Bassani Road Rage B1 Exhaust System For Harley VROD

The B1. This is the grand-daddy of 'em all. Big pipes designed to move lots of gas out of big motors. If you are not sure if you need this system, you probably don't. That's in no way a statement of judgment. The rider whose bike is making enough horsepower to use this pipe has spent hours researching, even longer fitting parts together, and has more money in dyno runs than others spend on their hop-up parts. Daryl Bassani designed this exhaust to offer the most to owners of bikes making over 120 horsepower. Typically, the bikes that qualify have been on a dyno and seen that number as a minimum. Bikes that may meet that benchmark will typically have a high flow air cleaner, possibly an intake or carb change, camshaft(s), jugs, pistons, and possibly head work. Honestly assessing your bike's power is crucial here - if you're fudging your numbers to justify this pipe, you may actually hurt your bike's performance.

The B1 system utilizes more diameter steps than the B4 system, and as such, promotes better HP and torque numbers on engines built for bikes that are at the creative end of 'streetable'. Daryl also spent time going over the importance of the collector in this system. Effectively acting as a 'collector-within-a-collector', Bassani has drawn on their research to help each cylinder most efficiently help its mate through exhaust scavenging. Utilizing the same principles used in carb venturi development, Daryl and his team are able to manipulate the velocity of exhaust gases to tweak every last shred of oomph from your motorcycle. The B1 is featured as part of Feuling's "BFD" system - Bassani-Feuling Dyno-proven. Daryl's exhausts are a necessary ingredient for going fast. You don't have to take his word for it; the dyno doesn't lie.

Bassani RR B1 is just the right amount of loud
I was looking at several 2 into 1 systems for my 2013 Harley Night Rod Special. I considered the V&H Competition, Bub 7, Ground Pounder, and the Bassani. I decided on the Bassani as I had read so much about scraping with the other systems and how they were so loud. I also considered the amount of air volume the others appeared to have, or lacking of, and that having proper volume in the exhaust is important to a properly running street motorcycle. Bassani is the best for ground clearance and size without being too big like the stock exhaust.

When I received it I was very impressed with the packaging as the whole system was so well padded nothing would budge in the box. The fit and finish was very good and went together without issue. I also noticed that both 18mm O2 bungs were welded in and it came with adapters to reduce down to 12mm O2 sensors and plugs for those going without O2 sensors all together. (Previous reviewer said they didn't come with 12mm adapters, but Bassani must have changed that around the spring of 2014)

The sound is awesome as it gives a great low rumble and really sounds aggressive when you open her up, but will not give you a headache or really upset the neighbors every time you cruise bye. It sounds aggressive, but not ear drum thumping loud. I have no clearance issue in right hand turns. It does stick out a little more than the stock so you have to hold your right leg out further when at stops to make sure you don't rest against the header and burn your leg.

Great system. After a proper tune at my local Harley dealer on their dyno running a Screaming Eagle Pro Super Tuner I went from 114 rwhp to 118 rwhp with this system. It rides similar to stock with just more power and sound. Torque curve remained pretty flat so it pulls really nice.

I am very happy with my decision with going with Bassani RR B1.

Lean and mean
Was looking at all the options for my nightrod. Finally landed on the bassani after checking with mechanics, friends and forums. I couldn't be happier. Looks great, feels great and sounds even meaner. Not a traditional harley sounds coming from my bike. More sports and loud but not crotch rocket high pitched. Added performance with my k and n filter and Powervision. It all came together nicely. If you are going to get this bad boy though make sure you have the bike and ear drums for it. Oh and it doesn't come with o2 sensor adapters either. All in all 10/10.....kudos to revzilla for the awesome deal and fast shipping!

I prefer this over Vance & Hines Competition Series 2 to 1
I have a 2014 Harley Davidson Vrod Muscle, and just wanted to give some of the reasons I like the Bassani Road Rage B1 over the Vance & Hines Competition Series 2 to 1 pipe. First let me say that I have owned both pipes and know first hand how they perform. The Bassani Road Rage B1 I feel is better in every way. This pipe is cheaper in price, but better built. It is a better performance upgrade, and is designed to better compliment a stage 1-3 built bike. The pipe and bracket that holds pipe to bike are very well built and built to last. All hardware and detailed install instructions are included and its pretty easy to install. I have the black painted version and the paint is more of a satin black, rather than a flat black which I think makes this pipe look far better. I has a louder rumble and it continues to have a nice rumble even when you wind out the gears unlike the Vance & Hines. Its also safer for aggressive riding styles due to its positioning.
Now I ride a little more aggressive and I had a major problem with the Vance and Hines pipe that you probably wouldn't know about unless you have experienced it. The problem I was having was when I made aggressive right turns where I had more of a lean angle, the Vance and Hines pipe would scrape the roadway. In one case, once the pipe scraped the roadway it started to pivot onto the pipe and the rear tire almost came off the road. All of this is due to how much lower the Vance & Hines pipe is positioned towards the ground compared to the Bassani. I have never even come close to scraping the Bassani pipe on the roadway and this is why I believe its safer for more aggressive riders.
I have nothing against Vance & Hines pipes I have just learned from my own experience that the Bassani Road Rage B1 pipe is better. Hope this info helps someone out.
