bought the shield and a dark smoke insert. This is my 4th Arai. I think the visor is excellent and when I go from day to night riding, the visor insert is easy to change out. I haven't had it fog up on me yet, but I have also not recently ridden in climates that would fog up my normal shield. I have to say that the visor with insert is not as clear as the standard arai visor and has a slight distortion, but it is very slight. Also, it tends to "star" or "halo" lights at night much more so than the standard arai visor. There is a small strip on the bottom that the dark tint insert does not cover and it is a bit distracting, kind of like you left your lid open a crack. If you are not riding in really foggy lens type conditions or transitioning from light to dark a lot, I would recommend you just buy the dark smoke arai visor and not this one. But if you are, or just want to transition lenses fast and easy, then this product rocks. hope this helps.

That's More Like It...
I love my Arai Corsair V helmets but they fog up like crazy (once on a hot humid summer evening). I bought the original Pinlock shield with a couple of inserts and it solved the fogging issues but the insert obscured part of the visible area. Indeed, even the packaging warned not to use it in the tuck position. In the tuck the insert gasket was directly in my sight-line.

Then along came the Max Vision Pinlock and I bought one with a couple of inserts. The first thing I noticed was that the shield is not flat like the old style. It has an outward bulge that is the shape of the insert. The inserts fit perfectly into this bulge and rather than having slots that fit into the pins, they have tabs that the pins hold down. The inside of the shield with insert is now flush (as opposed to the raised insert on the inside of the old style shield).

The new Max vision system is larger than the opening in the Corsair so it no longer obscures your vision, even in the tuck position. The insert is shaped around the brow vents too.

I completely forget that I am wearing a Pinlock shield. Fogging is no longer an issue and with the Max vision, I have the full use of that large Corsair opening. This is how it should have been from the start. It has all the advantages of a Pinlock but with a lot more visibility.

Nice and must have for daily commuters in a cold weather
I got this mainly to prevent fog on the shield while commuting daily basis on a public road where many stops and go happen during rush hour. With this shield, I am literally fog free. Great product and very easy to install and maintain.

I got both clear and dark smoky inserts along with this shield. Dark smoky is pretty useful. During daylight, I insert it. Occasionally when I have to ride at night, simply I take off the insert to make it more visible.

Fianlly a product that nails it's purpose!
This is suppose to remove fog. I was riding in cold weather where fog is more prone. This shied (along with the inlay) did just that. It removes fog. It's light, easy to add/remove and seems durable. Awesome product!

Great feature that allow ample of airflows
I sweat a lot but with this eye brow vent, I am better off that with most I had tried. View is a lot wider than most and since I work in the early hours, fogging is minimized with the light smoke pin lock as well as visibility.

Outstanding new sheild
I have used the Pinlock inserts with a number of different helmets, but this one is a little different. Impressively so. The Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Ready Face Shield has an indent where the visor fits into place. This indent allows the pinlock visor to sit flush with the rest of the visor and also use a thicker material than previous inserts, it also allows the insert to overlap the rubber trim of the eye port. The result is a visor that allows for a better functioning pinlock insert, with no visible edges.

Great design and well worth the upgrade.

Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock is all right by me
The Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Ready Face Shield w Brow Vents is the perfect addition to your lineup of face shields.

Before buying this shield, I would have issues with early morning fog and condensation on both sides of the standard Arai face shield that came with my Vector 2. After receiving the Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Shield and installing an insert, the first cold morning ride was great - no more fog, no more condensation. The shield stayed clear the entire time.

The Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock shield inserts extend all the way to the seal on the sides - so the field of vision is the same as if I was wearing a regular shield!

I definately recommended picking up one of the Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Shields if you haven't already.

This is just a basic helmet visor. But you need it if you are planning on doing a pinlock system on your helmet to prevent fogging. So do keep in mind this is just the visor you also need to buy the pinlock insert which is separate. The added brow vents is a nice addition from my standard visor. Just don't forget to lubricate the joints of the visor before inserting into your arai helmet. It makes a world of a difference when opening and closing the visor. Overall a great product.

I live in Washington and the original shield that comes with the Arai RX-Q helmet fogs heavily at slower speeds so I wanted to upgrade to the Pinlock system. The max vision version gives a wider field of view.

Does the outline clear edge bother anyone once you get a smoked insert. I feel like it would be very annoying. Also, what does it look like from the outside, can you see the outside rim? I am deciding if this is worth it, or should I just get a smoked stock shield.

BEST ANSWER: I don't think the clear edge of the shield showing thru has any impact on visibility at all. In my opinion the pin lock system really demonstrates it's value when there's a significant temperature difference between the outside air and the air inside the helmet (ie cool fall and spring days). In the summer I use the stock single shield since it's hard not to get dings and scratches and it's cheaper to eventually replace compared to the pin lock.

BEST ANSWER: This is a pinlock face shield and you can get different colored/tinted inserts. My Shoei has different colored face shields but only a clear insert. One could argue that the inserts are cheaper to buy than the face shields.

Does this work with the Vector 2? I don't see this version, with the brow vents, as an orderable part from Arai for the Vector 2. I only see the version without brow vents. Can anyone confirm that this shield is compatible?

How does the anti-fog capabilities of this, along with the inserts, compare to the Arai Dual Pane SAI shield? Is there anyone that has tried both that can give some insight?

BEST ANSWER: The Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Ready Shield absolutely works with the Vector 2 - I am using it right now with mine. I was able to get the Max Vision with the brow vent option - maybe it wasn't available yet when you were trying to order yours.

I haven't used the Arai Dual Pane SAI shield. But after riding in the cold and cool mornings this spring and having the regular Arai shields fog like crazy, these shields don't fog at all. These are incredible. It was like a completely different ride not having to worry about my shield fogging.
