Klim Krios Helmet

Vanquishing the notion that an Adventure helmet must be a compromise falling short in performance of designated off-road and street-specific helmets, Klim has broken new ground with the Klim Krios Helmet and demanded that no concessions be made in either department. High Performance Carbon-Fiber construction makes the Klim Krios Adventure Helmet one of the lightest weight adventure helmets ever created, while both ECE and DOT standards testify that Klim has not sacrificed strength of the shell or safety to do so. The Klimatek Fabric liner system and aerodynamically superior design combine to create an acoustically peaceful riding experience. Four different riding configurations can be achieved quickly and without the use of tools, making the Klim Krios Adventure Helmet the most versatile, technologically advanced ADV helmet ever.

Features:

  • Includes Pinlock-ready clear face shield, Pinlock-ready dark smoke face shield and 1 Pinlock insert
  • Hand-laid full-carbon shell features a wide carbon weave
  • Aerodynamic visor and spoiler attributes to stabilize and put riders’ heads at ease
  • Klimatek Fabric liner systems utilize adaptive smart foam technology and anti-microbial/bacterial fast-wicking textiles
  • Quick release shield and visor system requiring only a simple, 90 degree quarter-turn to lock/unlock
  • Intelligent ventilation system ensures riders will keep their cool when the terrain heats up
  • Airflow through the chin bar vent and a close-able top vent make it comfortable from slow-to-go
  • Includes chin curtain
  • Quickly transition from Street to Off-Road or to any of four riding modes quickly and without tools
  • Klim Radius Goggle compatible
  • Pinlock-ready Polycarbonate anti-scratch face shield
  • 2 shell sizes: SM-MD, LG-3XL
  • Meets or exceeds ECE and DOT standards
  • Available online only, not available in stores

Love my Krios
I have to say, really appreciate Revzilla video reviews and constantly view them when shopping for new gear...that said there is some info in the video that is inaccurate or not addressed..

I just got the Krios in Matte White and love it. I have yet to ride in it, but wanted to point out a few things that may help others in their decision whether to buy.

First, fit: This fits true to size. It fits the same as the Klim F4. I'm an intermediate oval Med helmet size in Bell, AGV, Shoei, Arai and Klim. The Krios Med fits perfectly. If anything, it is a little snug, but comfortably snug and will loosen up a little as the padding settles in.

Second, I didn't see them mention that the shield is indexed very well. The indexing is very solid and noticeable. The bottom most index is perfect to "crack" the shield to provide additional venting.

Third, Revzilla calls the chin vent a vent to no where...the vent goes in and up right onto the inside of the shield to keep fog down. I'm optimistic about this vent, because fog is an issue, especially offroad.

Also, I wear RX glasses; which fit comfortably in this helmet just as they do in my F4.

My nitpicks are, I wish it were SNELL like my F4. The F4 came in a nice helmet back with spare visor. The Krios comes with a helmet sock and a tinted lens. For the price point, I was suprised this helmet didn't come with a helmet bag.

Overall, I'm stoked on this helmet and look forward to racking up the miles in it. I was deciding between the Krios, Shoei Hornet and Arai XD4. I choose Klim primarily based on:
- I am really happy with all of my Klim gear (quality and function), especially my F4 helmet
- fit and comfort
- I like the weight of this helmet
- I like the large tab on the shield to ease to find w/ gloves on
- has the features I was looking for
- I prefer the style

The best ADV helmet on the market!
I picked this helmet up a few months ago and have ridden down to La Paz, Mexico and all over the Southwest in this helmet. I can honestly say its the best ADV helmet I have tried (I have owned a lot of helmets including the Arai XD and Nexx XD1). It's very quiet with great wind flow and I like the lining which is very comfortable. My only dislike is the venting which I can't close (am i missing something?)
I have a bunch of pictures of the helmet on my Instagram feed: ianrowsby.advrider

The helmet is very light, easy to change the visor and to remove the peak. Very comfortable especially if you wear glasses.

This helmet is as round as a bubble, as light as one too.
This is the lightest dual sport helmet that I have ever wore. But it is extremely round with heavy pressure points in the front and back.

Others may not experience this because I had an XXL so there was very little padding. Since it is the same shell that they use for other sizes, the other sizes may have padding that makes this helmet feel oval but the shell and foam structure is definitely round as can be.

Only Two Shell Sizes Makes Fit a Compromise
Measuring 58cm even I ordered a Large (58-59cm) and it was waay too loose. I really wanted to like this helmet, but it would swivel excessively -all around my head- even when I cranked the chin strap down. So much so, I had to return it for it would have been unsafe in a crash. It's really too bad because the helmet seems such a great value ($550 includes TWO visors AND a pinlock!

I had already tried on both sizes in a store, the Medium was so tight I didn't even put in on all the way for fear of ripping my ears off. I realize I am comparing it to my old ARAI Corsair V (medium, 57-58cm) that fits me snuggly, but that KLIM Krios would have loosened even further over time rendering the helmet utterly useless to me. When a manufacturer chooses to go the cheap route and use just two shell sizes to span the entire size range, that's what you get when you're on either end of the spectrum. That's a BIG MISS by KLIM if you ask me. Too bad, I really wanted to try it!

I even double checked the cheek pads to be sure the factory had installed the thickest ones (25mm). No other (thicker) options were listed as available.

is the visor replacable, and are they available?
A shopper on Sep 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's replaceable without tools (thumbscrews, also comes with two replacement thumbscrews). The helmet comes with a Clear and Tinted (black) Visor and 1 Pinlock Anti-Fog.
Does this helmet have a transition face shield that gets darker in the sunlight?
