Arai Signet-X Hi-Viz Helmet

The Arai Signet-X is the next evolution of the famous Signet-Q. Arai has thrown everything including the kitchen sink at this premium motorcycle helmet. It features a high-performance ventilation system with massive inlet and exhaust openings and large switches that can be easily operated, even while wearing thick gloves. The resigned chin curtain of the Arai Signet-X Helmet simultaneously block turbulent air from entering the helmet and creates negative pressure to exhaust more air. The fully removable Eco Pure cheek pads feature speaker pockets for easy installation of communication systems and for the first time in the Signet series, Emergency Release Tabs. For a better view ahead each helmet includes a VAS-MV (Max Vision) faceshield and a Pinlock 120 lens. The Pinlock 120 lens was developed to be used in high demanding conditions such as on the racetrack or adventure riding. It has proven its extreme performance in premier racing series like MotoGP, WSBK, Formula 1 and more.

The Signet series has been the go to helmet for riders with a more long-oval head shape and this stays true with the Signet-X.

VAS Shield System:

Normally the shield mounting position must remain relatively high, because a lower shield pivot will not allow the shield to open or close. The VAS (Variable Axis System) has a variable axis (moving pivot point). This allows shield opening and closing even with the 24mm lower shield mount position, compared to the Signet-Q.

VAS Shield Latch System:

VAS shield latch system captures and holds the shield closed more securely to help prevent unexpected opening. In addition to a de-mist position, the larger latch design allows for an intuitive and seamless operation of the shield.

PB-SCLC Shell:

The Peripherally Belted - Super Complex Laminate Construction shell design combines multiple materials and techniques created internally by Arai that deliver both performance and affordability.

Eco Pure Liner:

The fully removable interior liner system is made from Eco Pure material, which helps maintain neutral acidity levels close to human skin and antibacterial consumption, as well as a softer liner material and adjustable temple padding to allow for a customized fit.

VAS V MV Shield:

The VAS MAX Vision shield is standard to provide better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding and comes standard with a clear anti-fog Pinlock insert.

Additional Features:

  • Dual function lever releases both the side pod and the face shield for quick and simple face shield removal
  • VAS (Variable Axis System) shield latch system captures and holds the face shield closed and provides a de-mist position to slightly crack the shield open
  • VAS MAX Vision face shield provides excellent visibility in all seasons thanks to the included Pinlock insert
  • Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
  • 5mm peel away cheek pads
  • Cheek pads with Emergency Release Tabs
  • QVF & QVR upper ventilation ducts look familiar but offer more adjustment and better flow through performance
  • PB-SCLC Shell has superb tensile strength due to a variety of carefully-positioned materials and light weight resin
  • Includes clear Pinlock insert
  • Snell 2015 and DOT approved

Hi-Vis Arai Signet X
This is my third Arai helmet. First was a Corsair V (not quite long enough), then a Signet Q, now a Signet X. I wear a 7 5/8 hat. I have a long oval head shape with a prominent forehead. The Signet Q fit well in XL and the Signet X in XL fits even better. There is more room in the mouth area. The view area is fantastic The venting is much better than that of the Signet Q which was good. The shield pulls back as it closes and seals extremely well. The additional removable chin shield and tighter neck roll make it quitter. The Shield removal system is also much improved. I will keep my Signet Q in white for two up riding and use my Signet X Hi-Vis (fluorescent yellow) for solo rides. The wife says she can't sit behind the Hi-Vis

Nice upgrade from the Profile
I've worn this helmet on my daily commute for about 2 months and really like it. I previously had an Arai Profile, and the Signet X offers improved vision (side vision is great as well as the pin lock), it feels quite a bit lighter in weight, and though I still wear earplugs, the Signet X is quieter (the shield seals way better). The only things I wish Arai would offer is a modern buckle (there's got to be a better and safe alternative to the D ring) and a built in visor, but I'll sacrifice this for the SNELL rating.

The size is very similar to the Profile, but I feel the Signet X is more of an extreme long oval, which suits me perfectly.

The updated vents, pinlock, plush linen and shield removal system are all great improvements.

After a long search I finally found my helmet
I have spent years, and a lot of money, searching for the right helmet for me. My riding consisted of weekend sightseeing trips and long cross-country rides of several weeks. I ride an FJR1300.

I tried a Nolan N104 with the N-Com system. A very comfortable helmet with great vision. It has OK ventilation. But it is loud and I had pressure points which were uncomfortable.

I tried a Schuberth C3 Pro. A very nice helmet. OK vision, super quiet and comfortable. I has the feeling of a very high quality item in your hands. But on long rides I would get this pressure point in the middle of my forehead. After a few hours I was looking for a place to stop and let my head recover.

I tried a Arai RX-Q. A very well made helmet. This one is for general riding. I love the fact that it is the safest helmet. It has good vision and ventilation but not very quiet. I never considered it for a long haul.

I tried a Shoei GT Air. I looked like a really nice helmet but it fit like a vice on my head. I found no comfort and promptly returned it.

Then I ordered the Arai Signet-X. The moment I put it on it felt like it was custom made for me. The vision and ventilation are great. I like the fact the pin lock lens covers the entire field of view. It is quiet, not like the Schuberth, but still very quiet. I went on a 400+ mile ride through the Wisconsin Driftless Area with my new Signet-X last weekend. Never once did I think about the helmet. I combine hearing protection with music with Bose QC20 Noise Cancelling Earbuds. My helmet was Lexus-like quiet with these.

During the ride I realized the helmet was the equivalent of the Russell Day Long Seat I was sitting on. It's just there and you never notice it. Which is the highest comfort compliment I can give to any helmet.

So, I finally found my helmet and wish I had done so earlier. If you have pressure points on long rides you might be well served to consider the Signet-X.

Excellent Fit for Long Oval Head
This is the first new helmet I have bought in almost twenty years. I have owned several full face helmets and have primarily used a half shell helmet due to a more comfortable fit. I saw this helmet listed as a long oval shape and that immediately caught my interest. When the helmet arrived and I tried it on, I was blown away with how well it fit. Much better than anything I have owned to date.

I picked up a new Goldwing in North Carolina and drove back through Wisconsin to Colorado. Had several 500-600 miles days on that trip. This helmet was never uncomfortable. The front-year pressure I used to get on my head--completely gone with this helmet. I rode in heavy rain for 400 miles one day. The inside of the helmet stayed dry and minimal water droplets made it inside the face shield. With the extra moisture from the rain, I needed to crack the face shield at times to keep the inside lens from fogging. At highway speeds, I did not have an issue. I did not have the pinlock insert installed during this trip.

I bought a dark tinted lens to use during sunny riding. Being new to Arai, I initially had the lens latch operation mixed up and was pressing down rather than up. Figured it out and the lens is easy to unlatch and open, which I typically do at very low speeds around parking lots, etc, to prevent lens fogging. I read the instructions on swapping out the provided clear lens with the dark tinted lens and it is easy to remove the side pieces, snap the lenses in and out, and replace the side pieces. My field of vision is good. I like the extra snap end securing buckle on the chin strap--I have not had that before: prevents the end of the flap from snapping me in the wind.

I have not installed any audio pieces into this helmet but I am very likely to do that in the future. This helmet was much more expensive than any previous helmet I have bought but I think it is worth it due to the great fit on my long oval head. I would buy it again.

I have always used Arai helmets for daily riding. As I get older, I realize the neon color would be more noticeable, and cooler riding than my usual black helmet (and leathers).
