Puig Pro Frame Sliders Kawasaki Versys 1000 / Z1000

Puig Pro Frame Sliders feature a massive 130mm x 58mm Nylon puck. Each puck mounts via a billet aluminum bracket which requires no bodywork modification. To keep things clean, an end cap with the "PRO Puig" logo covers the mounting bolt on each puck.

Puig not only designed these frame sliders to protect the motorcycle, but the rider too. All pucks feature a rubber bumper on the back facing pointed end to avoid knee and shin injuries from impact in the event of a crash.

Features:

  • No bodywork modification required
  • Protects engine and frame
  • All sliders include grey rubber bumper
  • Rubber bumpers available in other colors (sold separately)

2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 LT
Installation requires replacement of the two lower engine bracket bolts with 8mm allen head bolts provided. Since it's an engine-to-frame mount bolt, be prepared to torque the replacement allen bolt to 45NM or 33ft/lb, per the Service Manual and use thread lock. Right side clutch cable needs to be routed over the top of the slider frame bracket. Clutch operates fine. Otherwise, installation is simple and required no fairing or other part removal. The slider extends 5-1/2 inches from the frame into which it mounts; for reference, that's just about to the outward tips of the stock signal lights. My positive assessment of performance relates to a prior experience with the Pro Frame Sliders on a 2012 Versys 650. A parking lot tip resulted in no fiber shell damage although the brake lever was replaced. The 2015 Versys has wrap hand guards of course. Placement of the slider including the projected length would seem to provide similar coverage on the front shell. Visually, I find the Puig Pro Frame Slide unobtrusive compared to many other slider options, including the Puig R12 Crash Pads. I would recommend the Puig Pro Frame Sliders.

Easy to go on, seems to fit the bill
Took 10 minutes to install. Looks good (fits the bike's aesthetic). Haven't dropped the bike yet so can't speak to performance, but seems like it should keep all the front fairings and engine safe in a long side or drop situation.

In case you are wondering, they do not come out far enough to act as a foot rest.

Looks like it would hold up
Seems like these are well built and would hold up on a low side crash.
