Twenty/20 Exhibition: Aussie hand-painted helmets auctioned for charity

Dec 05, 2017

Everybody loves a good hand-painted helmet. You know what else everybody loves? A good cause.

Giles and Andy (a different Andy, I’m not Australian) of Sabotage Motorcycles combined their love of motorcycles and Sydney to benefit the Movember Foundation, a charity “tackling men’s health on a global scale.” Right on. Partnered with DMD, Sabotage sent out plain white three-quarter helmets and let 20 of Sydney’s best do their thing.

The lid painters included “street artists, illustrators, aboriginal contemporary artists, painters, and designers.” After a clear-coat treatment to preserve the art, the helmets were reunited for an opening at VANDAL Gallery called the Twenty/20 Exhibition, and now they’re all available on eBay in what might be the most photogenic auction ever to have graced their servers. All of the proceeds go to the Movember Foundation, and the auctions close Thursday. Good on ya, Giles and Andy. Your helmets are so good, they can save lives twice.
