I love them.. But don't wash the black ones...
These are the first riding jean I have tried that have 1. Fit to my exact size (I wear a 34 waist) 2. are really comfortable with good protection and 3. actually look like good, normal jeans. I'd say this is the closest thing you will get to Levis 511.

But there are a few cons.

You cant choose a length, like most riding jeans. I am 5'8 and they are much too long for me, but I roll them up and its fine. The knee armor surprisingly sits right where I need it while its in the higher setting and covers my knee and upper shin well.

I wore these jeans for a good month before I washed them. I followed the instructions on the tag to the T, but after I washed them they had all these white splotches on them. I know its not soap residue because I used vinegar, and it wont wipe off. I noticed the water during the wash (on delicate) was very dark, as if the dye was seeping out. And when I took them out to dry they had all these ugly white splotches that wont go away. For $230 these jeans shouldn't fad that easily and so unevenly.

Crack does kill...
Anthony wasn't kidding when he said low rise. I am 6'2, 220 and usually wear a 34/32. I had to size up to a 36, which left the seat feeling loose, and the legs were squeezing my calf's. I am not a beefy calfed guy. Skinny jeans for hipsters would be a better title.

The low rise seat was very low. Felt like I was exposing a little plumbers crack. Returning these and trying a larger pair of the Dainese Evo 1 jeans.

Why is it so hard to find jeans that fit? I can walk into any store and find jeans that fit me off the rack. The only motorcycle jean I have found is Rokkers, but the finish looks like something from 1990. All I want is a dark denim, Kevlar reinforced jean with removable (through a zipper pocket on the knee) armor that fit. Is that too much to ask?

A plain-looking, slim fit jeans – with protection????
I was so happy to get these riding jeans as I was looking endlessly for something that has a slim, smart cut without compromising too much with the protection and looks department.

I'm 5'11, 175lbs and I wear 32 waist and length. These jeans were spot on with the waist but an inch too long, which I guess is a normal thing with any riding jeans. They sit perfectly on top of my REV'IT Rodeo boots.

The Dark Rinse looks like your typical dark blue, raw jeans, if this helps with the decision.

Just a random piece of information, my iPhone 6s sick out by approximately 1.5cm when placed in the back pocket.

If I had to flag one thing it would be the hip protection. They're so thin and attach to the inside waist area by a velcro patch! It's big enough to adjust, but the quality of the hip protection is still questionable, which is unusual for an Alpinestars product.

Stitching a pocket with an upgraded removable hip protection may be a better solution.

Hope this helps.

Fits like a pair of Levis with added armor and kevlar protection.
I'm happy with the overall product. The Alpinestars Copper Riding Jeans fit and look almost identical to my Levis 511s and are quite comfy on and off the bike.

The hip armor is a nice protective feature that I can't even feel while wearing the pants. AStars' knee armor is OK for the price; however, I wish it was slightly more flexible and came fixed in place with velcro as It tends to slink down my leg while standing. The Aramid lining doesn't add extra weight or bulk and seems to cover enough area to hold up in a slide. For around town these jeans are great, but aggressive riders should look for more protection.

Please note the black colorway is 100% saturated black, whereas the revzilla photo appears to be more of a grey washed denim.

Meh
I'm 6'4'' and got a size 31. Waist fits well, but on the bike the pant legs hike up and the knee protection goes up my thigh, leaving hardly any protection on my knee. The bottom of the pant leg also gets pretty high above my ankle when riding.

The velcro hip pads are worthless. They had to stitch Alpinestars logo on the pads, which means no padding in this area. When you wear the pants, the logo falls right on your hip bone, meaning zero padding there. No one will ever see this logo, so I don't understand the decision to include it.

All that aside, the pants look pretty good. Just like normal jeans but with rounded knees due to the pads. I guess they would be better for shorter people. Right now they're not very protective to me. I probably should have returned them but it's too late. I wish more gear brands would include tall sizes.

Well worth it !
I got these because I only had a pair of KTM branded textile pants and now ride something else. The jeans are super nice, take out the knee pads and what they call hip protectors and they look like a nice pair of jeans from Diesel or any other top jeans brand that cost the same (minus the kevlar, of course). They fit slim but stretchy, and have 2-3" of extra length to stay over your boot. Currently this is my only riding jeans, and I'm very happy with them. The hip pads, well... However, because they are velcro, I read here or somewhere that you can velcro in some Forcefield hip protectors, which I do interchangeably, depending on what I'm doing. Even with the extra thickness of the Forcefield, they still fit the same and remain equally comfortable.

I give them 5 stars, but since, they remain crash and time untested, I remain neutral on the bang for the buck and protection & durability. They look great, fade well, have kevlar in the right places, have a comfortable fit, come with knee pads, for 39$ you can change to the hip armor of your choice. Would I recommend them, absolutely !

This is my first riding jeans and the copper did not disappoint me. Comfortable and fit true to size. I ride the jeans to work and it is also stylish enough to go out at night. Highly recommended. However, the thick material might be a lil bit too hot for summer riding but great for spring and fall.

Not terrible, but slightly disappointed
Bough this to replace a pair of RHOK riding jeans I went down in last year. After reading reviews, doing a bunch of research, I decided on these. They seemed to be the best combination of protection and style for the price. I'll start with the good, The denim, stitching, and hardware are all very high quality. They look like a regular pair of jeans. They fit pretty much true to size, which brings me to the bad:
They fit odd, tapering as they go down, its advertised as straight cut, but i'd consider them borderline skinny jeans, hard to get them over a boot (although you can).
The knee / shin pads are CE rated, but kinda generic in that they dont conform / have joints in them. (RHOK Gen3 jeans are $130 and have much nicer CE rated knee pads)
The hip protectors it comes with are foam pads that arent rated and are uncomfortable and useless, not even having a pocket, but simply velcro in at the waste and flop around. (RHOK Gen3's I had have CE rated hip pads with actual pockets for them)
Kevlar coverage leaves much to be desired, single stiched in, and only covering the butt and knee area, were as my previous jeans (keep in mind, $100 less) had full coverage all the way around from the waist down to just under the knee.
Kinda was hoping for more considering the price and brand, come on Alpinestars, you can do better!

Really uncomfortable
The knee protectors are stiff and don't conform to the shape of the leg. And they're not removable.

Son is learning to ride. Made him get fully outfitted for street riding. I love my Dianese riding jeans with hard armor in the knees but these were a little more close to a college student budget.

I normally use jeans with 31/32" waist, but with 34" inseam. Will Alpinestars jeans fit me? I fear that 32's will be too short and 34's too loose for me.

The color option "Raw" looks on-screen like an unrinsed black, while the black looks like a slightly faded black. Which is the darker, or true black?
KARL S on Aug 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hey Karl S. The RAW aplinestar are not black. They are definitely blue. A darkish blue but I wouldn't say anyone would mistake them for black. If you watch the video I think that represents what the black looks like. I definitely would like to get a pair like that.

Hope that helps.
I like the slimmer look but I have large calves is it more true to a straight cut?
A shopper on May 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No they are slim in the calf and lower leg. I also have large calves but I like the more secure feeling of my jeans as aposed to a baggy jean. The knee pads also make them slimmer and tighter feeling. I love them. Hope I could help. Ride on.
can I use different hip armor? d30 perhaps?
Vassili S on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm thinking of adding / stitching extra pockets on the inside to house proper hip armour, like a D30. The ones that come with it are wafer thin!
Are there any jeans that have both kevlar and protection that look really good?
Brad W on Oct 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I like my Alpinestar copper jeans. They look nice in the "raw" denim kind. My only gripe with them is you can't take the kneepads out while wearing them. If I could, I'd have a few pairs in different colors.
