but the buttons were never easy to "find" with gloves and the delay in finding a button was disconcerting, especially when off road. Moving from the flush buttons of the SRC to the job dial/button set up of the 20S Evo is definitely a step forward in ease of use, though the external mount isn't as sleek.

Install in the Schuberth S3 or S3 Pro requires making a decision between adhesive surface mount or clamp mount. Sena has videos for doing the surface mount (for the original S20) and the video clearly shows the compromise of using the clamp mount. My buddy and I chose the clamp mount and we are happy with the outcome even though the helmet collar does not fit fully flush.

Good investment if you ride with others
I had to modify my helmet cushion a bit more than I would have liked but nothing too awful or that would compromise the safety of my helmet. (full face, HJC-IS Maxx II).

There are so many different button combinations for the different commands you can do it can be hard to remember on the fly unless you have a great memory.

So I use the GPS on my phone and when I first got it I was keeping my phone in my pocket and it seemed it wasn't a great bluetooth connection (sounds quailty wasn't great and would just stop working all together), when I finally got a bike mount the sound quality was immensely improved. Also I highly recommend changing the settings (via the app on your phone) so that the gps comes through clearly when you're connected to another person over the intercom.

It works great for group intercoms (the connect in daisy chains so if person A and person B are connected and B is also connect to C... A and C can also hear each other through B)

Overall, once I got all the settings figured out, its well worth the money to me to be able to listen to music, have my gps talking to me AND be able to talk to my buddies all at the same time. Oh and of course be able to answer calls without having to pull over.

Good when it works
My girlfriend and I have had this pair for about 6 months now and from the beginning there have been issues with the headsets. My headset stopped dimming the music out when people talk during our first ride and even after resetting it, it has never gone back to working. For functionality, it really doesn't seem to have the range claimed because after about 100 yards you can't hear the other person.

My main problem is that recently we have been having to turn our headsets off and on mid ride just to re-establish the intercom. It is annoying because we had to do it every 15 minutes on our ride this weekend.

Overall, it is a good headset when it wants to work. If you don't use intercom with it, it works perfectly every time. The audio multitasking works well for GPS and phone music and the battery life is great. Just wish the intercom would work consistently.

Great headset for two people
If you have more than two headsets paired, you get a very annoying interference sound like popcorn popping in a tin popper. After looking into it, this has been a problem for a couple of years. With that said; RevZilla was easy to work with and friendly staff. I will be ordering more items in the future.

I purchased these to replace my 20S and my husband's 10. Took them on a group ride this weekend where we were the lead and sweep. First time we connected, only one person could hear the other so we rebooted and made sure they were clipped in tightly. We got connected but they would not stay connected past 200 feet in line of sight. Yes, I said 200 feet was the tiny bit of range we got. Past that they would cut out and loose connection. Sena has got to do better than that! These are supposed to have a 1.2 mile range. The 20S and the 10 works much better than this POS! Save your money and either get the 20s or wait until they resolve all the issues with this one. We also had a ton of other issues with them but want to keep this short and simple.

Faulty Product--No Fix So Far
My Sena 20S fails to charge. No red light. Nothing works. Two different cables, two different USB sources. After about 3 hours of my time and a dozen emails with Sena, I still have no idea how to get this thing working again. They have just not been responsive to may problem.

My buddy and I bought a pair for around $500. This may be the last time I buy anything from Sena.

Will it fit a Schubert C3 Pro Woman helmet?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I mounted the S20 Evo on a men's S3 Pro and my riding buddy mounted his on an original S3. Though smaller, I don't see any significant design difference (from the Schuberth site) between the women's and men's versions of this helmet other than size. There is a Youtube video from Sena showing the mounting of the original 20S on an S3 Pro and the 20S Evo is consistent with it. You have a choice to make regarding using the surface adhesive mount or the clamp style mount. I and my riding buddy chose the clamp mount and have had no issues. I would think that one of these two mount choices would work. Hope this helps.

Will these clamp to the shark skwal helmets?
Bill D on Apr 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From the images I found on Google it looks like it would be no problem but it comes with a bracket with two screws you can tighten against the helmet and a bracket with 3M double sided foam tape
I see a review on this site that says the EVO has the same problem as the first 20S regarding the popcorn noise with more than 2 intercoms connected. Is this still the case with the EVO? I have (4) 20S intercoms, but thought about upgrading to fix this problem. I don’t want to go to the 30K because the music cuts doown when anyone talks (or wind noise), so you can’t really listen to music well with the mesh network.

Will they mount/work w half helmets or no helmet?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They would mount to a half helmet and you would use the boom mic, as for no helmet, I would say no since there would be nothing to mount to.
Will this pair of headsets talk to each other for the advertised distance of up to 2k or is this just a rider/passenger pair that cant talk "bike to bike"?
A C on Aug 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: So its actually interesting how it works. Say A and B are connected, in my experience the distance we can talk is not 2k realistically, the second one person makes it through a light and the other doesn't throwing a few cars in between you'll either lose the connection or the sounds quality suffers.

Throw in once more person, lets say Person A is connected to B and person B is connected to C. Well person B actually extends the distance person A and C can chat by being a middle man. Pretty slick actually because person A can be pretty far away from C as long as B is in the middle :D
