Video: Monster premieres five-part tribute to Valentino Rossi

May 05, 2016

Usually, they make tribute videos about you when you're retired, and as Valentino Rossi emphatically proved nearly two weeks ago at Jerez, he is not yet ready to retire.

Maybe Monster Energy just wanted to get a head start.

That's probably wise, because just as Rossi has been the most celebrated motorcycle rider in history — the only one most non-motorcycle people around the world could name, if pressed — he is also sure to be the one paid homage to most often when he finally does hang up his leathers. So Monster kick-started that process early with a five-part series not-so-creatively titled "Valentino Rossi: The Doctor Series."

The first part has been posted on YouTube.

Part one in the series features comments from Yamaha team boss Lin Jarvis, former MotoGP rider and World Superbike champ Colin Edwards, Vale's father Graziano, and others who know him. The video promises, in future segments, to take viewers inside Rossi's inner circle of friends in his hometown of Tavulia in Italy.

Love him or not, Valentino Rossi proves again that you can't ignore him.
