Unique and useful rack design, poor instructions
I'll get right to the good. I'm trying to keep added weight and bulk to a minimum on my Africa Twin. The ability to quickly and easily install and remove most of this rack is a great feature. Half turn fittings make this possible. So I can run the rack for long rides requiring luggage or in about 2 minutes, remove about 80% of it for playing in the dirt.

The bad part was the instructions. You can figure out how to get the thing installed, but the instructions are of minimal help. It's several pages of hazy photos with virtually no written directions.

A word of caution... They tell you to install the mount bar under the inner fender, and then tell you to remove the OEM rack assembly to install the mounts for moving the turn signals rearward. This means you have to take the mount bar off again. Silly. And BTW, if you'll be using these for soft bags (I am) rather than the Givi boxes, you probably can skip the part for moving the signals back anyway.

Easy to take on and off
90% of the time I use a top box only, so I wanted a rack that could be installed and taken off easily. But, it has to also be sturdy when I load up the panniers, too. The PLR1144 fits the bill for this perfectly. Install was straightforward and took less than 30 min. Instructions are pictures only, so it takes a few minutes to figure it out. The fit was very good, no need to force it to fit together. I used the 30L Givi Trekker Dolomiti boxes, so I didn't need to use the adapters that move the rear blinkers back for additional clearance. Wish I knew that before I took apart the entire seat and grab handle setup. . . If you're mostly offroad with panniers fully loaded or don't ever take off the panniers, I'd probably go with rack that's permanently installed. This rack let's you keep the clean look of the bike when you don't have the panniers on.

Overall, I'm happy with the setup. Revzilla had it on my doorstep a few days after ordering, even if it had to travel by ground.

Africa twin rear pannier racks
It was an easy install and the seam to be well put together but for actual off road adventure touring they appear to be a little light I would choose something differnt if you are a hardcore off road person If yourcstyle of riding is pavement and some gravel forrestry roads they would be good value. My Africatwin has not had a dirt nap since they have been installed so my thoughts on strength have not been tested. I am using soft bags so the rear tail light relocation was not required.
