Sport-touring motorcycles combine the speed and handling of a performance bike with the long-haul capabilities of a tourer. For many riders, they are the perfect blend: fast and functional.
And what makes a sport-touring motorcycle? Riders want the ability to quickly and comfortably reach faraway destinations and they often plan their routes to include fun roads along the way. A good sport-tourer should handle well (typically on 17-inch wheels) with a riding position somewhere between a sport rider's forward lean and a tourer's upright posture. Wind protection, luggage and other comfort features keep the miles rolling without too much stress.
