Fitment Notes & Exceptions

This is a universal fit part; it may or may not fit without modification.

  • Does NOT fit fly-by-wire throttle Harley Davidson models
  • Does NOT fit the Kawasaki VN900 (Vulcan) for model years 2005 onwards as the stock throttle tube diameter is too small
  • Does NOT fit Victory motorcycles due to their stock integral throttle tube/throttle combination
  • Oxford recommends wiring directly to the battery and not through a relay
    • Not doing so may result in failure of the controller

Grips Work Great and Are Easy to Install
I bought these grips to install on my Triumph Bonneville T100. The other varieties of the Bonneville have 7/8" bars, but the T100 has 1". I had only found the model for 1" grips that had the simple chrome knob controller at first, until I finally went online to order and I saw this model with the "intelligent" controller, which the models for 7/8" bars have and I prefer. I was happy they are now available in 1".

Installing the grips, and especially the wiring, couldn't have been easier. The only problem I had was that the throttle tube with this set has a raised portion near where the cables attach. It will not work with the Bonneville switch housing. It will not allowing it to rotate freely. Instead, I used the stock tube with some minor modifications. This worked fine.

The intelligent controller is nice because it has an auto-shutoff feature so I did not have to wire into the ignition circuit (which already has a bunch of stuff wired in). I just used the ring terminal ends directly to the battery. There was plenty of wiring length on all components to accommodate almost any bike.

This set would get 5 Stars if it had a throttle tube that worked on the Bonnie and if it had a different grip pattern. I would have preferred a standard checkered kind of grip instead of the flames this set had. I know flames are all the rage on big cruisers but not my first choice.

I tested the grips riding through the night to the Barber Vintage Festival last week. I thought it would not get too cold so was wearing my perforated leather gloves. I left at one in the morning and by three I turned the grips on. They saved the day and kept my fingers warm. They would work even better with hand guards. These grips I am sure will let me ride in lower temps for longer times and the $100 or so for them was well worth it.

I did a blog entry on installing these on the T100 at www.roaddogpub.com (Click on Road Dog Blog for the entries) if anyone would like more info.

BEST for your bucks....
Make sure you measure your handle bar diameter correctly....especially the throttle side. I installed the Oxford Cruiser premium grips on my Liner in about 1 hour. Great fit, nice feel to the grips, they get warm very fast. I had to make my own custom mount for the heat control...not a problem though. Come on COLD weather!!!! Can't wait to try them out...

Clean look, overall great quality, easy installation, good price
I installed the premium cruiser heated grips on my 1998 Honda Shadow VT1100C. The installation was fairly straight forward and the quality of the wiring appears great. The installation looks like the grips are a factory option which I really like. It would be nice if the heat controller unit was a little smaller. I also was not a fan of the "super glue" grip glue that they supply and require you to use in order for their warranty to be valid. Make sure you blanket off your bike very well because any excess runs out the end of the grip as you are trying to get them onto the bars. You don't want super glue getting on anything with paint. Ask me how I know. If that does happen use goof off and it likely won't do any further damage. Overall, a nice grip compared to what is out there for a lot less money.

Pretty Great
I had aftermarket heated grips installed on a ZX-14 I used to own, so I've got that to compare with. Those were a little thinner in diameter but still ticker than the stock Ninja grips. These Heaterz are pretty thick, but now I'm on a 2006 Stratoliner. The thickness is fine. Installation was fine enough after I went to a salvage yard to pull a throttle tube off an old V-Star. (This is because I did not have stock Yamaha grips to begin with.) The little screws for the control unit don't screw in all the way. Fortunately, it's in there good enough and there is no rattling sound. I wish that the wires that come out of the grips would somehow not turn when you twist the throttle. It doesn't get in the way since I accounted for it when installing the grips, but you could potentially mess that up when you glue them to the throttle tube. For those two things, I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, the grips work great and were a really good value. I'd buy them again for sure.

Toasty!!!!!
Pros:
+ Everything you need right in the box
+ They get very-very warm, can adjust with controller
+ Stylish on every bike
+ I think they a fair priced. It would have cost the same to replace my grips with OEM pieces!

Cons
- I feel they are on the large size (diameter). They are much larger then my OEM grips and the grips I had on before.
- You do have to reuse your OEM throttle slider. Not a problem if you still have it.
- Their tech support contact form didn't work when I needed help!

Hot hands, great price, easy to install
I looked into getting dealer to install heated grips on my 04 Shadow, quotes from $250-$400. After reading reviews on line I felt I could take this on myself for under $100. Installation was simple. I'm handy but by no means am I a guy who is wrenching on his bike all the time. I was able to complete in under 2 hours. Most of my time was spent experimenting the best way to run my wires. Functionality is very good. Rode the other morning in 29 degrees hands felt great.

Not the perfect solution, but as close as you can get for the price
Super easy to install. Definitely get hot fast. The only time I've gone over 50% was on a morning ride at 80mph with the temp below 35F. And even then the palms were sweaty. Without a wind deflector, or heat on the top of your hands, you're still going to get cold, but these do a great job for chilly mornings that turn into warmer afternoons.

good product for a good price
I installed these grips on my wifes Honda shadow phantom, and have been good so far. I would advise to use a different glue from what they send, I used gorilla super glue. Oxfords glue is really runny whereas the gorilla isn't. Be sure to dry fit the position of the grips so the wires won't interfere with any other functions

Good product but ......
Bought this kit to install on the 1" bars on my Bonneville T100. Installation is not too bad, and the system works good.
My only issue is that these grips are very thick. Did I say say they are thick?
Like I know all the cruiser guys are big hairy chested brutes with gorilla hands. But in my average size hands, these feel like I'm holding onto beer cans. So any precise throttle control, braking action in the corners is pretty iffy.
So Oxford, please, please, make a 1" size grip that has a more normal size, thank you.

I have installed heated grips on every bike. I ride all year long. Nothing like the flick of a switch to get extra heat to your hands when you are out on a cold day. I'm new to the Oxford brand but research and reviews look positive.

I had these on a different bike. They worked great! Loved them.

I had Oxford heated grips on my CBR - they make a huge difference in comfort and the ability to operate controls effectively. Nothing worse than frozen fingers while riding. Also I like the super easy installation (straight to battery, that's it) and auto-off / battery protection features. I'll never be without these grips on any bike.

my 2013 hd 48 in not a throttle by wire set up so it will work with my throttle cable set up. Friend has them and recommended them and hd charges over $250 for their heated grips, YIKES!

These grips are awesome! The wiring is very robust and looks like factory equipment installed on my 1998 Honda Shadow VT1100C. They are nice and thick and the rubber is good quality. They look excellent and you can hardly notice that they are not the factory grip. The heat controller is a little large for my liking but overall an excellent product at a great value. Very easy installation and not messy wiring splices is another reason I bought them.

BEST ANSWER: Make sure YOU measure the diameter of the handle bars, especially the throttle side.. Then order the proper fitting grips... I installed mine in less than a 1/2 hour. They really get HOT fast..... Just can't wait to go for a ride when it's really cold out...lol
Do I have to glue the clutch side grip?
Cameron C on Jan 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I didn't because it felt firm when I put them on. Lateron down the road with the heat on, they loosened up and moved. I will be gluing them when I get the chance.
Does this fit a 2006 Triumph America with 1" handlebars?
A C on Apr 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It fit my 2006 Triumph Bonneville with 1" bars, but I did have to do some modification to the throttle tube to allow it to slip on. A sharp wood chisel worked great to remove the fins that were sticking out of the throttle tube.
