Puig Pro Frame Sliders Yamaha FZ-09 / FJ-09 / XSR900 Videos

Puig Pro Frame Sliders Yamaha FZ-09 / FJ-09 / XSR900

Puig Pro Frame Sliders feature a massive 130mm x 58mm Nylon puck. Each puck mounts via a billet aluminum bracket which requires no bodywork modification. To keep things clean, an end cap with the "PRO Puig" logo covers the mounting bolt on each puck.

Puig not only designed these frame sliders to protect the motorcycle, but the rider too. All pucks feature a rubber bumper on the back facing pointed end to avoid knee and shin injuries from impact in the event of a crash.

Features:

  • No bodywork modification required
  • Protects engine and frame
  • All sliders include grey rubber bumper
  • Rubber bumpers available in other colors (sold separately)

Fit and finish lacking
I chose the more expensive, anglular design of these sliders over the traditional circular puck design solely for aesthetic purposes. I ride a naked bike and so anything added to the frame is obvious and doesn't blend into the fairing as on my previous bike. After installing the sliders, I noticed one of the four bolts that replaces the stock engine mount bolts looked out of place. Indeed, 3 of the bolts are smooth and shiny and look like the rest of the annodized hardware on my bike. 1 bolt has serrations along the head, is dull, and looks like the galvanized hardware used on a deck. Now I'm probably the only one who is going to notice this difference in bolt appearance, but after paying top dollar for sliders, I expect the fit and finish to be perfect. According to Puig, this is how the kit is designed, despite all 4 engine mount bolts being exacly the same specifications, and same in appearance from the factory. Puig wouldn't provide a matching bolt so now I'm left finding/buying matching mounting hardware on my own.

To be fair. This product looks solid and I think it will hold up well in the event it ever has to perform its intended function. But for the above reasons and lack of support from Puig I don't recommend this product.

Fits 5017 FZ-09
Just installed these on my 2017 FZ-09 in case anyone is wondering if they'll fit. I was quite sure they would because the frame didn't change from 2016 to 2017. Easy install. Perhaps Revzilla can update the page so it'll show up when looking for stuff that fits 2017 models.

Great look and solid design.
You get what you pay for, these sliders went on with ease and are built like a rock. I feel a lot more confident on my bike now that I have these installed, everything went on just like the directions say and they look great too!

Pay attention to how it comes to you.
This is exactly what I thought it would be. I like it better than the SW-Motech sliders because they stick out further, but that is a matter of personal choice. So I can put my feet on them on longer rides, not sure if you can do that on the SW-Motech ones. Pay attention to how they come in the box because the bolts and spacers ARE NOT THE SAME. If you don't pay attention (like I didn't) the diagram and instructions will save you. If you're looking for what to torque the bolts it's 33 foot pounds.

They blend in so well that most people don't notice them
They blend in so well that most people don't notice them. They fit well and were easy to install, even with instructions in French! Takes about 15 minutes out of your day. I also like how the grey part that extends back towards the rider has a raised edge that grips the bottom of your boot so you can use them as a highway peg if you choose.

This slider is pretty high end.
I like how the bracket allow the load to be distributed along two points, which puts less stress on the frame. My set arrived with a scratch on the bracket, so I had to touch it up with some satin finish black paint. For the price, they should have caught that flaw.
