Great commuter boot!
I was looking for a commuter boot with a lot more support and protection than I was using. This boot delivered.
I was a little worried that the sole would be slippery on wet pavement at stop signs etc., but no problem at all. Not bad at warmer temperatures either. The inner boot does a good job of wicking moisture away from your foot, so your feet don't feel sweaty. You need to buy a little on the small side to allow for break-in.
My only little gripe would be that you may notice the laces of the inner boot against your shin if you are not wearing longer socks.
I use these boots for everything other than hard adventure riding.
I would buy again.

Great Boot.
Over all a great boot. My first pair of street riding boots but i have used motocross boots in the past to compare them too. Very easy to walk in doesn't feel quite like a ski boot but I'm sure you feet wouldn't feel great walking around in them all day. Ankle support is very good along with all other protection. Feel great on the bike, plenty of feel and movement. Also has the shift pad on both feet if you have a right hand shift bike like me.

Sizing was a little big however Im usually a size US 11 wide in boots, 11 in running shoes, 10.5 -11 dress shoe. I got the size 45. Width was perfect but they were a little big length wise. Nothing crazy but my foot would move around a bit while walking around. I put a Dr.Scholl insole inside with the existing and they fit perfect now. Nice and snug but not overly tight. I would say if you have wide feet like me aim little big if you can. Narrow feet you could go a size down I bet.

Good...but can be noisy
I've worn these boots for a little more than a year now - and close to 7,000 miles. Overall, great boots that feel very protective. I especially like the inner bootie. There's no way these things are going to come off in a crash. Despite the high level of protection, they're still reasonably comfortable to walk around in. I've hiked 5 miles in them, after riding for 5 hours straight, and my feet didn't complain too much. Just be warned - because the multi-link ankle protector is on the outside of the boot - they can be a little noisy when you walk. It's a trade-off for the extra comfort and protection. Just don't wear them to any funerals. Also - don't get caught in the rain with them, unless you have some sort of rain covers.

Survived a beating and then some. Absolutely love these boots.
I have had these boots for casual street riding and commuting for a couple of years and the have been absolutely amazing. Even in the warm Kentucky summers, my feet never sweat and I always felt comfortable and safe.

I just came back from a 7 week motorcycle trip in Thailand and Laos. I rode on average 5 hours a day. I have to say, these boots really made the trip enjoyable. I was always comfortable on the bike and off of it. I took several falls and was always uninjured thanks to these boots. They took one hell of a beating and they are still fully intact and useable. Alpinestar did an amazing job designing these boots and I will buy them again once they are shot though by the looks of it, that may never happen.

I use them for street-riding and they're great - Questionable construction...
Had these boots for almost two riding seasons now, you get used to them and they do provide good comfort. They've held up good. They're not as bad as ski-boots to walk in, yet they're not as good as sneakers. I'm confident they will protect my feet, shins, and ankles in case I do go down. They securely tighten around the foot in three different ways (zipper, lace, and Velcro). I've gotten used to the responsiveness of the brake and shift lever, which was scary at first. I did take off the slider piece on the shoe (it detaches easily).

These boots have have a few faults. The first (as seen in my picture and the title), two screws fell off in the same place. I'm not exactly sure why, but it's kind of scary in a way as it could have been very dangerous for other people or myself on the road if they fell off when I was riding. They are also what holds in the 'Multi Link Control' rear plate and. The second fault is the squeaking. It goes and comes, and grabs a lot of attention to you if you're walking in a store. I haven't taken the time to see exactly where it's making the noise but I believe it's that rear plate as mentioned before.

Still, overall very happy with these boots and do recommend them even if all you're doing is street-riding. If the cost is a deterrent for you, ask yourself how much you think your feet/skin/ankles are worth, then look back at the price! ;)

Great boot with comfort
Love this boot, it's my first boot ever so I wasn't sure how it was gonna feel. Initially it was a bit awkward but once I got used to it, it felt normal. I got the non vented version, yet it still allowed plenty of air flow. I will not hesitate to get these.

Used for street riding and they've held up great
Had these boots for two riding seasons now, they are very durable, and I'm confident they will protect my feet and ankles in case I go down. They secure tightly around the foot in three different ways (zipper, lace, and Velcro). They're very responsive with the shifter and rear brake.

The only thing at fault with these is that they squeak bad sometimes and it does grab a lot of attention to you, haven't taken the time to figure out where exactly it is squeeking (I believe it's the heel area where it moves) but I'm betting it wouldn't be hard to use some WD-40 on it. Overall great purchase.

Go fast shoes!
I needed a price point boot to start getting out on the track and this was exactly the thing I was looking for.
I wear an 8.5 normally and that roughly transfers over to a 42 in euro sizes. I completely guessed on the size and they fit pretty good. It is always hard to buy footwear online without trying it on first, and they are a little big.
I do live where it snows, and I sometimes take the bike out in january if the roads are clear. They are definitely a little cold.
I went with the non-perforated because of this and I am glad they are a little big so I can wear a warmer sock. They are extremely comfortable and I feel much safer riding in them.
All in all I am extremely happy with them! great entry level boot!

Quality boots worth the money
Boots seem to offer excellent protection, coming from A* they should. Fit excellent, zipper seems sturdy enough for its use. Especially on sale this product seems very worth the money, much cheaper than having an ankle or foot surgery.

Just do it
I purchased this boot locally. I can't say enough good things about it. I've done about 300 miles on this boot in the last 3 days, and today wore them for about 12 hours without discomfort. I was not expecting that. I have a pair of HD-ish boots that I love and have had re-soled a couple times, so they're broken in and exceedingly comfortable; but they lack real ankle support and can't touch this boot in terms of features.

I wear wool motorcycle socks with this boot and even with weather in the 80's and extended wear time, they're very comfortable. I'm sure they're not even broken in yet.

I'm more of a commuter and sport enthusiast than anything else, and I'm very happy with this purchase. When you hold this boot and the SMX 5 in your hands, there's just no comparison.

Overkill for somebody who's new to riding? Was looking at a sub-200 pair of boots.. then stumbled upon these on closeout. Thinking it would be wise to invest in something of highest quality rather than something average

BEST ANSWER: I'm on my second pair of these and they're by far my favorite boots. I've worn 3 top brands and always go back to these. I use them for both street and track riding. Never skimp on your gear, head to toe. I've been down 6 times in 49 years and trust me, I'm only alive to write this because of my gear. ??????????
Can I use these as commuter boots or they strictly for racing?
A shopper on Jan 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use these as commuter boots. They aren't the single most comfortable boot out there but in their class they are pretty great for daily use. They're pretty good to walk in despite the support systems, but my left boot developed a squeak after a year or so of use. It's a little annoying but nothing you can't learn to live with.
